*cough* I count 5 SEC teams in this week's rankings, to the big ten's 4 *cough*
we could go around and around about this, and I don't put much value in any kind of silly numbers argument like the one I just typed, but don't you think it's a bit silly to lump the big ten (which is having a sub par year, excluding ohio state) with the SEC, which is always like this (people beating up on each other, spoiling title hopes). I think if we did a side by side, like the PAC 10 / SEC one above, the SEC would overwhelm the big ten 9 games out of 10.
One loss teams are supposed to be in the running for the NC, imo. The system is fucked when you have unbeatens that are clearly not competitive (kansas, imo). I know their tough games are still ahead of them, but there are really only 3 good conference in NCAA football, and they've all been mentioned in this post. Things will change, like they always do, but right now, I personally think boisie state, conneticut, hawaii, and BC can piss up a rope.
