the official NCAA football thread

I live in Florida I know who they play. W Virginia and Auburn. I have said it was good they beat AUburn, and Im not saying USF sucks completely. ALso, Auburn aint even the Auburn they were last year, rather a faint shadow. Florida was stupid to have lost to Auburn, LSU didnt get it done either. They were not the LSU that they could be. Look at W VIrginias schedule, they dont play anyone either. UConn sucks too. They have a schedule. I have talked to MANY people in TAMPA that say they have a easy schedule. Unranked teams shouldnt even be considered, they play 9 unranked teams. W. Virginia I believe plays less than that, and Ohio State plays less than that.

Actually though, my dad agrees, but thinks USF can beat Ohio State, I cant buy that one though...

Word to the wise, dont always buy into the hype, dont always listent to what the talking heads on TV say.

I was using semantics as a word for a pointless argument, he called me out for rounding off, which in its self is dumb... CravNbeets, are you an english major or something, You have called me out for grammar and stuff in the past.... people call 9 years a decade all the time, that is less accurate than my statement and no one gasps then...

Also, Last year when I was on about the same thing with Ruthers and Louisville I believe you eventually said I had a good point when I called that Rutgers was going to beat Lousiville after Louisville beat WV then Rutgers Loses to USF because they are all weak and play noone in their schedule

But nomatter how much we all disagree, I must say You Guys are Great! We should get together in Rebruary and sing Koombya

it's so funny how shitty the SEC is turning out to be. I love the SEC and think it is the greatest division in college football, but this year it is pure trash. when Kentucky dominates the league and Vandy wins some games... sorry SEC, you look very terrible. Michigan would destroy Vandy and Kentucky.

oh well, Ohio State will probably make it to the National Championship... again. it really isn't anything new for us Buckeye fans. we're kind of a big deal in college football.

... Kentucky isn't dominating. They're in a tie for second place in the SEC east with 2 conference losses and two wins. South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida are all outperforming Kentucky, and thats in the weaker of the two divisions.

The only team with a losing record in the SEC to date is Ole Miss.

Vandy has won one fluke game (south carolina, and has otherwise performed as expected, beating other cellar teams in the SEC (Ole Miss), out of conference cupcakes (Eastern Mich., Richmond) and losing to any team that expects to be bowl eligible (Auburn, Alabama, Georgia). If they beat Miami Ohio (expect it) and wake forest (cross your fingers), the Commodores will be headed to a bowl game, which is all they wanted. They might even pull off another upset against a team that isn't bringing their A game (looking at tennessee, or kentucky).

Could they beat Michigan? Of course they could, since I'm pretty confident they could beat App state. Beat them consistantly. Nah, probably not. They could probably hand Indiana and Minnesota their asses on the regular, and take a good number from Iowa and MSU. And you know they'd beat Notre Dame this year (ya, they're one of your shitty ass midwestern schools, Big 11 or not).

Keep boasting. I can't wait to see an inferior Penn or Michigan, two teams that would absolutely wither in the SEC, hand the buckeyes their asses.

Hrm...Vandy? Michigan? ...would anyone remember last year when it was still 13-7 @ Michigan at halftime? That same year MICH was the 'second best team' in the country to OSU? Oh, sorry, first game of the year....I forgot MICH always stumbles, even on a team that was worse last year than it is this year 8) (I see they were too afraid to play a home and away with Vandy :p ;) )

That said, I'd be more than happy to put KY vs MICH in a neutral site...possibly even at MICH. KY isn't afraid of anything or anyone. They've proven they can score a lot (unless you'd like to argue the SEC defense isn't all that good....which I'm sure any OSU fan would love to say...but can't).

I wouldn't say the SEC is in shambles. And I wouldn't say the West is better. I'd take the whole SEC east against any conference and match our six to their top six. I'd be willing to bet we'd win at least half, if not more. Then again, I'd be embarrassed to make that comment knowing TN and Vandy were in that mix, but yeah, I'd place a bet.

