Harm Reduction The Pain Management Mega Thread Version 4

Hey that lexapro works pretty good. It was very humid rainy day, usually when I in the most pain. Feels similar to a benzo/ soma type of mix. It actually made me sleepy in beginning. Don't recomend taking before work. I think you need to be on it for couple weeks to really feel effects. Might try it next time or if ever insured again. Read the interaction with nsaids too late, oops!!!!

Are all of you folks (for whom the following question applies) taking NSAIDs as part of your pain mamangement regimens in addition to the opioids?

I am on oxycodone for opioids and get the most relief (depending on the type of pain, my chronic pain is not just one condition/source of pain/type of pain) from a combination of opioids, sometimes naproxen sodium (Aleve) IR tablets, morphine sulphate liquid for rectal use, the 100/200mg tablet MS ERs, 15-30 MS IRs, high dose high potency cannabinoid extracts and on very bad days pain depending, combinations of benzodiazepines on top of my normal maintenance doses. I really miss my prescription for carisoprodol, I felt it was much more helpful than the opiate+benzo combo my pain management clinic endorses...

(Oh and btw, yes, it's fairly standard procedure for doctors who specialize in RXing opioids to have patient contracts which basically offer them some layer of protection from nosy federal scrutiny. )

I find thst 1200 mg of ibuprofen hels my shoulder injury more than methadone or fentanyl or morphine at ANY dose.

Oh and for the poster who mentioned nandrolone (deca durobolin)..... It does mask joint pain but in the long run males things worse as it allows you to train through an injury and do more damage....... It is an interesting treatment though and one which i have considerable experience with.........I doubt most doctors would have a clue about it tho.
Oh and be careful with doing your patches bucally.......i ended up doing300mcg worth per day which equates tp over 50mg of fent if you consider the total fentanyl content in a patch...... That's the equivalent of 5000mg of morphine...... It is a slippery slope.

Yes ginia I was on a 100 mg patch take 1 patch supposed to last 3 days, but I did have 1&a half almost 2 days pain free! That was the first time since 2010 I have woke up an could honestly say I had no pain, I also was prescribed Vicodin 10s for a breakthrough 3x a day might have. been the combination of both but pain free 2 days well about 2 weeks outta the month I was

Is that the 72 hour patch? I never had a fent patch but the morphine 72 hour patch didn't do much for me. I know fent is 500 times stronger but very addictive.

@tricomb
yes I been taking nsaids for pain relief instead of opiates. They work after your off opiates for awhile. Wouldn't recomend mixing the two. Most pain meds have acemetaphen in them already. Not supposed to mix that with nsaids.

Thanks Lifeinpain I'm really just kinda screwed cause I'm banned from his facilities.. So does anyone have a home remedy?? Looks like I really fucked up, how long will this stay on my file?

Morphling it wasn't that I had refused I told him that they was no need for me to sign consent forms, because I wasn't gonna waist my time with him. Thanks anyway for the info.

Consent forms hmmm my old pain doctor never did anything like that. Maybe I can at least get him in trouble or practice shut down. We have the worst collection of doctors from all over the world. Then you go to a rich area like midtown and everything different but costs $600 per visit. This place is messed up, and they wonder why people go to the street pharmacy. My homie knows more about meds than old doctor pinned eyes lol.

Oh. Ok. Interesting. Sorry for making assumptions.

What I would do is draw up and print out three original copies of a letter, to be sent to your state medical licensing board, stating what happened to you in detail, and send two copies, registered, one to the medical board and another to the physician. It would also be very good to have it notarized, but that costs money if you don't personally know a notary public. I'd also state that you would like to have your medical records amended to reflect that you fired him, and you can escalate this to a formal complaint if necessary.

Take the third, original and notarized copy of the letter with you to any new physician you may see, if you are concerned about the medical treatment you will receive having been labeled a drug seeker. Have them make a copy to be kept in your medical records.

When firing a doctor, it's best to do the registered letter bit if you can, stating that you are firing and exactly why, in order to refute any petty bit of vengeance you may be worried about.

I hate egotistical, nasty doctors. Just because someone in that sort of position decides to be a cunt, doesn't mean you have to take it. There is recourse to these things. If you are UK you can take similar action with the NHS.

OOOhohooo thats a great idea, thankyou for advice. This idiot druged out doctor left me hanging with no notice forcing rapid detox Hell recently. You gave me better idea than what I was planning to do. See him go away instead of me. He made countless mistakes no consent. He would forget my condition after I see him every month. How high can a doctor get? Every time he ask for piss test I laugh because I have failed almost every time and he never said anything lol. I know for a fact most doctors read files, look at piss test results. This guy was just about getting high and paid. Instead of hanging him out to dry I let a few letters off and watch him get hauled off. My state don't play with half ass doctors. You either going to jail or deported or both and loosing license. Thats kind of how I end up seeing him in the first place. Old doc was busted+deported, adios amiga. He kind of took over her shady practice. Sometimes the doctor is more dirty than the streets.

Has anyone ever tried Voltaren Gel for joint/pain relief? I just found a full tube in my meds drawer lol. Who knows where it came from. Basically I used to have a drawer of meds that rivaled fear and loathing. Now its just otc meds and I finding weird leftover items like this. The side effects sound terrible but its basically a strong nsaid for topical use. Not sure if I want to put it on my leg, injury a bit too close to the family jewels. Maybe try some on my knee.

