How're you doing today?
^^I'd say it's also important to note what KIND of drug tests they are performing. This drastically changes how you approach the whole situation. Many docs simply do a "dip stick test"(or POC)...of which there are varying kinds of varying accuracy and detection time. But, especially in pain management clinics, they often do GC-MS testing, which isn't fooled by fake urine, and can detect drug use for a MUCH MUCH longer period of time. This is what they do at my clinic....EVERY visit.
^^^ yikes, i feel for ya man, i hope that didnt screw things up for you.
So far, ive had nothing but urine tests, and i noticed the last few times he actually handed me the script BEFORE he asked me to piss in the test bottle. I think it must really have alot of variables (I.E. - age, condition, past history, geographical location)
I would like to add my 2 cents to what was said about how to get scripts from a doc for pain..this is something I have being doing for over a decade (for actual pain) and some things that were given as advice aren't necessarily true. For example, I have a very extensive knowledge of many many different drugs prescription and street. You don't have to play ignorant, you can do that but more than likely dr will think you have no experience with opiates so it will take forever to get where you want to be. All I say when requesting a change of medication or dosage is that I talked to the pharmacist or did some research online about my condition and that what I am currently taking is not helping in an acceptable way so lets try [enter opiate name here]. Ive had 2 pain docs and a surgeon essentially allow me to choose my own scripts because I let them see I educated myself from professionals as well as self research. Also when they ask for your pain score NEVER say 10 and tell them you will never say ur pain is a 10 because it can always be worse (medieval torture is going to be worse than ur slipped/degenerative disc). Another thing when you get drug tested, which you will the first time you see the doc and at least once a year after that if you are prescribed meds and you are taking piss in with you (which I do) you had better make sure it aint clean piss, that you will come up positive for what you are prescribed because they will be looking for that. Levels of the drug isn't nearly as important as just the prescribed drugs being present in urine test, people process differently and if your pain is actually not controlled very well I have gotten away with multiple times saying I had to take more of instant release medication than was prescribed because pain spiraled that far out of control I felt it was only thing I could do. After I said that dr. raised my dosage and daily quantity. What ive learned through all these years of visiting docs for surgery consults and pain management is don't try and outsmart your doc, he more than likely will see right through bullshit but if you have a solid relationship and he knows you are in serious pain you will get farther telling some semblance of the truth instead of concocting a lie. One thing to lie through your teeth about tho is previous drug use and current drug/alcohol use. They wont give someone who they know has an addiction problem controlled substances, at least not good ones to take home. So pass your drug tests, let them know you aren't retarded, follow their treatment suggestions even if you don't want to, I cant count how many injections ive gotten that I knew wouldn't help and hurt like a sonofabitch but being willing to do anything to make pain better goes a long way with them.
My last PM appointment was 7 weeks after my previous due to work travel. Since my meds had run out I was taking poppyseed tea to bridge the gap. I quit the tea 5 days before my appointment and ended up with a urine screen. Not sure how that turned out. Will try the poppyseed rolls at Christmas excuse if i need to but even that probably won't work. I checked my contract and there was nothing about poppyseed intake (my sister in Texas has restrictions on poppyseed muffins, etc.)
Funny though- I am prescribed 10mg Oxy 4x a day which does not even come close to the quality or length of pain relief I get from poppyseed tea
Do you think It will be really bad? What like if I was on ot for months? Or mild...should I quite CT or taper..??You definitely will. Be prepared to use the kratom.
