i would recommend the nuggets box set, "Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968"
also, the holy modal rounders album "The Moray Eels Eat The Holy Modal Rounders" which is psychedelic, to be sure...but not necessarily in the same vein as the more predictable psychedelic rock bands. they were allegedly the first band to use the word "psychedelic" in a song.
absolutely agree with the person that mentioned Faust.
fuck yeah. i would recommend Can and a lot of other 'krautrock' artists as well. much more interesting than most music that cops the 'psych' tag IMO. maybe i'm just a snob but i think there is a lot more to psychedelic rock than the doors and pink floyd.
