If you want to be considered clutch you better put a ring on it.

Or in Jordan's case, six

Serious, I respect the fact that you didn't get shitty with me. :)

I was half expecting to get home from work and find that you had a 1,000 word diatribe belittling me for my opinion. +1 to you sir.

Now... when I say clutch, I'm throwing all the stones in the bucket. I'm not just saying he was clutch, this series, not clutch that series. I'm saying he's NOT clutch because he was monumental in the Heats inability to bring home the title. This season was, by all accounts and their own accord, championship or bust. Clutch is coming up big when it counts, not clutch is not coming up big when it counts. The series' prior to the finals were nothing more than 3rd quarters of the playoffs, in my opinion. The Finals were the proverbial 4th quarter and LBJ disappeared (literally and figuratively). If he could have done in the Finals what he did in the ECQF and the ECF... we wouldn't even be having this argument because I'd have to agree that Lebron finally got that clutch touch, but he didn't.

I'm CERTAINLY not arguing how incredibly skilled he is as a basketball player, that's undeniable, but when it comes to the ultimate pressure situation, Lebron loses his mental toughness. He won't drive the basket, he makes stupid decisions, and he completely abandons everything that makes Lebron James Lebron James. He is NOT clutch (yet).

serious your tripping, sorry man. Im with undead. what was it, like 11 points in 6 fourth quarters? end of story right there, plus his 17ppg. lebron had a bad series for a star player, and a down right horrible series for a man that wears 23 and proclaims himself king

its not nitpicking when it happens 6 games in a row, and when it happened in the boston series as well. Lebron did very well against the bulls and boston, props but that is not what makes a legend.

bottom line is the dude has 2 games under his belt for the nba finals in his entire career, and wade handed them to him.

I really thought all the lebron riders would finally realise how hard it is to win just one single ring in this league, let alone 5, or 3 in a row.

and il give you that wade had a better season this year than kobe, but saying hes been better for the past few years is down right criminal man... really.. better even when kobe won 2 finals in a row with no big man, averageing 30 5 5 in the playoffs

the kobe shit is all beside the point tho. the point really is lebron has a problem when it comes to winning rings and its not opinion, its not that he can blame it on anyone, its a fact, he just hasnt delivered.

he needs to work through the mental aspect of basketball most importantly, but also he really needs a post game, i mean he couldnt even post up jkidd or Baraea.

Cant find the article, but somewhere on truehoop they talk about LBJ playing more minutes (avging 43-44 pg) than MJ in his "he's too selfish to win it all" prime, bringing up the possibility (hollinger brought up the same one) that LBJ was simply wearing down, spoelstra playing him too much.

tbh most of you guys don't understand a lick of basketball and openly swallow what the media spoonfeeds you. for shame. it's more complicated than that. exhibit a:

So basically if you don't have a ring, you aren't that great. Right. And don't try to tell me otherwise. That's exactly what everybody is saying.

People just love to hate. Period. The fact that they found a way to hate on his statements the day after just demonstrate that even more. He didn't say anything bad at all and people blew it up into him saying he was better than everybody else. Which wasn't his point at all.

I don't even like the guy but he's been turned into a villain by the same people who made him a legend. Go think for yourselves for once.

Oh and Kam's article basically hits the nail as hard as it can be hit.

kams article pulls the "people hate him because he's black" card. nuff said

if you believe that that i really dont know what to say

There's about 8 other valid paragraphs in that article. Ignore that one if you want - it doesn't invalidate the rest of the really good points made.

lebron james is way more magic johnson than michael jordan anyway.

it just shows you how easy people are to manipulate: say something enough times from an "authority" (wherever u get your sports news from) and it becomes fact, further perpetuated by the fact that no one wants / has the confidence to be that black sheep to stand up and say, "wait a minute..."

You're totally right, Kam. You're the black sheep. What, with all your "points" and stuff. I mean... you're really droppin' knowledge up in this mother fucker, bro.

Again... what's REALLY missing from Lebron's game? Ability to LEAD a team (much like Michael Jordan) and ability to be CLUTCH (much like Michael Jordan). Yes, Lebron is an incredible athlete, not one person has denied that, but he definitely can't LEAD a team. He might be a hell of a cheerleader/basketball player, but he's a weak fucking leader and is the anti-clutch, which is DIRECTLY related to the number of rings he wears on his fingers.

Also, not everyone is comparing Lebron's playing style to Michael Jordan... they're comparing the PRECEDENCES set by each. Something that you may have noticed if you had the ability to read between the lines like you'd LOVE for us to believe you do so well. You're great at understanding intangibles right? Then figure that one out rather than taking everything at face value.

None of us understand basketball, huh? Then why is it we're arguing about basketball in the basketball thread while you're arguing semantics?

Don't forget his inability to score points past 3/4time when his team needed him. No one here is arguing that Le Bron isn't a great player. He has been a proven performer since he left high school. But to be placed on the same pedestal as Jordan, Kobe or Magic common basketball fans demand more than a flashy nick name or pre game ritual. They demand effort, leadership and most of all results. Until such time he will be an easy but deserving target.

Then there is his lack of class. Plenty of well loved players have left teams for more money or to search for a championship ring. The difference is most of them don't go on television in such a crude and tactless way. 10-15minute press conference with a thanks for the memories is how Kobe would do it I'm sure. Who ever is Le Bron's manager or PR isn't earning their percentage cut.

Mavs parade was fucking sick. I mean literally sick. Everyone had a 100 degree fever and was vomiting. Probably because of the heat and booze, but still awesome. Dirk is now a god in Dallas folklore. Ryan, Staubach, Aikman, Landry, Emmit. Dirk. Eh, let's throw Modano in too just 'cause. That Mark Cuban can throw a fucking party.

umad?

Don't forget his inability to score points past 3/4time when his team needed him.

the facts disagree with you. read truehoop once in a while.

Jordan, Kobe or Magic

his first 8 years are as good or better than anyone who's ever played this game. another fact. and no, kobe's not in the same stratosphere. (funny how people forget how t-mac's prime > kobe.)

Then there is his lack of class.

raising millions for boys and girls club, sacrificing money to sign with friends, and being the ultimate team-player (remember the pass to donyell marshall?)

The difference is

they weren't in a 24-hour news cycle. we built him up and now we are tearing him down. it's the same old story. be your own investigative reporter cuz right now all i hear is baaa, baaa

tbh anyone who isn't up to par on the wages of wins has no idea what they're talking about when it comes to evaluating individual players and teams.

Great retort. Spoken like a man who REALLY has it all figured out.

It's crazy how you're able to SEEM like you know so much, while spouting off so little that actually verifies it. I'm not sure I even know why anyone still responds to you. We all know you're an idiot/troll, but yet... you get us every time. If you spent as much time watching basketball as you did trolling... you'd probably actually be a worthwhile read.

I hate the media. Even on this forum the conversation is still about Lebron. Everything is always about Lebron. Gay.

Well, my mom just went to rehab for the 4th time and left me with a shitload of oxy. So, as I said, once I get high I'll change my avatar, Serious.

Probably going to spend another $100 on heroin sometime this week. I was just getting over the need to do drugs after my Heat lost, and then this shit came up. But at least I'm going to be high for a week because of it!

I'm changing my avatar back on the 17th of next month. Perfect date, the premier of Breaking Bad. I have to find some awesome Jesse avatar to put in there by then, I cannot abide wearing the shame of this avatar for too long.
