not to be a whiney cunt, but can we get this thread on topic. seems like this thread is turning into more a social clique between a few users which is great to an extent but that's what the social thread is for and i.m. programs.

i ran out of morphine 3 days early and after reading about imodium (loperamide) relieving some people's pain i thought i'd give it a shot, secondary to keeping me from sharting every 10 mins, and have had great success which has certainly come as a surprise. i've been dosing anywhere between 1-300mg (200mg mainly) IV everyday and found 10mg alleviated most of my stomach problems and certainly gained control of the pain situation. it's working out cheaper than having to use 800mg+ codeine which isn't quite holding me 24 hours at the moment pain and wd wise.

would have been sitting on a 7-8 yesterday before dosing and within 2 hours i could comfortably move around, no sign of pain apart from sciatic twinges whenever i twisted a little awkwardly.

use that anecdote as you will. ftr my (current) dx is ankylosing spondylitis. l4-l5-s1 are not fused together as should be and i'm getting bamboo back fo' sure.

simply using more than i'm prescribed and throwing a few to a friend occassionally to help him out with his pain - with his work he is limited to codeine as per his docs orders.

i'm prescribed 100mg morphine b.d. along with 5mg valium t.i.d and usually codeine forte (codeine/apap) 30/500 up to 8 times daily for breakthrough (i lost my last script, go figure, so having to buy OTC for mean time).

At least you have that option lol...the strongest thing we have OTC is apap and ibuprofen lol...

Tentram,
I've been hearing alot about that drug lately, and its ability to combat wd's
Did you notice that it helped with the emotional and mental discomfort as well? ?

yeah it sure did, mostly because it alleviated withdrawal symptoms along with the associated diarrhea so i wasn't left feeling like shit wanting to constantly shit.

if you ever find yourself in a bind where you've run out then it's worth giving them a go. they're the latest essential addition to my drug stock. i also always have some promethazine on hand as well for the runny sinuses and have finally got my months supply of 180 codeine fortes (30/500mg codeine/apap) for when i want to take a break from the morphine or perform a cwe.

I'm so sorry to hear your in such pain. I know your frustration and I know what it is like being treated like a drug seeker.

There are drs out there who will take you seriously.

Always be honest and open to the drs.

Don't refuse treatment. I have done the bone scan and its not bad at all. You get an injection wait 2 hrs and they they take pictures.

The worst thing you can do is refuse treatment. That's when they look at you funny.

Do everything they ask and they will be kinder and take you seriously.

I have constant daily agonizing pain day and night. I have pain from my head to my toes.

Dr. Shopping is when you get prescriptions for the same condition from different drs. Like say your toe hurts. You go to dr happy and gives you oxy. Then you go to dr feel good for your toe the same day or week and get oxy for your toe. That's dr shopping. You can only get oxy from one dr.

You can see multiple drs for tests evaluations as long as you are not getting oxy from all the drs. They can give you a non narcotic. If you see a psychiatrist she could possible give you something for anxiety but you have to tell her the medications you take.

Sometimes you have to see different drs to find one who will treat you right. You have a right to chose who will care for you.

I really hope things get better for you. I'm so sorry your suffering.

Take care and keep us posted.

Randomly found 30mg of vicodin today. *happy dance* Took all of them at 6:30...had to put down 3,000mg of APAP at once because they were the 750s, but thankfully I had only had 1g of tylenol earlier today. Surprisingly, it didn't make me nauseated.

Actually sitting at about a 6 for the first time in about a week. Unfortunately, hydrocodone makes me itchier than any other opioid...

Also, makes me a little more queasy than other opioids, and tends to make me irritable/on edge...

I don't get it, I always read that almost every other opioid has less incidence/intensity of side effects than morphine, but it treats me the best out of all the ones I've had.

^ as in 10/10 - you feel really mentally unstable? is it from your pain? <3
Ive been super depressed and anxious this week, finally might get a new shrink soon. I hope!

has anyone had success with hypnosis? I just had my first appointment with one. Sounds promising, especially for the sort of pain I have =D

I got hypnotized in order to quit smoking and it actually worked! I went right back to smoking 2 weeks later, but it was so easy in the beginning. going back to it was my own choice.... there is definitely something to hypnosis. Good luck!

my mother is qualified in hypnosis she tried it on me but couldnt get me under, i am one of the people that cannot be hypnotized with the looks of things she had never come across anyone like that before either. also my old psychologist tried emdr on me and that didn't work either, it is a similar principle to hypnosis. hope it goes well for you b.

^ whats emdr? my hypnotherapist said I was one of a small percentage with a really active imagination who are really susceptible to hypnosis, so thats a bit exciting :)

macd - have you tired hypnosis for your pain?

No, I haven't :)I It's actually never occurred to me! Do you have your appt for the hypnosis yet???

^ I just had my first appointment yesterday, he just asked about my pain, depression, history etc, having my first hypnosis session next week, I'll let you all know how it goes! He said hypnosis can be really effective for pain without pathology/observable symptoms, thats me! Its pretty expensive though.

I wish I could be hypnotized. There is so much things I want to forget. Do much pain I want to go away.

Right now my pain is a 7 and I can barely walk. My legs hurt bad. My back hurts almost as bad and my shoulders are creeping up there. I think I'm about done for the day.

I hope everyone has a good night and y'all sleep restful.

Coraline, I'm sorry you're hurting so badly. Hopefully today is a better day for you.

Finally...took us long enough to hit page 2 lmfao (I view 40/page).

Stim comedown is fucking killing my back at the moment. My hyperkyphotic curve (~T3-T9) is sitting at about an 8.25 and it feels like someone has a hand on either of side of that section and is twisting them in opposite directions. It's so bad, I can barely notice the herniated discs/stenosis in my lumbar, and my leg pain is almost absent from my sensory functions. Took 1g APAP and 800mg Ibuprofen despite not being supposed to take NSAIDs. Took 8mg Zofran, 150mg Zantac, and 3g Calcium Carbonate to counter the stomach issues I will incur. Goddamn do I need an opioid lmao. A 200-lb individual with a strong center of balance would be nice to walk across my back as well lmao.
