the official 2010 NFL thread!

actually trainwreckmolly could be on to something. Drew Brees and New Orleans' overall potent offense makes it difficult for us to take off our Black and Gold colored glasses.

to back up his poignant point, one could look to the modern trials and tribulations of the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots. Indianapolis most specifically. too often in the NFL teams rack up seasons that flirt towards perfection, only to be smacked down in the playoffs by an NFL team that has 4 losses on the year but happens to be heating hot. it's almost like when you lose in the regular season, if you are a good football team your world-class coaches will make some adjustments and recognize how not to lose again.

however, I am a firm believer in Sean Payton, Drew Brees, their triple-headed beast of a running attack - and their better than average defense. this year is bassackwards because the NFC has two teams that yet deserve to be SuperBowl bound (the Minnesota Vikings). the Steelers smacked the Vikings down, but it seems like after their first and only loss they have come nowhere near the City of Loserville.

it's a great season so far, with tons of worthwhile games having Baltimore, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville (always liked Jack del Rio), Denver, and New York vying for representation in the playoffs. I'm tuned in.

The Cards looked pretty good tonight.

lol @ the Raiders upset

Double lol @ the Miami upset

The Saints and Colts live to brag another day. I still maintain that the Saints > the Colts by far

Everyone else sucks.

i straight up laughed and then said "oh no, sorry axl" and then realized he was a person on the internet...

sorry, axl. :( here is a kenickiekiss for you.

LOL @ miami.

my saints, once again. i nearly had a freak out for a second, i thought i was going to die for a minute. but of course, they pulled it through.

San Diego, who regularly ousts Indy, even when NOT playing at their best, is nicely flying under the Colts-Saints radar.

The Chargers are CLEARLY better than Minnesota, Pittsburgh, New England, Dallas, Philly and the rest of the other "contenders."

It's gonna be either New Orleans, Indy or San Diego.

Everyone else is miles behind those three.

San Diego, riding a seven-game winning streak, with four of those wins on the road, having outscored their opponents this season by a total of A HUNDRED POINTS so far (WAY better point differential than the typical 9-3 team), and having a penchant for being the ONLY team who has been able to handle Indy recently when the stakes are high . . . I submit to you the ONLY team who has a legitimate chance of winning this year's Super Bowl other than the two current 12-0's is THE SAN DIEGO CHARGERS.

Can't wait for the play-offs!

LOL @ the San Diego Chargers. I am not a believer in them because while they turn hot in December, they usually have a difficult time reaching the AFC Championship, nonetheless winning the first round of the playoffs.

rather than the Chargers, I would go with the Arizona Cardinals as the hot team right now. I think that the Cardinals would rip the Chargers a new one if they played right now. their defense halted a phenomenal Adrian Peterson, they have a rejuvanated run game behind Beanie Wells, and Kurt Warner and his plethora of wide receivers are tearing it up.

actually, I would take Cinci and the New England over San Diego, easily.

by far?......really?

the saints got lucky as hell about 5 times to win that game against the lowly 'skins.

one of which was when brees threw than int only to have the bonehead db who intercepted the pass to fumble it back while trying to slide, or whatever the fuck he was doing.

then the missed chipshot by the 'skins kicker.

then zorn boneheadedly called a timeout to "ice" the n.o.'s kicker when he was about to attemt a 57 yarder.

why the fuck would you want to ice a kicker when he's about to try a 57 yarder?

so then, the saints, rightly so, decided to just got for it instead of kicking the 57 yarder.

anyway.....the 'skins blundered that game away.

getting back to my original point.....the saints might possibly be better than the colts. but the whole "by far" thing is just silly.

^ hahaha! but good for Gradkowski, you know? how does Oakland feel about him? I am rather happy for him. JaMarcus was such a lame duck, it's good to see a nobody turn around the once glorious Oakland Raiders. the corporate commodity known as pro-football needs its classic teams like the Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders to be good.

don't get me wrong, I used to be a Chargers fan (moreso back in the day when when they had Marty). LT is a class act, and while Phillip Rivers and Shawn Merriman are most certainly not - they are great footballers.

I used to dig them, but the fact of the matter is that this happens EVERY SINGLE SEASON for San Diego. initially, the play horrible defense and their run game is poor. about halfway through the season they finally figure out some sort of physical football identity, only to lose in the first or second round of the playoffs. I respect your sports opinion, usually, so I would be very interested in what you think makes this year different for Rivers and Co?

that Steelers comment was below the belt, bro. while they have been in similar or worst conditions before (and won the SuperBowl), I concede that this is not the year of the Black and Gold (thanks for the decimating injuries). however, I relish in the fact of the six Lombardi Trophies and I know that every year Pitt is a legit darkhorse SB contender.

and I make sure the drugs never run out. I am no amatuer here.
