Misc The Pain Management Mega Thread version 3.0

I know what you mean about opiates decreasing hunger. I have gone all day with out eating before. I would forget. I also worked as a nurse so I didn't have time to pee let alone eat. That stuck with me for a long time.

Cortisone does increase weight gain. I have seen it in my patients. I have seen people who looked like skeletons plump up to normal size and get a better quality of life back. That was really awesome to see compared to the sadness and grief I'm use to.

Anyways, I have to have control. I'm already hungry again. This really sucks. I think I'm drink water today instead of cokes. I love cokes. I drink about 8 a day. Yeah I know bad. But our tap water tastes like trash.

About a month ago I went to take a bath and the water was the color of urine. I called the water company and in a week it was blue. But it still tastes like crap.

The steroid shots also make you retain water. I will monitor my blood pressure and heart rate and if it's high I'll call my dr.




But since my pain is less in thinking of going back to work. <3 I think if my pain is low for the next week I'm going back to home health. It's really flexible and I love having the time to actually talk to my patients.
 
That would be awesome if you could go back to work hun. I know how much you miss it. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.
 
Not a very good week so far, first night of freshers I ended up getting the shit kicked out me by bouncers and spent the night in the cells. I can barely do anything let alone go out and party with people. Grim
 
I had that happen to me at fresher week about 7 years ago, really sucks that happened to you. Does your pain affect your studies?
 
I think you might be better off starting a thread about it then i can't see you getting ny answers here to be fair.

Soda is one of my many weak spots. Do steroid shots do the same nasty things to people as say, Medrol (sp?) dose pack?
I've taken that several times and every time I eat like a pig and get emotional very easily. I get especially angry and combative.

Doomed2pain, are you feeling any better this evening emotionally or physically? BTW, it's 5:43 pm where I am :)

OH, honey, is this a feeling you get often? Is there anything that has helped you get through this urge in the past? I hate the idea of you being in so much pain.... I mean, do you think that you need to go to the hospital? we both know hurting yourself is not the answer, but if you don't feel you can stop yourself I think that you should definitely go to the hospital, where you will hopefully get some relief from the incessant pain. What do you think???
Have you shared your feelings with anyone close?

yeah it does quite abit, im dylexic and dypraxic so I find it hard enough to study , but when the pain is pretty bad I can barely think or process much at all. The prescription meds ( and probs the non prescriptiond drugs) I have used in the past 3 years have most likely affected my thought processing.

This is the first time I have had steroids.

Never again.

I ate 4 meals 5 snacks a ton of cokes water I'm sure there is more.

It hurts after I eat. It is crazy. I think I have duodenum and gastric ulcers now.

Gastric ulcers hurt when you eat.

Duodenum ulcers feel better when you eat. Idk. If it gets worst I'm heading to the ER.

I already have a history of gastric ulcers.

Plus I have body image issues already so this is bad.

COULD you be pregnant? I know it seems like a stupid question but it's something that I don't consider often ... like if I have to go to the hospital 1 of the first things they ask me is if I could be pregnant... and when I think about it, yes actually could be lol. Ya know?
I don't know much about stomach or gastrointestinal issues , so I cant poo-poo the possibility you may have some of that going on...but I know that steroids always screw my stomach up badly. I eat a lot bc I feel starving and then feel nauseous. If the injections have the same side effects as PO steroids, what you are going through sounds fairly normal.
Still, if you're concerned and the negatives outweigh the positives no harm in talking to your MD about it, right?

if your water is really trash you should think of investing in one of those filters that fit straight onto the end of your tap, otherwise seriously consider boiling it and letting it cool and drinking it like that. you could always waste money on buying bottle water also. cut back on the damn coke!

I'm a crack head when it comes to coke! Lol! But yeah I'm cutting back sodas. Especially now I'm eating like a prego. Sodas are just empty calories.

I want a water filtration system. We replaced the tap and you can not hook one up but I'm going to buy a Britta filter jug when i go to the store next.

I buy cheap bottled water and it still tastes good. Some brands taste like puddle water. Idk of its the way they store it or what.
