The Official Psychedelic Rock Thread v. Interstellar Overdrive

Kingston Wall is awesome - and all of their albums are going to be released on vinyl in not so distant future, this year maybe. Check out Mr Peter Hayden too. It's quite different, heavier instrumental psych / space rock.

The Flaming Lips are the most psychedelic band that I listen to, but they don't sound much like 60's-70's psychedelia.

Against the Day - Land of Kush

This is far out psychedelic, avant-garde, mind freak shit. I mean, check out the album cover for fucks sake!

If nobody has mentioned these guys yet, 'The Brian Jonestown Massacre', are awesome, very uplifting (yet dark and challenging at times), with a very psychedelic feel!!!

Dumbo gets mad, flaming lips, tame impala, MGMT (second album, first one is mainstream garbage), Allah Las, Jonathan Wilson, A Place To Bury Strangers (more shoegaze-y but psychedelic IMO)

Check these ones out:
Red krayola (The Parable of Arable Land is one messed up insane trip of an album)
Spirit
Captain beyond
Os mutantes
Love
Jefferson airplane
The zombies
The dukes of stratosphear (really good xtc side project, sounds like a 60's album but it came out in the 80's)
The soft machine
Silver apples
Gong (you can't go wrong with the radio gnome trilogy)
Some Krautrock that is pretty damn trippy:
Ash ra tempel (their debut is a total trip, maybe the trippiest thing I've heard so far, 2 long songs space trips one 26 mins and another about 20 minutes.)
Amon duul II
Can
Neu!
Cluster
Faust

Check these bands out if you want stuff that is actually trippy, unlike some of the other stuff posted here.
(The eagles, seriously?)

Hendrix (bootleg material, check out "Seven Dollars")
Gong
John Coltrane (Village Vanguard Sessions and everything after/during 64/65)
Can
Ornette Coleman (particularly Science Fiction Sessions and Body Meta)
Pink Floyd (72-77 some amazing bootlegs out there)
Muddy Waters- Electric Mud
Sly and the Family Stone
Sun Ra

After listening to that song I feel like I've transcended the bounds of our physical reality and become one with the infinite glory of the universe 8o

Or maybe its all that weed I just smoked...hmmmmmmmmm...

Constellation Records. Solid.

also the can album tago mago is one giant trip

Faust! (the Faust tapes)

These guys are mythical! :D

I only own their self-titled LP (in FLAC!), but they are way out there just the way you expect Krautrock to be. They have a jazzy flair to them, which I enjoy. Totally experimental and weird, in a good way. Recommended.
