the official 10-11 NBA thread ver. LIKE A BOSH

I don't think anybody is trying to under-sell what Dallas did and how magnificent it was. crazy to think about that most people had Portland upsetting them in the first round. and if not a Portland upset, then they had the Lakers easily rolling over them

when Dallas swept the defending champions in the Lakers, I took them suddenly very seriously

Top 5 in the NBA right now? that's tough, but I'll play:

1. Dirk (momentum as Finals MVP)
2. Wade (impressed by his post-season)
3. Rose (overall MVP, good playoffs)
4. Kobe (great player, but swept)
5. Durant (gaining momentum)

As a laker fan and after having watched Kobe my entire life it saddens me to say the knee and age caught up with him last season. Hopefully this extended offseason gave him time to do what he needs to do to have a few more "Kobe" seasons but it looks like he only has one or two left in him. And the young are damn ready to take the torch. Wade looks like he's about ready to have a breakout year, LbJ only needs to add a few more pieces to his game and rose and Durante have limitless potential.

And that Blake Griffin. Within the next two years, he and Durant will be the two best players in the game with Rose and Wade right up there.

No to Griffin and Durant, no way, Durant is garbage at creating his own shots, if Westbrook gets his mind right OKC could get to the finals next year though.

I'm not sold on griffin, normally to be one of the est you need more ball handling skills. There are exceptions but most if the greatest players can all handle the ball very well. One thing he's got going for him is a legit post game which is becoming rare (lebron)

Durant still has no clue how the NBA works, and has consecutive two scoring titles. He is only going to get better, and with his unique body type he could end up the best in the game. I believe he will be the best thing going in a couple of years.

Im going to ask a question to you NBA fanatics I dont follow basketball like I follow football sorry if this is a dumb question. The Clippers seem to have one of the most explosive young players in the game in Blake Griffin but have a history of being a bottom feeding small payroll team. Is there anyway they go after dwight howard or another big name free agent to try and contend or are they gonna be content to sell tickets to see Griffin till he can leave for a contender in free agency?

No. Reputation is the only thing that matters in the NBA, especially with regards to Free Agency. The Clippers have a less than flattering one.

Yeah bro, plus all that mileage too. His explosiveness seemed non-existent, his lateral movement on defense was terrible and he regularly ran out of gas late in games which made it difficult to close teams out or mount comebacks.
I'm kinda hoping there's a lockout so he can fully rehab and be very fresh come playoff time. I'm praying that he returns to his 08-09 form cause I think 2012 could be our final shot at a title in the Kobe era and after that who knows when we'll get another franchise player.

edit: looks like he's already got a head start.

He snuck in without notice: Kobe Bryant, five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers and one of the top stars of the best basketball league in the world, visited the new cold chamber in Bayer 04’s modern rehab facility in the BayArena four times during the last few days.

How was the surprise visit arranged? Bryant’s team had been eliminated from the NBA play-offs by Dirk Nowitzki’s Dallas Mavericks. Bryant is now on a PR-tour for a personal sponsor and currently in Dusseldorf. The contact to Bayer 04’s medical department was set up through the club’s partner Zimmer Medizinsysteme. The company had built the new cold chamber during the last two weeks.

The 1.98 metre tall athlete was welcomed by Carsten Rademacher, Head of the Rehab Centre. Bryant spent three times three minutes in the chamber during the different stages. He started off with minus ten degrees Celsius, followed by minus 60 and finally minus 110 degrees.

As long as Donald Sterling is the owner, no FA will want to go there period.

Spoelstra Will Remain With Heat

Pat Riley told the media on Tuesday that he has no intention to return to coaching and that he continues to back Erik Spoelstra.

Of a possible return to coaching, Riley, 66, said, "No, I'm not going to do that."

He paused, adding, "It doesn't mean I don't have the fire. But we've got a great young coach here."

Riley declined to discuss specifics on the future of Spoelstra.

"Definitely we're going to bring Erik back. As far as any long-term type of situation, that has not been discussed."

Riley Confirms Heat Won't Break Up Big Three

Pat Riley confirmed that the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will remain with the Heat for the 11-12 NBA season.

"There was never any thought, never any discussion of moving any of those guys," he said. "I'm happy we have those three together."

Riley said he could not envision dramatically changing his approach with his roster.

"I don't think you win championships with young, athletic players that don't have experience," he said.

Spurs Offering Parker In Attempt To Acquire Lottery Pick

The San Antonio Spurs are engaged in discussions about trading point guard Tony Parker to secure a high pick in Thursday’s draft, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Spurs have talked to teams in the lottery, including the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings, who hold the fifth and seventh picks, respectively. The Kings are determined to get a frontline point guard, and have also talked with the Denver Nuggets about Raymond Felton.

It’s unclear who the Spurs would prefer to take if they acquired a high lottery pick.

Dear Pistons,

Please do not draft another Darko, and get someone that knows how to win a game or two, such as KEMBA WALKER!

Thank you,

The Bucks, Kings and Bobcats have a three-way trade, sources have confirmed.

Milwaukee will acquire Stephen Jackson, Beno Udrih, Shaun Livingston and the 19th overall selection.

Charlotte will acquire the No. 7 overall pick as well as Corey Maggette. They will keep their own pick, the No. 9 overall selection. The Bobcats are now in position to draft Tristan Thompson ahead of the Pistons, who own the No. 8 pick.

Sacramento will acquire the No. 10 overall pick from Milwaukee, as well as John Salmons.

More players may be added to the deal at a later date.

Fuck the Heat. I wanted Norris Cole. Travis Leslie would've been nice too :/

Oh well Darius Morris looks pretty solid. 6'5 PG who can get into the paint... not very fast but crafty. One of the best pure point guards in the draft. Kobe will give him the shooting bible.

I'm kinda excited about Goudelock though. 2nd best shooter behind Jimmer in the draft and has insane range, check it out:
