The official antidepressant/psych meds thread

ive just been prescribed 50 mg of zoloft for Generalized anxiety disorder and some depression and im noticing a huge improvement, plus im probably going to bump my dose higher since its a ridiculously low dose. One question though why does everyone find zoloft terrible, im doing great on it.

Clonazepam 2mg a day for anxiety and panic attacks.

Amitriptyline 100mg taken at night (originally prescribed for pain but works wonders for my depression and insomnia as well)

I also take various opiates on a fairly regular basis.

Interesting thread indeed...

I was diagnosed with severe anxiety, bipolar, and some unexplainable convulsions. Good, I can use those to my advantage ;)

I am currently on (prescribed):
- 600mg - 1200mg Gabapentin (for all of the above, and it works!)
- 30mg - 40mg d-Amphetamine [as needed] (To counter the fatigue and balance the neurontin - and yes, of couse it works, heh)
- 9mg - 18mg Bromazepam [as needed] (for panic attacks)

Prescribed in the past:
- Buspiron: Did nothing but rob me of all my creativity.
- Venlafaxine: Felt poisoned the first time I took it, never taken it again.
- Alprazolam: Too sedating and zombifying.
- Lorazepam: Not bad, but I prefer the Bromazepam.
- Pregabalin: EXCELLENT, unfortunately too expensive, not covered by insurance and has no generics yet...

Not prescribed, but tried on my own for the above reason:
- Tianeptine: Excellent - instant releif from both anxiety and depression, but short-lasting. Also needs to be imported from Europe.
- Trazodone: I had a few pills of this, I think it was 25mg. I would take it before sleep after a trip or stimulant use and it would allow me to sleep and be in a good mood the next day. I don't know why people don't like this one much.
- Clonazepam: Tolerance to good effects builds up quickly, zombification remains..
- Diazepam: Good drug, bad hangover (probably due to metabolites).

Supplements I take regularly:
- l-Theanine: This is the only supplement I found that actually has a perceptible effect. MUCH better than valerian.
- Vinpocetin/Huperzine mix: The only "nootropic" that seems to have any effect. Helps with memory problems due to meds.
- l-phenylalanine: meh.. it seems to work, I guess?

Non prescription, but interesting:
- Sub-threshold daily doses of Ketamine, AMT and LSD: That was the order of their effectiveness. They all worked very well, but LSD gains tolerance quickly. Ketamine keeps working at the same low dose. AMT produced some side-effects, but I thought I'd mention it since F&B mentioned his experience with the same use.

I'm a huge fan of the Seroquel, it has changed my life and allows me to get proper rest.
Me too! =D

Though I need about 100-200 mg for sleeping purposes. It puts me to sleep in half an hour. Too bad it's so expensive. I've been getting some pills from my friend, but I can't eat his pills endlessly. 8)

I wish I got it prescribed for me and covered by insurance. It's my #1 choice for sleep. :)

I actually had the same question. I only saw myself, you and maybe one other post that praised Zoloft. I have never been on any other antidepressant (so obviously a limited basis for comparison), but have only have good things to say about this drug...has helped me tremendously. The only thing I could say negative about Zoloft is that it makes me lethargic and sleepy sometimes, but that could also be the Xanax I take, so I'm not sure.

Do you mean Klonopin?

Anyone with social anxiety disorder who is taking or has taken Lexapro or Ritalin or Klonopin or Neurontin please send me a PM i'd like to discuss these meds (and any combo of the 4 you have taken) and their effect on SAD, and their side effects. Thanks!!

^^ Most if not all anti-depressants / anxiety meds are just trial and error.. Unfortunately, there's no fail-proof med out (yet) and no way to know which medications will be more effective than others for you personally. It's good to know that you've found relief in Zoloft! I have yet to find any success in these damn psychiatric meds.

Diagnosis:
Major Depression, Panic disorder and a list of anxieties. I'm what you'd call a 'worrier'.

Scripts:
Effexor - currently tapering off. . 187.5 - 0 in 3 weeks is what my psych thinks is good. . after what I've read, though, this seems REALLY fast. I had to negotiate with her to make it 3 weeks instead of 1 1/2 - 2. . [for depression & anxiety]
didn't help. .
Klonopin - 0.5mg/day + when needed . . (I generally need atleast 2 of them to feel any relief) [for anxiety]

Additional:
Weed - daily. . thinking about cutting down / stopping for a bit
Tobacco - cutting down
+ experimentation with other stuff, and drinking

Past meds:
Cipralex
Luvox
Seroquel
Trazedone
Lorazepam
