I got switched from Fent to Opana 20mg twice a day. Anyone have any experience with Opana? I'm just curious as to how well it works compared to something like Fent. Oh btw Fent was 50mcg every 48hrs.

I suppose that would be the way to do it, but as far as re-dosing on the hydrocodone, I'm not sure, and I've never read anywhere how long the gabapentin affects the Cmax of the hydro. Maybe you might consider not taking the gabapentin at all, unless, like me, you have to.

I take it for neuropathic pain.

And because my meds aren't strong enough so they jam more under-strengthed pills down my throat.

Hello Bluelgihter(s)!

A little info about myself:

Age - 21
Weight - 155lbs
Height - 5'10" (Just throwing it out there)
In pain for - 3-4 years
My first Problem:
Okay, so as stated I am 21 years old with which seems to me, is too young to be experiecing these problems I have been having. At age 11 I had my first Kidney Stone which brought me to my knees. After that kidney stone, I had 7 others after that, my last one being at age 19. Since then, I leanred to deal with the passing of the stone. The past 2 times I passed on my own at my house since no one was around to bring me to the hospital both times. After my last one, I always notice I have a contant back pain (kidney area) and it's really starting to get to me. It's so sore sometimes I don't want to move.

Second:
Okay, this story is a little on the light side. So last Tuesday I woke up and did not notice my whole right leg was completly numb. I got out of bed and took my second step with my numbed foot. I fell and smashed into my computer desk and rolled my ankle. My right side ribs where sore for a good 3 days, with brusing along with my foot. Then, friday comes and my girlfriend and I where hanging out. I was laying on the bed, and she came over and sat on my chest. Then, she went to get off and lifted off my chest, and then her hand caved in a little on my chest and there was a loud "popping" noise and instant pain ran through my body. I though it was just because it was already tender that it was hurting so bad, so I lived with the pain for a little, then after went to doctors and come to find out, she cracked my rib. Funny because she weighs 99lbs... hahah and right before it happened she said, "I wish I had a fatter ass so I could hurt you..." Thanks babe. lol. Anyways, my doctor wants me to get testing done for osteopenia since both my mom and sister were tested positive for this both before the age of 21. But before this happened, I was always in joint and muscle pain. My whole body aches and sometimes when it's really cold out, and i just "hop" down from something or take a short step on a stair-well, I get this sharp pain in my ankle and it shoots up my leg and I loose feeling in that leg I used.

I have never been on 'maintence' for anything, never been prescribed pain medicine, never crossed my mind to ask for pain meds. Now, this does not mean I haven't done my fair share of opiates. At first it was rec, but after a while I noticed that I function better while on them as much as pain wise obv. It went from hydrocodone, to 40mg Opana. Now, I DO NOT buys these drugs on a basis. I have been able to get these whenever I am in great pain. After a while I stopped using both for 4 months. Thoes 4 months where hard cause my pain was always still with me. I had a opiate tolerance of 80mg Hydrocodone in the past. And be able to do a 30-40mg Opana and feel good not nodding. But it help'd with my pain so much. After a while I realized I don't want to buy my pain releaver from some scumbag just looking to collect money.

I ask you guys for your opinion on what I should ask my doctor. I'm not going to bring up saying "Oh I heard this works" or, "Someone told me about OHPANHA?" I want this to be legit. I really want some reliefe so I can go on with my day without this pain following limiting me to what I can do. They have prescribed me DICLOFEN 50mg which is a NSAID. And another one called RALFEN 150mg. They both do nothing for me. But, one of thoes where ment for my rib, but yet I still get no reliefe. What kind of medicine would you recomende I search up and get more info on. None of these pain killers they prescribe me help one bit. But I dont want to be blunt with my doctor making me look like "another kid looking to score some opiates." I wish to take mine as needed, I DO NOT wish to sell them, I REALLY need them. It's my only source of help it seems. But I'm factoring in my age, and if they would even precribe me any legit pain killer for my age.

Thank you guys so much for taking the time to read my problem and rambles!

we cant tell you how to get meds from your doctor here.
there is no magic phrase unfortunatly that will get you what you want/need
just be honest about how your current meds arent working and how the pain is affecting you.

October I imagine, in theory, that just being honest with your doc saying that you're in a lot of pain & is there anything he can prescribe to give you some releif. Mention the medicines you've tried i.e diclofenac & just say they dont work.

Anyone have much experience with methadone for chronic pain? I need to try something new, morphine really does nothing for me

I posted this in a social, but I thought it might be better asked here so...her it is...

When I'm in certain positions, it feels like there's a dagger sticking in the right side of my lower back, just above my buttocks and if I move it feels as though the dagger is getting wiggled around in a twisting motion. Anyone with chronic pain know what exactly that might be causing it? (And yes, I know you aren't doctors, but I'm sure there's someone that has had experience with this) The pain also goes down my leg a ways.

If anyone could answer it be appreciated.

Is there a BT med that works well with Opana ER ? Im currently on Op ER and 10/325 OxyCodone for BT pain. I just recently switch from Fent 50mcg to the the Opana and LOVE the change. It doesnt work quite as well for killing pain but I can function much more alertly which is worth the increased pain. I know that Opana has an IR formula but how well does that work? I'm just wondering if i should get a stronger BT pain med to help with the increase in pain due to the fact i switched to a weaker long acting drug or just leave it as it is, and if the OC was counter productive to the type of opiate that Opana is. Thoughts?

Hey Doug,

It sounds like it's your sciatic nerve is getting pinched. Do you sometimes get a pain in your groin like your testticals got hit?

