Opioids The Opiate high after addiction

OP I've never experienced anything like you describe. Usually my doses have increased following the increase in tolerance, which in turn eventuates some nausea and/or vomiting. However, I've never had smaller doses lead to increased nausea.

I find that when I'm addicted to opiates the "high" becomes shorter and less euphoric. Lately, I've become more of an occasional user rather than a habitual user and I find the high to be far more euphoric and long lived. Perhaps you should cut down the frequency of use?

Yeah the exact same thing happened to me when i was hooked on oxies. after doing them for months the high kinda stopped being a high and more of a down. They would make me sick and i would usualy vomit usualy an hour after injestion.

to get the awesome feeling back, I started experimenting with pill cocktails.

Oxycontin + Benzocycloprine (AKA Flexeril) + Gabapentines = Intense Euphoric state, almost too intense.

I then moved onto other opiates like Fentanyl and Methadone with these combos to increase the high of these drugs also.

Then finaly got into Heroin (Smoked/insnuffilated) before i realised what Chasing the Dragon actually means.

The Dragon being the High metaphorically.

Honestly now i would never go back to pills, such a waste of money compared to Heroin. More bang for your buck, and i dont need combine pills with it to get the needed euphoric effects. only problem is once you start chasing the dragon, he/she gets harder and harder to chase, and you need more and more to catch up to him.

I beat my addictions though, Although im still inlove with the high, ive learned how to say no after multiple relapses and horrible withdrawls.

You nailed what I was going to say to a T brotha. I quit using pills on and off and would get back on them and the same things happened to me.. I've heard that if you quit opiates/pills and then start back on them thangs you will actually withdrawal worse than the first times you would withdrawal, if that makes any sense.

Then I quit doing pills all together and got on suboxone. I had been on the subs for a little bit and then my buddy introduced me to the dope! And man I was in love with it (still am). I actually banged it up for the first time and have yet to snort it. Anyways looking back on how much $ I spent on all the roxies I used to do makes me fucking sick. I wish I would have been introduced to the d sooner so I could have used all that cheddar on the heroin. Pills are so damn expensive and a waste of money. Shit now I can't get those big amounts of money I used to come up with to actually buy something that's worth it! Oh well lesson learned!

Yeah, this is a weird phenoninum....I can abstain for opiates for a week, month or longer and not get a great buzz. I can also use the next day and be BLOWN AWAY with the same dosage. I think part of it has to deal with your mood and sorroundings. It's strange, and it can be real hit and miss.

the only way you will continue to enjoy opiates the way you want to is to put some space between uses, hands down. you can go a couple days in a row once in a while, but imo , you will maintain a tolerance that doesnt go up if you can manage to not use two weeks out of the month. might sound hard, but you shouldnt be chasing dope around like a dog in heat anyway, it makes you lose sight of your priorities.

i love heroin though, enough to respect that i need my body to recharge between uses.
ive used maybe 4 or 5 days out of the month for the last two and every time its fucking awesome! (Not like the first time, but if i went longer im sure it would be)

dont do dope kids, lol

I only read the first 10 responses but yes this effect is true. Drug addiction is CHRONIC AND PROGRESSIVE disorder, meaning when we stop and return to it, no matter how long of time in between, we pick up right where we left off

^ That's not really the 'effect' I was talking about. Lately I've been taking a few weeks off between binges, usually between 3-5 days in length, and what I'm trying to say is that I require MUCH less than when I began the break to feel effects, but they are NOT pleasant effects, I feel nauseous and often end up vomiting. It is not enjoyable in the least, zero euphoria, but if I use more than 2 days in a row my body will THEN 'accept' the drug and I will go back to being able to feel kinda high and not super sick. When I was using daily I never had this feeling sick problem, except when I didn't have or couldn't get the pills, ha.

Thanks all for the responses, it's good to know a few of you have this same experience. I'm hoping it will just help me get off the shit for good, because by the time my body has adjusted to opiates again I'm setting myself up for yet another physical withdrawal.

^Well, maybe the doses you are taking those first few days are too high? I notice this when taking breaks from benzos and opiates, the amount required for effects is really miniscule compared to the amount needed when taking regularly. I'd lower your dose even more on those first days back and see how you like the effects. With oxycodone, I often go between 20mg required for strong effects with no tolerance to 40-80mg needed with tolerance.

^ Your tolerance is very similar to mine. With tolerance I need 40-80mg oxycodone as well, but it is just crazy to me because the other day I only did FIVE mg of Opana IR and felt extremely sick later. I know this is a different drug, but it's not THAT different. The same thing happens when I use oxycodone (my DOC) in small doses at first, even only like 20mg.

I think I am about to pick up some 30s either tonight or tomorrow (celebrating summer break lol), and since it has only been five days since my last binge ended I won't be able to properly assess this strange effect, since my tolerance is already kinda up from last Wednesday, the last day I used. However, after this I plan to take a 3-4 week break and start very small, perhaps 10mg at first, and use incrementally at first until I reach the desired effect without getting sick, if this is even possible for me anymore.

I recall reading some time ago about environmental tolerance, or something along those lines. If I recall correctly, the more you're used to using in a certain type of environment, the more tolerant you will become to doing it in that environment. If you do it in the comfort of your home every day, you will build a tolerance to it's effects on you in your own home, whereas if you used the same amount outdoors or some other area, it would affect you more. If true, this might not be a direct cause of what's being described, but at least somewhat of a factor in it.
