the official 10-11 NBA thread ver. LIKE A BOSH

please acknowledge that: Basketball is a Team sport, and the Finals were won by a meticulously assembled Team.

Look at these stats:

how many assists per game did the Heat get from their starting point guards in the Finals?

2 assists per game

how many rebounds per game did the Heat get from their starting center in the Finals?

3.5 rebounds per game

The constant focus on Lebron has ignored the fact that basketball is a team sport. Look: can you argue that Jason Terry isn't as deserving of the MVP as Dirk is? Are you not amazed at the way JJ Barea can penetrate whatever defense he faces? What about Stevenson's clutch shooting? Stevenson's defense? Marion's defense? Chandler's dominance under both baskets? and and and and . . .

All the pain of losing a championship aside, I am in awe of the way the Mavericks played.

Dallas spent almost twice as much on salary as the Heat (gotta include the tax).. jeeze..

And they won. As of right now, that doesn't matter. This isn't baseball where you can have a low salary and win. Basketball demands at fair to high salary to win, because you have to have atleast one super star making that money. And most of that is taking on ridiculous salaries from players that don't get on the floor anymore just to make a trade. Nick Van Exel. Matt Carroll. Combined for over 23 million in Dallas' salary, without luxury tax. Yeah it's high, but it's the price for a ring, and Cuban has no problem with that.

I gotta be honest. I think that in the major three sports, Dallas has the three best owners as a whole. And the best coach, currently, in the NBA, and a top 3 Manager in baseball. It's a good time to be a Dallas sports fan.

Brian Cardinal has more rings than LeBron. Good to be an NBA fan this morning.

Dirk has so much swag it's sickening.

and finally, I told you guys about JET.

Did you guys hear Apple has a new LeBron iPhone coming out. It only vibrates. It has no ring.

hilariously, a local Miami paper wrongfully congratulates their Miami Heat basketball team as Champs:

looking on the bright side of Miami after this; I feel like Chris Bosh has gained some respect points with the hoops community and their fan-base. he definitely showed some heart during every single playoffs game. plus he lost with the most humble dignity that must be a foreign concept to both LBJ and even D-Wade

totally, ive gained respect for bosh on a basketball level and as a person. He is definetily the most likeable of the big three. he's honest with reporters and doesnt have the monumental ego of the other two. He just comes off as a guy who see himself as talented player whos working hard to one day win a championship, while the other two seem to see themselves as MJ/Christ of bball reincarnated

and on top of that he has improved his play a bunch. he went into the playoffs with everyone saying he was the weak link, but you could make the argument he was more valuable than lebron in the finals.

Fuck this shit, man. I am never getting emotionally invested in basketball again. 82 regular season games, plus playoffs, while I blow off the rest of my life to hope that history goes in my favor.

I'm sticking to football. Maximum of 14 Saturdays and 20 Sundays, so I don't have to blow off all of the most important shit in my life to watch a game that frustrates me to no end. In football, I feel calm and relaxed. Sure, I get butthurt, but the games are at least enjoyable. In basketball, even a win feels like I went through 2 hours of torture for a momentary sense of joy. It's like crack in reverse.

As you can see, none of my jobs have worked out well for me today, so I'm still without my heroin. Motherfuckers. Something is always available til you really need it. The moment I'm ready to do that dumb shit that is always knocking at my door, motherfuckers stop knocking.

The universe is conspiring against me.

^ Sup wit dat avy? :D

hahaha jk man it's cool you don't have to do it. If it was my team vs yours then yeah... I'm just happy Dirk won, not gonna be a dick about it.

damn 3, 4 I hate to imagine you as a Cleveland fan, then. sure I really only support the city thru basketball, but that has been more than enough of a mind-fuck along with the one-two punch of Jordan's shot and the whole LBJ debacle

A deal is a deal. I'm going to do it as soon as I raise enough money to get high. Thanks for the out though (I would give the same to you) but I don't want to be that guy who doesn't come through on his bets.

Things just aren't working out for me money-wise today (I imagine nobody wants to work) and I'm too depressed to go through the process.

