Hey, I've been searching around this site and others and I can't seem to find much on the time release mechanism for purdue OCs.
How much oxycodone is generally released per hour? Do they really last 12 hours when taken properly?
Also, I read that the time release still works when you break the pills? Is this true? I'm not talking about crushing it, just cutting one in half or something.
I'm trying to make my OCs last until I get some more. Funny that I've been using OC for years on and off and this is the first time I have actually tried to use the time release.
To figure out how much is released per hour, divide the milligram of the pill by 12. This will give you a rough estimate. I've heard some people report the OCs will last about 8 hours before they start experiencing pain again. Other people say it lasts the full 12 hours. I think it has a lot to do with your metabolism and other factors.
The time release will still work if you break the pill into half (or quarters, whatever). The time release is a matrix present throughout the whole pill, NOT just the coating (like some people believe). Crushing it is the only way to get around the time release.
Good luck !
