Many of us suffer from depression and other disorders. In an effort to not feel so alone. How about we all share what we are on and why.

Sex: Male

Age: Don't want to say..

Current Antidepressant(s): 20mg Lexapro, 30mg Remeron

Former antidepressant(s) and why discontinued:
- Zoloft, felt like zombie
-Effexor, wasn't helping
-Wellbutrin, negative reaction to drug

Whipped, did you also get the uncontrollable munchies and daytime sleepiness when you first started on Remeron? Also, my pdoc didn't prescribe an anti-anxiety med since Remeron is an AD/AA combo. How did you manage to get it? These are my stats.

Sex: Male

Age: 17

Current Antidepressant: 60mg Remeron

Former drug(s) and why discontinued:
-Seroquel, felt like zombie and i was actually hallucinating while ON it. Scary stuff, not like anything i've ever tried. Maybe i should start a trip experience.
-Strattera, zombie effect
-Ritalin LA, zombie effect and short duration

Other psychiatric drugs:
-40mg Adderall XR, I really do have ADD
-100mg Trazodone, although i break it into 50mg doses (for sleep)

Male
Age:22

Current Antidepressant(s): Effexor 225mg, Remeron SolTab 30mg

Other Psychiatric Drugs:
Metadate CD 40mg (ADHD med/as needed)
Klonopin 1-2mg (as needed basis)
Lamictal 100mg (mood stabilizer/anti-convulsant)

I didn't list my previous psychiatric meds cuz the list would be too long and honestly I don't remember them all. I'm sticking with the Effexor because it helps my anxiety symptoms better than any other anti-d. I don't suffer depression, just the anxiety so Effexor suits me well and gives me an added boost. The Remeron is simply to put me to sleep and goddamn does it work!! I've tried just about every slep aid there is from anti-psychotics (Seroquel, Zyprexa) to benzodiazepines (Restirol) to other anti-d's (Trazadone) to antihistamines (Vistaril) and those newer shitty sleeping aids like Ambien and Sonata. I had pretty much given up and started hitting the bottle with pills to crash but was put on Remeron and sleep like a baby :D I usually only take .5-1mg of the Klonopin to level my tolerance but at the same time not experience w/d's. The Metadate makes me nervous and bugs me out when I take it daily so I take 40mg only when called for.

Yeah remeron does make ya gain weight, but I agree in that I've tryed everything you could think of as a sleep aid and only remeron works.

I really don't think i should push for Xanax or any benzo right now since i just got my adderall prescribed after like 3 months of tryin. I feel proud yet dissapointed at the same time at how easily i was able to procure a legal source of Adderall, although it's not SO surprising. I practically spent a total day's time over the course of a week dedicated to researching just about 50% of the info out there on adderall and mixed amp slats, yadda yadda yadda...so lesson is: with enough hard work and dedication, you can easily obtain a prescription for just about anything in the Pharmaceutical's Arsenal of legal, prescription drugs.

And also the fact that i actually DO need the drug due to my ADD couldn't of hurt. I hate (actually love/hate) writing such detailed posts but i really can't help it, i'm in the midst of a sleep deprivation experiment and the stimulants have really made me into a nonstop thinking machine 8(

Sex: Male

Age: 21

Current Antidepressant(s): 150mg Zoloft (I don't bother, I've since given up on SSRI's, but this is my prescribed dose)

Former antidepressant(s) and why discontinued:
- Lexapro 10-20mg, no sex drive, no marked improvement, uncomfortable stimulation

Other psychiatric drugs:
-1.5mg Ativan, taken for anxiety

Previous psychiatric drugs:
-Seroquel 25mg 3x daily also previously prescribed at 50mg at night for sleep, zombie drug (Still take to sleep and for rough comedowns)
-Buspar 10mg 3x daily, Mental sedation w/o physical sedation (Felt like smoking two fat schwag blunts, ick)

Any questions?

Just wondering, did you ever notice any hallucinations or weird thoughts when you take your biggest Seroquel dose and fight its sleep inducing effects?

Damn with nearly 50 views and only a few responses maybe I was wrong about thinking a lot of people to be on antidepressants or pyschiatric drugs.

Schizomanic, I have heard and seen strange things just prior to falling asleep. I commonly hear masses of people whispering and another time after taking around 75mg I sat in front of my computer for about an hour trying to find the cursor on the screen. :|

I suffer from no psychotic symptoms, so I'd think these side effects (if you call them that) could be attributed to a combination of being near sleep and the effects of the Seroquel. For anxiety, Seroquel sucks if you like being conscious, but for sleep, it does wonders IME, just never take it if you can't sleep at least 8 hours. I tend to sleep for 10 hours after 50mg.

male, 24, 30mg paxil/day for depression, anxiety. been on it for 4 years now. not sure i actually need it anymore but i'm sure as hell not coming off and suffering the bloody withdrawl

Sex: Female

Age: 22

Current Antidepressant(s): Nothing right now. I've been off anti-depressents for a year and half and while I still have occasional spells of depression, they are short and I've been able to work through them on my own.

Former antidepressant(s) and why discontinued:
-Paxil, made me psychotically happy all the time. I felt that while I wasn't depressed anymore, it wasn't helping me deal with any of the issues behind my depression.
-Effexor, I wasn't happy, but I wasn't sad. My emotions were just flat-lined. I was really lethargic and felt burnt out.
-Remeron, I gained 15 lbs in 2 weeks. None of my clothes fit, and all I wanted to do was sleep. Just gaining the extra weight made me way more depressed, since some of my depression was related to body-image issues.
-Wellbutrin, was the anti-depressent that really worked for me. It gave me a boost of energy and I managed to work through a lot of my problems.

.5mgs of klonopins twice a day along with 50mgs of zoloft. i was on remeron for about 6 months and i couldnt take sleeping so damm much. i got up to 60mgs and stopped taking it alltogether.

so now im going to try zoloft. i tried to tell my psychiatrist my only problem is i have trouble sleeping and anxiety. he said that not being able to sleep is one sign of depression. i tried to get him to up my mg of the klonopins to, but he wouldnt. this guy is a real stickler. its a va hospital, so they have more rules than if i was seeing a regular psychiatrist.

Same exact thing happened to me on Paxil. I didn't want to go off it but when my psych saw how manic I was she took my off it. I felt on top of the world 26/7 on that shit (yes, and the imaginary two hours in between).

Has anyone had the same experience with Remeron? I did, but it goes away rather quickly, maybe after 2-3 weeks.

Not really, Remeron just knocks me the fuck out but the reason I like it so much is cause it stimulants my hunger which was a good thing for me since I was a previous tweeker ( I hate admitting that). Since being on Remeron I've gone from a sickly 130lbs to 168lbs. in one month (5'11). It's almost as if I get a rush from eating on Remeron. :D

Straight SSRI's like Paxil and Zoloft always over-stimulate my excitment, almost manic, I feel way too superior and above everyone else. Maybe cause I don't really suffer from depression, just the anxiety.

Is that healthy? If it is, I sure would like feeling that way all the time again without it wearing off. How would i get my doc to swith me from Remeron to one of those anti-d's? Just tell him him i'm feeling depresses and anxious again? I doubt he'll believe the dpression part since i'm on 40 mg Adderall daily.