Thanks for the kind words, Axl. This is the only sports forum I'm still posting at. Everywhere else is filled with assholes.

I know how it is with Cleveland, but Miami is a city that is used to winning, and we haven't been winners at anything in a while. The Canes and Dolphins suck. The Heat brought the entire hate of a nation down upon us, and we stuck through them, saying, "well, fuck you, at least we are winners" but now we aren't, and we have no great prospects for the immediate future.

After LBJ, anything can happen in the NBA. The next title really hinges on where Howard goes (it won't be The Lakers), and I'm kind of hoping for a longshot in Miami at the expense of Bosh (much as I love the guy). Riley is still the Architect, after all.

What disappointed me the most is that this is the first time I have seen Wade play like a bitch. He really did cost us two games in this series with his missed freethrows in game 4 and his lack of effort in game six. LeBron and Wade bear the responsibility for game 2, going all 3 crazy like that, and LeBron does have some blame in game 5. I just hate to see all the blame and scrutiny go to him, where others deserve it more.

^^^ they would have a better shot getting howard by offering lebron, and honestly a wade-bosh-howard combo I think would work better but thats just me. bosh would be able to play at the elbow because there would be a beast in the middle, wade wouldnt have to share the ball with LBJ anymore. dunno just seams like it would gel nicely.. but hey you guys cant have him, LA calls dibs. lol or fuck if you bastards steal howard we get cp3

as far as the wade thing... he played phenominal for the series you cant dock him for overall performance, two things I will say though. he slipped up in game 6, especially the fourth quarter. also that hip contusion thing in game 5 was pussy shit, he shouldnt have left the game or at least got right back in after they okayed him instead of missing huge chunks of the game. kobe played with a damaged knee all last finals, wade should have sucked it up.

I would stick with LeBron over anybody on the Heat. He is real young, and still a little bit immature. But he gets better and better every year.

Remember how Denver knew they were losing Melo, and he wouldn't sign off to go anywhere but NY? Players have a better shot of winning these disputes. I really think he ends up in Chicago, but I would give Miami a punchers chance.

LA really fucked themselves with the Mike Brown hire. I'm not saying they are out of it, but they had a %100 percent chance of getting him before they made a dumb move like that. It is anybodies game now.

Wade is a master at getting in people's ears. I hope Riley has him on Howard as we speak, just in case. All of this would have to be hush-hush, because it could really fuck up team chemistry, but Wade is a secret weapon in free-agency.

My hope for Howard, if he doesn't come to Miami, is that he goes to NY. That will waste his career. That team poses no threat to anybody serious.

I dunno, as much as I don't like the Knicks I think that if the get Howard they will make some noise in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. that possible trio is just too good for that not to happen

nice to see some fresh faces in here. ya'll are allowed to type more than one sentence... not one of us smells around here... well except for Max Power...

I've noticed a lot more interest in the NBA, pop culturally speaking. it's nice to see, specially because I can tell most of us have been vindicated NBA fans for a very long time (thanks MJ and Wilt and Detroit). I think this sudden surge in hoops popularity has to be credited to LBJ, of all people

he brought people together when he was the face of the league, and he brought even more people together in hatred as the heel of the league

lolwut? If anything we'll be a much better team now. What is wrong with Mike Brown, exactly? Dude just had a bad rep because of LeBron and his immaturity and unwillingness to play without the ball. His offense predicated around him because they didn't have much to work with. A bunch of glorified 2nd rounders.

I don't get the hate on Brown. He's a goofy guy but he is an EXCELLENT defensive coach, I think he proved that with the Spurs in 03 and what he has done with Cleveland. LeBron's biggest liability was his defense and now it's one of his biggest strengths, thanks to MB. He made the Cavs a top defensive team despite having weak individual defenders (LeBron, side show Bob and maybe Parker were good defenders, that's it). At least now we'll actually have legit defensive schemes and everyone will be held accountable on D.

Plus we hired Messina for the offense.

I promise you this will be a much better team. I'm glad Phil is gone. I appreciate what he has done but the dude stopped coaching in 2004 and it's pretty obvious if you actually follow the Lakers.
