my cat stands on my desk in my face when i am smoking there. i swear she wants some. if i exhale in her face she squints a little but sniffs it a lot. shortly afterwards she will be sleeping again. the other cat seems to hate smoke.

I think some cats do like it, but not dogs. Our cat in Denver liked it & would always come around too, while we blazed. They seem the type anyway. Very discreet fuzzy little things.

If anyone is intrested in what Acepromazine is.... found this little tid bit.
They don't use it on people apperently. Doesn't sound too pleasent.

It is a phenothiazine compound. Its mode of action is only partially understood but it involves blockage of dopamine nerve receptors in the brain. It causes tranquilization and also has an anti-emetic effect. This makes it especially useful for treating car sickness, since that is often a combination of fear and motion sickness in dogs.

Yeah giving your pet drugs is just not cool. Now blowing hits in there face is hilarious. Some pets I know love to get high. That surely puts them to sleep. I know a dog that loves getting wasted too. The dog literally steals brew from the cooler. Pops the can, and licks all the beer up.

That's what it is. Again, I'm not advocating its use to knock your pet out because it's more convenient, I've just had to give it to animals that had to be taken to the vet.

i can understand why the egyptians made there cats gods i mean look at them they are fuckin awesome, well mine is anyways and whenever im nice and baked my cat always comes and cudles more than usual its weird but cool the feline species are definatly the most unique

Yeah, I can't see jammin a pill down your pet's throat or mixed in with its food, but when you're tokin & poochy or kitty comes along, sticking their fuzzy little schnozolas in the path of smoke, these creatures want to cop a buzz, no doubt. Just like humans...some want no part of weed or hash, but others will approach people if they see them smoking...same thing with pets. Cool as fuck. 8( 8o =D

^^
yeah, I'm sure your cat or dog is thinking "Hmmm... a little spliff would hit the spot right about now"
Fuck's sake... by all means take whatever drugs you want to yourself. Leave the animals the fuck alone.

Damn man, you really do know my pets. Ever think of becoming a proctologist? In fact, since you know what others are thinking, I'll just bet you know what my next line was going to be. 8) :p

there seem to be a load of threads going on pets and drugs so i'm going to merge them all here.

please keep all discussion on the subject here.

Great idea!
Yeah and I think all these "pets and drugs" threads might as well be closed down ... irresponsible shit like doesn't deserve any discussion on our beloved Bluelight!

It's one thing to blow a little marijuana smoke vaguely into the direction where your dog's lying, but blowing hits in their face is stupid.

(BTW I'm saying this because I did, I mean, my dog [RIP Geri] hated cigarette smoke but when I was alone at home toking up he sure seemed to like that smell - can't blame him, really)

Oh an if anyone makes a joke about my dog being named after a Spice Girl there'll be another murder in their town tonight.

ANIMALS & DRUGS A response to several posts

Hi,
To answer your post about getting your pets high....
First of all, you should be aware that animals are MUCH more sensitive to drugs than humans are,and also react differently than we do. For example, animals should NEVER be given something as mild as Tylenol. Even though we usually have no negative effects from this, they do. Chocolate is another example. They can consume chocolate for years and nothing will happen, but suddenly, that one little piece can kill them. The toxicity builds up and there is no telling when a reaction will happen. So, the person here who's animal begs for brownies....think about the risk you're taking and also realize that your dog may be begging for the chocolate- not the drug.. This is also another example of an animal not knowing what is or isn't good for them. An animal's body chemistry is different than us humans which is why there is such controversy going on with drug testing on animals. Each animal reacts differently depending on the species, size, weight, age, and simply their individuality. A friend of yours who could be the same age, sex, race, and size as you are, can become drunk from one beer, whereas you may be able to drink a whole six pack before getting a good buzz. (Just an example) It's sometimes hard to tell when our pets don't feel well since they rarely complain and are also so preoccupied with protecting us or just being near. They get headaches, migraines, depression, nausea, dizzy, and hungover. We can't tell how severe their condition may be since they can't talk and rarely cry unless in extreme pain.(I'm separating their emotions from physical pain since that's a whole other monster). I've participated in surgeries on dogs, cats, rats, horses, etc. of all sizes, ages, and problems. They all react differently to anesthesia, pain meds (such as Ketamine), and recovery. One dog can react totally opposite to meds as the other of the same breed and weight, etc. Some have even died from a small amount of anesthesia, sometimes while under, and some while coming down from it. A couple of you mentioned blowing smoke in your dogs ear. WOAH! If you only knew the anatomy of the ear, especially a dogs ear, you would realize the damage you are causing. I'm not referring to the high this time. I'm talking about physical damage. A dog strongly relies on his hearing(and sense of smell), and it is multiple times more sensitive than a humans. I'm always worried about how animals are perceived and treated. To sum it up, I would strongly advise AGAINST giving anything to your pet. Even pot can give them a headache. I've seen SO MANY people get their pets high on SO MANY things. I personally, think there is nothing funny watching an animal sleep for hours or days, digging up the yard, seeing a dog obsessively gnaw his paw, or locking a cat in a cooler so you can blow smoke in! This last one reminds me of the experiment aired on TV about the poor dog Bin-Laden tested his crap on while the animal was locked in a glass box. And about your animals going nuts after you get them high? How do you feel when you do too much speed? Pretty anxious, shaky and out-of -control, huh? You'd being running around the yard or chewing on your hand, too! A major difference here is that YOU would know exactly why you're feeling the way you do. The animals have no idea why this change is happening to them. It might look funny, but you never know why the animals acting so weird. Could be that he feels pretty crappy. Besides, animals are always on a natural high which has always made me jealous. I try to learn from them and sometimes wonder how they get their energy or how they stay so damn happy. Ya got me on that one! If you want to see them high, give them a good back scratch and a long walk. Let me know if you have any other questions.

mycat

i have a big fluffy cat, and when iam on the backporch smokin a j he'll jump up on the railing and sniff around and wait for me to blow some smoke in his face. if iam standin he'll be scratchin my pants up and meowin.. the cat likes weed i think. i never give him more than a few hits though, dont want him to get stupid and hit by a car.

I believe it! Years ago, when about 6 of us rented this big old house, we had a cat that just loved weed smoke blown into its fuzzy little face. All you had to do was spark 1 up & kitty would be on you in a NY minute to inhale the puffage. Kitty got blasted.

Getting animals fucked up on drugs

Is it considered animal cruelty? Sometimes I get so depressed thinking about the dull, meaningless lives of domesticated animals and other household pets that I just have to try to do something about it. My friend has this cat that is always around when we're getting stoned. So sometimes we'll blow hits into its ear and observe the highly entertaining effects that ensue shortly. Usually the cat just chills the fuck out and starts looking really tired and stoned. Sometimes it'll fall off of whatever it happens to be reposed on. I think some animals like getting stoned, especially cats. When I used to sneak out of the house to smoke, I would always get swarmed by the cats in the neighborhood.
I also find it interesting to blow smoke into my other friend's spider cage?box?aquarium? whatever the fuck they're called. Usually the spider just falls off its web and move around looking really retarded and debilitated. Am I just fucked up or do other people find this shit entertaining too?
