also...its not anime, but a japenese film that i HIGHLY RECOMMEND, its called "battle royale". you would definately like this. its one FUCKED up movie....20 girls and guys are sent by the government to an island where they are forced to kill each other. whoever is the last one standing is free.

Do you guys like Anime?

I've always liked ghost in the shell and akira but I never really got into anime. I think a lot of it sucks. But recently I got a Lain video and some other stuff thats cool.
What do you guys like?

I like most of it and don't get to see enough of it. Neon Genesis Evangelion sticks out in my mind though.

I got addicted to this stuff and bought a bunch of videos at hastings since I get a discount from working there.

I didn't really like Akira or Ghost in the Shell, too boring.

I watch McAnime like the ever overrated DBZ. As far as shit you can see on American TV; Cowboy BeBop is ok and I like Inyuasha. Sailor Moon is ok if you watch the non sterile Japanesse versions.

I liked Fruit Baskets because it was so weird.

..but if you want some serious anime, I reccomend Berzerk. Absolutley beautifully drawn and antimated, plus it's really fucking graphic.

I'm a fan of anime, but not most of the stuff you see on TV.

Lain, Miyazaki's Films (Spirited away, Totoro, Princess mononoke), Evangelion, and Love Hina are some of my favorites. I too disliked Ghost in the Shell and Akira could never get into got bored fast :\

I never really got all the excitement about Ghost in the Shell either, the first movie was way better as the second though, Innocence really sucked.. I see a lot of people on here say they don't like Akira and I really don't get that. IMO it's epic..

Anyways, if you like Hellsing, I bet you'd like Vampire Hunter D as well.. You might not like the first movie very much, but I think you certainly will enjoy Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

I just wanted to bump this thread, cause I've rediscovered sailor moon hehe <3

Im totally in love with this show again, it brings back old childhood memories!!

cowboy bebop. i like it a lot.

alasdair

I have every cowboy bebop episode, seen them all at least 3 times, probably more, also seen the movie twice. I am a HUGE cowboy bebop fan. Subtitled japanese>american VO btw.

I'm a fan of Akira, the movie, although the manga is better... FLCL is really interesting also. Bebop is definately my favorite though, probably my favorite tv show of all time, cartoon or otherwise. The original dragonball was great, didn't like z or gt as much at all.

Not at all. I tried to get into that a long time ago and I thought it was just stupid. I felt like I was supposed to like it, but it's a fuckin cartoon. Maybe back in 3rd grade it would have been "cool."

Well I like anime,, gotta say tough Berzerk was fucked UP!
Ok it was good but the ending, what the hell I got so pissed. but sure you can read the manga but im already up to my heels in geekyness so I will pass on that one

Started out with Trigun, a great comical anime with real style and some good emotional aspects as well...

Cowboy Bebop... What can I say, this anime rocked my world. I could really identify with the characters, it deals with a lot of real-life issues (drug dealing, bounty hunting, love) has fucking spectacular music... Only anime that made tears drip from my eyes like a waterfall, so beautiful, I can't say enough about bebop. Lets just say it has been my all time favorite anime that I have had the pleasure to watch. Go out and watch it, now!

Just watched the Ghost in the Shell movie last night, and it left me craving oh so much more. I am now looking for all episodes of Stand Alone Complex, the new revival of GITS. I really like the technology/futuristic feel of this, we are lookin at the future with this one....

Lain ~ A really dark and unique anime, takes a lot of thought and goes a bit slow but it is still enjoyable. Gets props for all the respect they pay to Apple computers and the real world history they use to back up the new technological developements in their world. Very confusing, but very cool. I'd say only real anime lovers would like this one.

Lupin the 3rd - Awesome stories, characters and comedy. This anime heavily influenced the whole cowboy bebop series as you can clearly see if you watch the introductions to both. The episodes are pretty good, but if you want the real moneymelon you have to look to the lupin movies. Great graphics, comical nudity, it's got it all. Not much replay value though.

Now my question, why do they come out with all these fuckign amazing anime stories and then abandon them as soon as they catch on! We need more cowboy bebop, but noooo, they go and create a shitty remake of it called "Wolfs Rain" that doesn't hold a fucking candle to it. I want more bebop! More ghost in the shell! More More More!!!! It's not like the market isn't there, there is more then enough people to buy and enjoy the product, not to mention all the cash they could get renting out the episodes to Adult Swim.

Check this out if your interested in a cowboy bebop revival, it's not much, but it's better then nothing!

^I wasnt a big fan of stand alone complex, bit gits:innocence I watched yesterday, it was fantastic.

Lupin the 3rd owns me, forgot about it.

It's not my thing, I pretty much hate it. But my best friend loves it. Not only the normal anime, but the porn too. It's very weird. What's the name for that again?
