the nfl 11-12 playoff picture prediction thread

i just glanced at the numbers for the patriots defense - they gave up only 10 points and 252 yards of total offense to the broncos (144 rushing, 108 passing). they also sacked tebow 5 times.

compare that to last week. the steelers, who have one of the better - if not the best - defenses in the game, gave up 29 points and 447 yards of total offense to the broncos (131 rushing, 316 passing). tebow was sacked 0 times.

maybe the patriots shitty defense is coming good right on time?

Nah, the steelers just shit the bed royally on the road against the Broncos. Tebowmania reached unprecedented levels at their expense. The broncos were never that good of a team on offense, and they showed it by laying eggs against mediocre defenses all year. Luckily for the Patriots D the two scary offenses that could really exploit their weak defense (Saints/Packers) are already eliminated, so its possible that the Patriots defensive unit finishes the year strong. They will probably look pretty good against the Ravens, the question is can Brady work his magic against the Ravens D. Should be interesting (im picking the Pats for the record).

also Denver called the offensive game of their life. you have to be with me here when I say NOBODY thought Denver would pass the ball as much and as long as they did against the Steelers. I give Denver props, I didn't know they had it in them

plus, Dick LeBeau didn't call a very good game (for once). the other Safety not named Polamalu (Ryan Clark) was out, and he is a big reason why Polamalu can do the things he does. plus, two Pro Bowl defensive linemen were injured during the first half of the Broncos game. plus LaMarr Woodley, another Pro Bowl linebacker, was re-injured in that Broncos game. hehehe, lots of excuses. but the Steelers just hobbled into the playoffs, both via Big Ben, but mostly thru their defense

that being said, I think I'm doing a pretty good job so far in the Playoffs. hope it continues

Baltimore rapes Tom Brady while Ray Rice has a huge game
Giants eek one out with Eli in San Fran, mostly due to experience

i like how the harbough's parents said they hope both don't make it to the SB because as a parent that's the worst imaginable thing to have to experiance, cause the pain felt for the loser would outweigh the shine of the victor

they've got a point

sounds more terrifying than having to visit your children in prison or attend a grandchild's funeral

sticking with the "picking the opponent" strat I see tommyboy? :P

^ Yup. I'm also stuck drinking Coors Light on game day since that's what we had since the playoffs started.

Last Sunday my group of 10 niner fans finished 2 30 packs of beer, a 40 of vodka and a 750 of tequila. Lots of beerpong, margaritas and shots of vodka to drown our sorrows.

Of the big 3 american beers coors light is actually my favorite by far.

I'll go with The Brady Bunch for now. If Gronk doesnt play i'll change it.

EDIT: Changing to the Giants. Gronk hasnt trained for 2 weeks. Not good.

choices is an odd way of putting it. they're in the game because they won the right to be there. if you don't like the 'choices', nobody's forcing you to participate...

once again, I like the nyg @ ne

schematically speaking, the Football Giants give the Patriots lots of troubles. Gronkowski is a great player, and a gem for the Pats. however, New England's biggest scoring threat is hurt with a high-ankle sprain that did in fellow tough-guy Ben Roethlesberger in for the season

the reason I am picking the Giants, besides their fearsome pass rush that has always gotten to Tom Brady, is because if the Gronk plays, he will be limited. instead of lining up their TEs in exotic formations, New England is most likely going to have to push Gronk more the line of scrimmage, to help with said NY pass rush. this is going to limit the usually superb and crisp routes that he would most normally run

that being said, I think both of these two teams have gotten here due to great coaching. I expect an entertaining Super Bowl

I actually dislike the giants more than the pats ( long story short I got in a "heated debate" with a few giants fans at a bar a while back). I think they are the better team though so im going with them
