So, I cannot believe there is not a megathread on this, due to the sheer amount of people I have encountered in person as well as online that have experienced this.
What I speak of is the "permatrip" - in my eyes a bit different from HPPD - due to the fact that it is not always dysphoric and is more like the actual psychedelic experience.
Most of the people I have met who have "struggled" with this have been people who have been using large quantity's of psychedelics since they were very young - 15 years old or so. Most people I have met who were older when beginning their journey do not seem to be able to experience this. Because of this, I believe it may have to do with the use of these tools while the brain is still developing.
I would not necessarily call it a bad thing, though it can make life more challenging (and more fun) - LSD seems to be one of the main culprits of causing this.
For me, it is characterized by visuals (patterning, tracers, and color shifting), random laughter, word salad, thinking/learning in metaphor (can get overwhelming), hearing "double meanings". That is, one someone says something, the mind automatically creates a metaphor to something in my life or to something I am thinking about, within like 0 or 1 second of hearing it, and then that creates another metaphor, and another.
There are times I have started having a "bad trip" - after intense life experiences such as police, etc. This lead to delusion. My "telepathy" (or very good cross-referencing skills mixed with a bit of energy sensing - would be taken over by delusion. I would think dark and twisted things about my life or where it was headed. This would border or be on par with OCD intrusive thoughts.
When the negative aspect of this happened, I thought I had finally gone schizophrenic. Some of the experiences of this would definitely be considered schizotypical symptoms, however, because the bad aspects come and go, and the amount of lucidity when in a good place I do not believe it to be so.
I have a few friends who also have this exact same experience, one who blames excessive amounts of DMT when young (well, blames himself, but yeah), some others, one who believes this is how "indigo children" are being created (delusions of grandeur, or truth?
) and people I have met at festivals and online.
Many of these people seem to also have experience with the occult or urban shamanism/spirituality and rituals.
I also believe this experience to fade with time.
So, anyone else have any experience with the permanent psychedelic experience?
