i have the oral condition from my meds and digestive problems. i drink at least 2 litres of plain water lotsbof sweet teavto keep my sugar intake high, as i over produce adrenaline i need to keep my glucose levels high to keep up with the over production of adrenaline. i also take meds to combat the digestive problems which dont help much. there is also medication available for dry mouth, ask your gp?

you are right though dehydration affects many functions including increases pain and decreases bodily functioning. if your chronic condition is neurological, dehydration is a major problem as other bodily functions like temperature regulation are affected by neurological disorders. so remember, lots of rest, good sleep hygeine, hydration, nutrition, regular physical examinations and keeping a pain journal and also one for your mental health is imperitive. pm if you need advice on starting and keeping the journals they will be a huge help to you and your medical team. if they have access to a well documented, up to date, accurate portrayal of your condition, symptoms, general physical and mental health and any adverse med reactions as well as your daily routines they will be able to treat you much more efficiently and accurately :)

hope that was of some help.

DJNJax ^ Perhaps you could try some of those electrolyte oral rehydration sachets? (they sell them in the pharmacy for cheap) These are actually key if you are hydrating with a LOT of water, like the recommened "6 to 8" glasses a day, you wind up flushing out essensial minerals & salts which can make you feel worse.

In Dubai it gets HOT, l'm talking 45/50c during july/august so everybody drinks a gallon of water a day so (most, wise) people will drink something called 'Pocari Sweat'. It replaces the electrolytes you inevitably flush & piss out when necking loads of plain water every day,.

hey Doomed, i got massive digestive issues too. however its from consitpation and stomach ulcers. now i been on laxi's it helps alot with the traffic.. there is a medication from the dentist for dry mouth condition, ,real expensive but.

The dehydration sachets don't help with the whole damaged teeth from medicinal dry mouth as it has something else in it that actually combats a certain chemical production or some shiz and unfortunately it is really expensive so it needs to be procurred by prescription for finance reasons. It is meant to work wonders but my gps aren't allowed to prescribe it on the nhs like many of my beneficial pain meds etc.

I hate this stupid Lie-Coalition totalitarian dictatorship (or you'd think that's their political stance with some of e bull shit they are coming up with)

Anyway, grrrrrs lol.

I am also at a good fluid level with what i drink is im dehydrated due to my condition and pain (your body is in day hyper drive with my condition so glucose and fluid replacement to the correct requirements is imperitive. Until i was on this regime but still drinking a decent amount of fluid, my urine was so dark it was untrue.

Did you end up getting some better pain meds by the way doppla?

Sounds loke the one i am talking about DJ.

How you feeling today man? My stomach is knackered, constipation, messed up acid production and also the correct "digestion signals" do not get from my brain to my stomach so what happened is weekend is a regualr occurence. I ate food on sat, i shouldnt have but i was craving just food in general. Since then i have been producing foul, sulphury burps, vomitting the stuff and running a fever due to the bad food still rotting away in there.

Nice huh

Hey Doomed2pain, havnt yet had the chance to get the 60 mg DHC contin i'm hoping to get again cos i've been woking 7am til 3 pm so i'd have to take a day off work to see my doctor... I phoned up an out of hours clinic on friday as i've had a virus & vomiting, sore throat etc, so i asked the pleasant indian doctor to script me some anti emetics benzocaine throat spray & co-dydramol, but when i picked up my script he'd damn well given me co codamol! I've already got codeine pills up to the eyeballs!

However a friend of mine is hooking me up with some 5 mg methadone tabs; i'm quite curious to see how effective they are as they're supposed to be a pain eliminator with long legs. Yes, i know the methadone will seriously raise my tolerance but getting these (20) pills is a one off as the guy has come off the ole 'done & wants to sell ehat he has left.

I'll be sure to post how it goes with methadone ; )

Today, I took 150 mg codeine at 8:30, then at 10 am i took 100mg tramadol with 5 of valium. Now I'm home & at 3 i took 240 mg codeine. fed up of the short half lifen tho & i cant get anymore tramadol until i am able to get a repeat online next wednesday & i'm not gonna be free to see my gp until the 14th! Shucks.

^Cheers brighton ; )^ I took a day off work today & managed to get another script for tramadol! I thought he would refuse a repeat since i've gone waaay over my quota but he could see i was looking prettty torn n frayed so there you go. Also got another box of the oxazepam but i'm saving those to take strictly as needed when i'm dosing the methadone as i hear ox is the least toxic benzo & my doc says its the mildest benzodiazepine he can prescribe - 10 mg oxazepam,. apart from 2mg diazepam bu those are a pain in the balls.

9:20 in London now, a peaceful vibe was in the air as i went to the pharmacy. 8 am i took 600 mg gabapentin then at 9 i ingested 300 mg tramadol & 10 of Valium to smooth the tramadol out. I tend to find tramadol quite "speedy" others say it either does nothing, gives them nausea & make them drowsy! dowsy like hell.

Anybody here find tramadol speedy & jittery? I normally take between 150 & 300 mg per dose, but i just cant imagine feeling "drowsy" of tram.

