I think they need to get a new spinner into the ranks. Warney isn't going to last for many more years and McGill is getting on a bit.

Note the top Australian batsmen (Langer) barely scrapes in the top 4 of English batsmen, goes to show our batsmen definatley let us down.

I tell you whats right about the picture- steve waugh, he'd never let go of the ashes!
Ponting's captaincy was pretty poor through out the series, he had no plan except what was kept from Waugh and Taylor's tactics which the English studied very well since we've had the same tactic for the last decade- attack the bowling hard and give the ball to warne and mcgrath. Shane Warne would make a better captain in terms of field placements and bowling line-ups IMHO- pity he's such a tool off the field and lacks the respectability to ever be australian captain. Give Buchannan the arse- bring back bob simpson and do some fielding practice ffs.
Also fuck damian martyn off- now every team in the world knows to stack the offside field and bowl a good line outside off stump he wont score and when he gets frustrated he gets out! I've always hated him although i agree with deeCee whenever i dump shit on him does well.

I think the fact that Ponting ended up taking on some of Vaughn's feild placings juts goes to show how much better prepared the English team were for this Ashes series. They had a plan for every Aussie batsman and implemented them perfectly. It seemed to me Ponting was happy to change his feild going on the defensive everyitme there was a bit rubbish being bowled instead of getting in his bowlers ears and saying " look, this is the feild i am setting and this where i expect you to put the fucking ball........and that's not pitching short or on middle and leg stump"![:\](https://bluelight.org/xf/BL_Images/Orig_Emoji/wrygrin.gif "wry grin :\")
I think in the first couple of tests we tried the Offensive feild placings but the big hitting poms (Flintoff, Strauss, Peiterson) just belted us around the park making our feild positions kind of ineffective, which hasn't happened to the Aussies in a good number of years, which probably (undoubtedly) put us on the backfoot.swifty said:

they need to be thrashed for the rest of this year IMO, they really need to get their act together and think about playing cricket instead of mucking about thinking they are going to win anything easy again.