I use it constantly without issue, it took more than one application to reap the benefit, so keep with it for a week or so and see if its of any use for you!

Thanks for advice, I give it a try. This is a large tooth paste style tube. Probably get 2-3 weeks out of it. Do you or can you take regular nsaids as well as the gel? It has conflicting info about that as far as I can see.

I purchase and use the large 150g tubes applying it 3-6 times a week for muscle spasm and seizure and surprisingly the tubes last for months, although over the last year or so the price has dropped dramatically from twenty-five to under ten dollars a tube, so not an expensive fix if it helps.
I take all other medications without worry, but do consult your physician if you have any lingering concerns. Moe

Cool do you dose once a day? Thanks for the help, this is new to me. Found this 100g tube full. If it helps will get some more. I not with a doctor right now but hopefully soon. My injury is hip to the knee so that where I would apply. Does it burn like sports cream?

Ya I have enormous tolerance way back even as a child. Always had injuries and broken bones. They give me vics or codeine and nothing happens for pain or fun. I know alot of people enjoy them. My friend is 6'5" 325 lbs and a vic 5 will knock him out. So everyone has different metabolism. Who knows why but the only thing that helped me was high doses of oxy and roxy. Thats it, unfortunately those two are the most abused by me and everyone else. I was also given morphine pills, iv, huge doses. It works for about 10-20 minutes on me whatever dose. The nurse give me my shot then leave and 20 mins later I back to 9-10 level pain. This is after surgery from a trauma incident. Have had soo many injuries over the years and when they pull out the ole morphine shot I say forget it. Actually 20mg of oxy works better for me because it lasts longer. For breakthru instant relief maybe morphine is good but I was in pain 24/7 and can't use something that wears off soo fast. The next patient may have totally different experience. I know old people with real issues and morphine helps them. I used to get vials of liquid oxy and that was obviously the strongest ever and lasted very long. Thats very hard to find or afford these days. The fent lolly pops were unbelievably strong and I understand why alot of nontolerant patients die on them. Thats why its soo hard to get them. Honestly they were too much for me and just put me out for an hour. After the hour I right back to normal. Basically I've tried it all, had broken tones of bones, stabbed 3-4 times, been shot most recently, then 3 surgeries for that, now I can't mess around with opiates. They too addictive and my tolerance is thru the roof. I take nsaids and thats it,dealin with it. Pain is everyday part of my life. Somedays I'm active others don't want to move.

Maybe you are a fast metabolizer of pain meds.

I had high hopes for it and tried it for quite awhile but never got any relief from using it. Some people say it works but it did absolutely nothing for me.

Has anyone tried THC/CBD infused topical creams/bath salts (the real ones)/ointments/lotions?

I finally got to try some cream a few days back. It actually worked pretty well for what it is. It really did numb the pain in a very odd way. With opiates the pain just melts away. When I smoke herb, the pain doesn't go away, but I just don't care nearly as much about it. With the cream, I could still tell I was in pain, but it's as if the pain didn't matter at all, so I didn't really feel it. Idk, It's so fucking hard to describe. Def better than smoked weed for pain, not as good as opiates. It's not the cure to my pain problems, but I'll def add it to my arsenal. It's definitely worth trying if you have access to medicinal cannabis, like I do.=D

Ya I'm still not sure about the Voltaran Gel, it reads pretty bad side effects.

I have tried canabis in just about every format known to man lol. Actually I was somewhat of a herbologist for very long time. We made ice cream, all sorts of edibles, tintures, bubble hash, but no topical agents. That could be interesting I might have to trade some recipes with you on that. I found smoking to help my mental coming out of the hospital. The bad was thc- specially high grade tripples your blood preasure. This would actually make my shattered leg throb. For 26 years I was devoted to herb in alot of ways but now after going thru this traumatic event and the detox from opiates can't really smoke anymore. I could move to colorado and get med herb any day. I smoked soooo much already kind of overdid it. Now it makes me paranoid and not too fun anymore. I do however belive in medicinal weed and think more states should use it. I gained weight when I stopped smoking, weed is a stimulant so I would blow down and forget to eat sometimes. Now feeling better, clear headed but it has been a long journey. Doesn't help that I was shot over some herb drama bullshit, mistaken identity. After that and the surgeries, transfusions I was still smoking. Maybe year after I just stopped out of nowhere.

Yes, I make topicals and even a HIGH CBD transdermal pain patch. (think fentanyl)
They work great if made correctly. A much different and right to the source effect rather than smoking. You won't get high unless you decarboxylate it first. But, products like the patch I make need to really be allowed in other states. It works great for many people. Especially, ones who can't/won't take opioids for what ever reasons. It really does work. Hey benny if it "worked" for you but, not enough you can make topicals much more concentrated. My transdermal patches and lotions are available in a few places in california. Use to be available up and down the coast but, I haven't been making as many in recent time.

Thats awesome, I would be all over it if in cali. Thats the one thing we never did was topical treatments with sativa.

My bad knee feeling crunchy today so I going to try some of that Voltoran gel. Still no clue if this knee is damaged. Too much hardware in there to do an MRI. Something def not right with it and those knee supliments cost more than opiates lol.