That's one of the problems with my back. That's where that inversion table and TENS unit comes in I wrote to you about. (BTW, as you requested, I've resent that message twice. I guess you got it? I've since deleted it.) The Oxycodone doesn't really touch it much. About the only things that help me when it gets bad is inversion and the TENS.

The only way I know to tell if it's the sciatic nerve is with an MRI, or at least an x-ray.

Ok, first I will start off by saying here is basically what is wrong with my lower back,....

-At L2-L3 moderate facet spurring

-At L3-L4 desiccation (drying) of disc with diffuse bulge
-Moderate spurring of the facets causing posterior lateral impression on thecal sac
-Canal is 12mm The diameter of the normal lumbar spinal canal varies from 15 to 27 mm.

-Moderate narrowing of foramina

-At L4-L5 desiccation of disc with diffuse bulge of annulus
-Moderate spurring of the facets
-hypertrophy with fluid in facet joints
-narrowing of canal to 10mm
-moderate narrowing of foramina
-mild narrowing of lateral recesses

-At L4-L5 central posterior protrusion of the disc
-elevated T2 signal
-fissure of annular fibers that can cause disc herniation (focal back pain)
-Moderate spurring of facets
-mild narrowing of lateral recesses
-moderate stenosis
IMPRESSION: Degenerative disc disease and facet disease of lower lumbar spine.
Mild to moderate foramina stenosis at lowest 3 levels
L5-S1

OK........on top of that I get headaches-bad ones.
I was on 30mg IR oxycodone every twelve hours. Now,...my doctor dropped me as a patient and I'm starting to go through withdrawls. I see a pain management doctor for cortizone shots only. She said I should see him for pain medication because she thinks that tolerance is the same thing as addiction. How she got through medical school is beyond me but I digress. So now I'm sick and full of rage and alittle confused.
I see a Neurosurgeon on friday. I don't know if I will make it that long by just ending my life because of it all or where to turn to.
PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME :~(

Why don't you look for a spine specialist? I have written extensively on this topic, so go back and read this thread, especially my posts. You should try a lumbar sympathetic block or other direct intervention therapies.

If you talk to any successful pain patient, you will discover that opiates account for, at most, 20% of their pain relief.

^ this. My problem is a lot of the other treatments for my condition aren't available here and it pisses me off no end. This country sucks ass :(

Yes actually, now that you mention it. That's somewhat infrequent, but a lot of times when I move my leg a certain way, it will make the testicle on that side twitch.

I actually didn't get that message you originally sent...not sure why. It's alright though.

I do plan on getting diagnostics sometime in the near future when finances permit. I'm wanting to get MRI's of my l-, t-, and c-spine, and I have debilitating problems in my lumbar, but I have most of my pain in my thoracic and cervical spine.

My pain Doc is experimenting with different narcotics so I can get on an extended release and have a breakthrough medication instead of just the 10/325 oxycocone only.
They tell me if I don't like the drug to bring it back and they will rx me another. Has any one ever done this or heard of this?

I have had a problem with neuropathic pain in my peripheral nervous system because of this quite rare haderitary disease. I´m now 33 years old and I´ve been suffering pain since I was around 20-21 years old. So quite long.. In my country it is very very difficult to find a good doctor to manage painissues and that´s the reason I really suffered a great deal for a year until I found this amazing doctor who started my medication immediately and send me to more examinations.

I´ve used tramadol for almost ten years and temgesic for worse situations. Then couple years ago we changed the medication to these Norspan patches which actually worked fine with me. Then my doctor organized me to this neurostimulator-trial and it was helpful and now I´m of the every day pain pills. I still use pregabalin, amitriptylin, cymbalta regularly and various stuff if needed.

Couple of moths ago I stupid went and tried to iv. oxy, morphin and subutex. Well that was it... Now I´m kinda hooked on those. I really need now to control my use more and just use stuff mainly as recretional purposes so that I won´t risk the main pain management which works well now.

So, my point is for all the guys and girls who really suffer of some injury-based or other chronical pain - don´t start to mess that much with meds.. It can start a difficult season in your life.

Yeah, we actually have that also in my country but there isn´t more than one or two drugstores which sells cannabis for painmedication (or some other trouble). It´s even harder to get than any other medicine because of the tabu related to it. I think the last figure of users was 7 or 8 - TOTAL in whole country. All of these I believe gets the help from the medicine.

Here you just need to fight back against the doctors/system/prejudices to get something stronger than ibuprofeine or paracetamol... :X

But, what is good news for us peopple suffering from chronic pain problems - the discussion sbout treating the pain has rise enormously so that might lead some day to a situation when you get really treatment for the pains also.

I can't even get get mjj in my country :(

I have been battling for 28 months with my condition, crps. And alot of the treatments aren't available to me in this country it sucks. Having a really bad time at the minute because of the weather worst pain relapse so far.

I can understand what you´re going thru. Before I get to this amazing doctor who really first time helped me, I was like a zombie... I couldn´t sleep more than some while at a time before the pain woke me up. I couldn´t get any medicine because the doctor at public healthcare wouldn´t even think of giving me anything than paracetamol because he had read from some publification that "usually" my disease doesn´t cause pain. Usually... It didn´t help what I said and tried to convince him. I was really at the edge of suicide. It was a hell 24/7.

I think that UK is still far ahead my country in pain management. We are still trying to learn and change the attitudes.

-Hooddood78

Nope the uk is one of the worst countries for pm that there is, I was traumatised by a pain management dr.

It is the biggest bag of spunk ever.

Where are you if you don't mind me asking?

Healing thoughts to you <3