Makes me look like i speed freak too, i look like a tweaker on tramadol. You are not on any ssri's are you? You could end up with serotonin syndrome taking tramadol, gabapentin AND ssris. Iwas really ill, sure my drs are trying to kill me lol.

I hope people mite still follow this thread or direct me to a new one.
I have spinal problems and have been on strong medication under the supervision of the pain management clinic and my doctor and have just been prescribed the temegisic sublingual (.2 buprenorphine) with a 1 tab 4 times a day to start.
Heres a list of the meds ive been on long term (4yrs) at one stage and altho i take slow release/fast acting and various delivery methods so im always on a constant concoction..
SR Oxycontin
tegretol
gabapentin
tramal SR
tramal fast acting
buprenorphine patches
endep
ALSO - panadine forte 6-8 per day & Valium which i take 2 each together as my faithful fix if im in extra pain .I hope thats a good indication of my tolerence level and dont suffer adverse reactions and aslong as im not in pain i can still function fine mentally.

Ive in the last few weeks ive had a sudden increase in pain level aswel as a new pain so i when i went to the docs and the result is to add another drug to the daily concoction .2mg Bupe under the tounge to be taken 4 times a day,
Currently im already taking: 6-8 Pan Ft, 2-6 valium, 200mg tramadol SR twice a day, normal 50mg tramadol, 100mg endep once, and also 150mg Effexor XR, PLUS NOW the bupe tabs aswel.

I admit to changing my meds around and self medicate but still only consume the same amount per month.

NOW, i have smoked weed forever and also use meth once a fortnight via IV for the past couple years and have at some point tried injecting every med and never really enjoyed any of them with the europhoria that others describe so i only did each thing and decided i needed them for the pain relief more than the hit and it was a waste.
So... whats the go with using the under tounge by IV? I know the filtering/safety etc so its more about how many someone with my tolerence would need to feel the real feel??
Does else have to choose either the pain relief or the recreation? What are your thougths?

Im so sorry bout the long post id just really like sum direct advise and opinions with the points Ive covered.

I would much appreciate any replies, your stories and opinions.
Thankyou

I'm on the same boat as you are. I was in a motorcycle accident 3 years back and other than all the minor injuries I had a hairline fracture to my tailbone. Yea, fucking sucks....but I just had a very low tolerance to hydrocodone for the pain and vics 5/5s works and than norcs 10/325s worked well. These work well if taken as prescribed and moderated because they are habit forming and you don't want to build a tolerance. I also am prescribed xannex 2mg bars and that I take as directed because I quit cold turkey because I wanted to just make sure I wasn't addicted and wanted to see how bad the withdrawals were from just taking even 2mgs in a day. I had a seizure the seconds day of not being on the meds. So I am no longer taking xannex because it's just sketch. Stay away from benzos in my opinion and if you're using an IV and feel comfortable setting yourself up with that you should feel relaxed and nourished. Spinal problems suck because they just are an annoyance more than anything. Don't let it be an excuse for you to get hooked on PK's though. I've been down the Dark Side and it wasn't fun. PM me if you want to hear about some other meds. I've taken a lot...right now I'm taking cymbalta, flexeriel, and new castles...lol

I HATE Xanax. Why dont u.s docs just presribe 5 mg valium or .5 ativan ? Much less problematic drugs than alprazolam. I'm sure it's a very useful drug when taken in small doses, work your way up for a few days or a week depedning on the level of stress your under then titrate you off within 2/3 weeks. Sounds pretty bloody right to me.

It seems now an days US docs don't script alprazolam as often, especially not as a first benzo. I've always seen lorazepam or clonazepam as first line benzos scripted by US docs. alprazolam and diazepam have gained a reputation for abuse, and docs are shying away. This is at least my experience and from what I've heard from others in the US.

I'm currently scripted clonazepam but wish it was diazepam instead. clonazepam makes me sometimes a bit to irritable. I can snap like a twig on it.

Didnt manage to get back on DHC :( only co-dramol 60 a month & 90 tramadol 50mg.

I need some advice actually, i stopped taking citalopram sunday after 3 months, i'm taking tramadol everyday now which is an SNRI so can i expects to avoid withdrawal symptoms from citalopram if i'm taking tramadol, an antidepressant in my mind, i certainly dont consider tramadol an opiate. Feels like a really good one if mixed with diazepam tho ; )

Im not sure, as one is snri and the other is ssri. Just keep an eye on it and go see your gp if you start with a fever or feel generally unwell. You can never tell who will react in what way. I stopped fluoxetine dead after beingon it for 8 months and i didnt really feel any negative side effects. Just tred carefully :)

Thanks man, i just hope when a dose of opiates wears off i do not get those "brain zaps" I've had those before; feels like sombody hit the funnybone in your brain, but i hear coming off citalopram can be brutal.

I came off citalopram after 2 weeks, sent me straight into mania and then psychosis. Can i ask what your mental health diagnosis' are? Inbox me, if you tell me more indepth about your pain and what not i may be able to give better advice hun :)
