Lol... someone I work with was sorely pissed when they took Thompson. I'll be honest, I'm ok with it. I don't know a ton about the kid or anything, but I listen to ESPN radio (Cleveland) on my way to and from work all the time and from what it sounded like, he really impressed them at workouts. I wasn't sold on Valenciunus due to the contract issues he was in the middle of. And with Williams and Kanter already off the board, meh. Cleveland was obviously going Irving number 1, but then the next 4 names I heard thrown out, seriously, were Kanter, Williams, Valenciunus, and Thompson. Cleveland was looking to have someone to walk through the door with Irving. I'm ok with it. I guess we'll see how he performs, though.
Spurs organization is too good. I'm sad to see George Hill go, but I'm excited because I greatly respect the Pacers' organization and can't wait for them to kill the league. I'm not a big fan of Darren Collison, so acquiring Hill upgrades their point big time.
Not like we could pay Hill, who is a monster, after next year anyway, so I'm happy with coming away with the best value in the draft. Gary Neal makes Hill fairly redundant anyway.

Dirk's wind up was like a fucking toy. :D
That was a bad pitch, but yeah... John Wall's pitch was just HORRIBLE.
If I may say, though, not to defend these guys' terrible, TERRIBLE pitches, but I bet when they're out there... it's more to do with nerves than it is ability. I mean, seriously, who can't throw a baseball 66 feet without missing the target by 40 feet? :D

How the fuck does Wade have a higher PER than MJ and Shaq? The Diesel scored more, rebounded more, had the same exact number of assists, and shot a higher %. Jordan scored 3.4 points less but shot a MUCH higher percentage from the field and had 7.6 more assists. The only slight edge he has over Michael is rebounding, so is that what put him over the top? 8)

2006 D-Wade was the greatest Finals performance I have ever seen. Maybe even entire playoff performance. Maybe it's just cause I am a Heat fan
But seriously, I have never seen somebody elevate their game that much. And Shaq the Diesel had run out of all the fumes left in his career by the Finals, that guy was worthless to us in the last and most important round of the playoffs. No disrespect to the guy, he got us there, but Wade won it.

Don't be ignorant. The game plan was to double team the shit out of Shaq and make Wade beat them. Unfortunately for the Mavs, Wade did just that.
That made it easier for Wade to "get his". He doesn't win that title without the Diesel period.

Shaq used to be able to get by with a double team before that. I agree they wouldn't have won the title, as they wouldn't even have been in the Finals, but Shaq was useless for anything other than eating up space and an extra man, against a very good Mavs team.

The Kings have traded small forward Omri Casspi to the Cavaliers for forward J.J. Hickson.
According to a source with knowledge of the deal, the Cavaliers received a first-round pick that is lottery-protected next year, top-13 protected in 2013, top-12 protected in 2014 and top-10 protected from 2015-17. If the Cavs don't receive the pick by 2017, they will receive a second-round pick.
"I'm happy," said Casspi, who became the first Israeli player in the NBA when he was taken 23rd overall by the Kings in 2009. "It's a great opportunity for me to play. [The Cavs] don't really have a '3'-man."
ESPN.com first reported the trade talks.
Casspi had made his frustrations known in recent months, saying publicly that he was hoping to play elsewhere after having an inconsistent role in Sacramento. The Kings, meanwhile, recently traded for small forward John Salmons and also have Donte Greene and Francisco Garcia at the small forward position.
In Hickson, they will be filling a frontcourt need with the 6-foot-9, fourth-year pro who averaged 13.8 points and 8.7 rebounds last season. The move is even more necessary in light of the likely departure of center Samuel Dalembert, as sources close to him say he was disappointed when extension talks went nowhere with the Kings and he is now far more interested signing with a contender in free agency.
Frustrations aside, Casspi expressed appreciation for a Kings team that made his NBA dreams come true and sparked so much joy and support from the Jewish community.
"Sometimes things don't work out, but I'm grateful for the opportunity," Casspi said. "Coach [Paul] Westphal and [Kings basketball president] Geoff [Petrie] changed my life forever."

damn JJ Hickson is a good player with some raw talent. he was nicely groomed the last couple of years by the Cavs and it sucks to see him go. you can't argue with a guaranteed lottery pick though, and the draft for next year has to be better than the draft just past

yeah he was a solid "piece" but who knows you guys could end up with a star instead. plus omri is not to shabby a role player.
cavs have the right mindset, you have to take risks when your in rebuild mode

Dirk's performance with a far worse supporting cast than what wade had was just as good, probably better. Wade was great this year, but Dirk was playing like a basketball god. His finals weren't as impressive as the 06 Wade's, but the entire playoff performance was far better.
Dirk had possibly the single greatest playoff game of all time vs Oklahoma City. Shot 12 for 15 without a single three being shot and scored 40 along with 4 steals and 4 blocks. Oh. And he was 24 for 24 from the line to go along with 13 4th quarter points. He had a far better playoff run against much much better teams than Wade's 06 run. Sure he scored more PPG, but only by.7. Dirk had 4 more RPG in this playoff run than Wade had in 06.
This years draft was one of the weakest ever. The 2012 draft is supposed to be the most stacked draft since 2003. There's gonna be lots of great talent all across the board.

I agree about Hickson for the most part, though it seemed like this past season he took a step back. When Lebron left, it was looking like Hickson was gonna be the go to guy (not that he's anywhere near Lebron's calibre or anything). And though he had a few good games, he kinda came up short. I like the guy, but he's not THE guy.