Who cares how the SEC is defensively, Ohio State is #1.

From si.com today:

#1 defense.
#1 points allowed.

Just sayin...

And we all know defense wins ball games. :D

ps. Go Bucks!

BA, isn't OSU's defense supposed to be what got them thru this season, with so many offensive stars leaving? The same awesome defense that gave MICH so many points last year? Oh, and Florida? Yeah...enjoy those 'defensive' stats until you play a real offense.

/fills another cup of SEC-koolade for my buddy atlas

The SEC is in shambles? no.

The SEC has more ranked teams than anyone else.
The only losses that Florida, LSU, and South Carolina, Kentucky, and Georgia have are to SEC teams. WHat we have in the SEC are a bunch of extremely talented teams locked in a struggle to be the best of the best of the best. We only get 2 or 3 counting Ole Miss and Vandy easy teams per year, and this year it aint been as easy!

Ohio State plays only one ranked opponent this year, and on average 3 per year, BA, you just keep on pointing out my addition mistakes, and axl you can continue to Make fun of the SEC for Kentucky being any good when your arch Nimesis isnt even ranked, our most easiest game of the season is now a real powerful team thats, oh yeah, ranked.

oh yeah, Ohio State, you guys are a big deal in College Football, you have absolutley no competition in your conference, your as bad as Florida State in their prime. They had no compettion at ALL until Miami got in the ACC, now, you barely hear about either.

I can guarantee that Ohio State would not last two weeks in the SEC

what are you talking about? of osu's remaining schedule 2 teams are ranked in the top 25, and i'd expect illinois and wisconsin to end up back the top 25 before the season ends. also perdont and uw were ranked when they played the buckeyes. oh, and im assuming that by "Nimesis" [sic] you meant michigan, they're ranked 20th.

edit: now all of that being said, its a travesty that there's only 1 sec team in the top 10 but i think we all can acknowledge that thats due to a flawed system and not unbeatens with a weak schedule :)

Currently there are two teams that OSU are playing ranked. Lots of people played people that were ranked at the time, but time showed they were overrated and they got knocked out.

Yea UM is ranked, barely, they dont even play one team in the top 15, come on, how can you be defending OSU, like they do have a tough schedule. USF has a tougher schedule than OSU, and Im REALLY considering changing my statement that OSU would beat USF.

5 of floridas oppinents are ranked currently, and if you go by your way of measurement, most of them were ranked at one time ranked.

OSU only has ever had 5, and currently 2.... its ridculous that teams can just go around acting like they are the best in the country with out ever actually having to prove it. OSU sure is getting to the meat of their schedule though... if they have one

The SEC is generally there at week 3 and it ends in December

Still kicking ideas, and while we can't institute a playoff, we can play what-if and guess at how you'd see a playoff setup. For me, it'd be the top 4 teams, let them play mid (2 weeks after the conference championships), then the winners face off 2 weeks later for the ultimate championship. Forget any conference ties, and ND privileges 8) , just take the top 4 and let 'em go. Taking the top 2 is always an issue on who should be there. And I understand that going with the top 4 means #5-#8 will bitch saying why not us. Well, because you couldn't get into the top 4, thats why, dumbass.

I know the lower divisions go thru like 16 team playoffs or something, but I accept that the bowls aren't going to go away and thereby need to be accomodated for. Let the bowls keep their alliances and traditions, just let the BCS idiots keep their 'system' of rotating which of the big 4 bowls are being used - one or two for 'bowl games' and two for playoff (possibly a third for the championship). Yes, it's all about money, and that means two teams get a double dip in the money pot - they'll have earned it.

Thats what Ive always invisioned in the playoff, use the current bowls for the playoff, the bigger bowls are further down the line. Like the Orange an the Sugar. THen bowls like the citrus and the outback bowl are in the start of the playoff
