you and me both...I got 9 days til my PM appt...hopefully my "psychiatric history" won't bar me from treatment again...I can't go to a methadone clinic with my intended career...

My girlfriend just asked me about Nucynta and if I've ever heard about it today.....she has 3 ruptured discs in her neck with a hemorrhage as well as a fluid filled cyst pressing against her spinal cord. Needless to say, she is in horrific pain and says she totally understands why people commit suicide when they've got chronic pain. Her doc prescribed Nucynta 50mg 3 times a day, along with OxyContin 80mg THREE (Yes three) tabs (240mg) twice daily....she had been on Oxys for a couple of years now and built up quite a tolerance, but was just on 80mg twice daily and oxy IR 10mg two tabs every 3-4 hours up to 12 tabs a day before today.....I've done some reading on this new drug she was given Nucynta and do i understand right??.....Is it mixed with an antidepressant to increase its effect on our pain receptors and also to prevent vicious withdrawal symptoms when stopped?? I don't understand what the chemical makeup of this drug is!! Help!! Also, what are the potential effects that are beneficial....how is it for pain control and is it going to make her forget her current misery and give her a bit of euphoria?!!! She feels nothing from Oxys anymore because she has been on them for so long and they just take the edge off her pain symptoms. Anyone on here that can give me any information on Nucynta would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!
