The next big scene

Just based on the Salvia explosion I've seen with youth and even adults, I honestly think the world is needing LSD in a bad way. It's just hard to find, due to the stiff prison terms for making the stuff. However I totally see it coming. Politically, and economically we're under a stiff regime as far as culture.

Also notice new music, and our generation of musical influence is on the decline. We're rehashing crap, and nothing that good is coming out on the airwaves. LSD sparked imagination, and we could use that in our society. As well as the legalization of marijuana.

As generic said, probably pharms. Marijuana will obviously be much more prevalent but i doubt that it'll cause some sort of generational definition. Pot's been around since before lsd, during coke, consumed with opiates, and all the other "defining" drugs throughout history.

I hate to be the one to start naysaying, but I have a much different idea about the whole "what substance is gonna define us!??". I mean, the only reason those drugs were supposedly the "defining" parts of that particular generation is because law enforcement and old people who never did drugs tended to focus on those particular substances at that given time. In my opinion drugs will begin (as they already have) to have less of an impact of the definition of a group of people and, more broadly, a generation. Being as pharms (and powerful ones at that) have become a part of everyday of society for even those NOT on the fringes of society like many of us here, I see the feeling towards drugs in general becoming less and less about a scene and more just a part of everyones lives. Especially since you see so many assholes nowadays consuming psyche's in just as large a quantity as the supposed "hippy" kids. At least where I'm from.

In other words, I think they'll lose their cultish feel.

Like Shulgin said, by 2050 (I think), there will be an estimate of 2000 new synthetic compounds. So who knows what the next trend could be. The only thing i tend to worry about is the popularity of research chemicals.

If i had to choose what i think the next drug trend to hit America will be, and if it isn't already, i would choose pharmaceuticals. Benzodiazepines seem to be widely prescribed. My Mother has even admitted to "love xanax".

Since when is "pharmaceutical" a new type of drug... that is not an acceptable answer. Two different pharmaceuticals can be two completely different drugs on opposite ends of the effects spectrum :!

It's just being used as a general term. Most people don't take it TO literal and know it's being referred to as the abusable sort. ;|

all the scenes people are mentioning have been around for ages anyway. pills coke H weed acid etc. etc. they've all had several scenes in various decades!

sure hope it is LSD.. there was a small psychedelic rising in the UK before the mushroom ban, and there are certainly a LOT of kids who would love to take acid.. K has become a lot more popular, but so has getting generally fucked up on various different drugs (saw people at the weekend on molly, mazzies, acid, coke, booze, weed and K :| )

for trips to make a proper comeback the cooks need to work there asses off and the 'familys' need to do the same.. prehaps the recent research into psychedelics will spark certain scientists to devote their career to making and distributing the compunds, but its unlikely..

most likely RC's...and other psychedelics(LSD, shrooms,DMT and such...) and of course this is the age of ketamine...everyone loves it, uses it, abuses it, it's everywhere...
i don' think speed is gonna be that big considering that there are places in the world where medicinal speed (methyphenidate, dextroamphetamine) arn't even avalible, not even for ppl with ADD...and street speed is non-existant...only if you get it from outside or smth...
i think it depends on the region of the globe wehere you're at more than the music...unfortunatetly

Acid is getting big again! I sure hope its the next big thing...

I wish the rave scene would move from shitty shitty E to RC's , namely 2CB. Everyone would feel alot better the next morning.... hahah :P

I'm writing from a British (Scottish to be more accurate) perspective so it may be different to i'm guessing, the mostly US based talk here.

Tbh i think the 80s were all about money being the drug of choice with teh Gordon Gecko types becoming more prevelant.

As for now i think drugs in general are just gonna get more and more popular, the use of them has been increasing steadily for a while now, but as for a "scene" drug i dont think there will be anything like that here, most folks are too busy getting drunk on their own booze based hypocrisy to try something fun. No way will it be pharms, nobody knows what oxy/hydro are, crank is on the increase but not very popular compared to USA or South Africa, i'd love to try it though. I think there will be a whole load more junkies with Afghanistan spewing ever more heroin into the World but i seriously doubt it will become as popular as eccies were in the 90s, its still got a massive stigma to many users of weed, coke etc let alone the proles.

Could someone tell me what RCs are please?

RC stands for research chemical. This refers to drugs like 2c-i, 2c-b, 5-meo-dmt, etc. all those phenethylamines and trytamines that aren't widely used and researched. LSD, mushrooms, mescaline, MDMA and the like are not considered RCs.

From what i've seen i think we're going back to heroin and psychedelics in a big way. The kids using Rx'ed opiates at rediculous prices, the war.. for numerous reasons but number one being theese people need money to get thier weapons somewhere , and what makes more money in the middle east than heroin. Besides its win win for them, they get rich off america's drug problem , very smart imho.

And psychedelics seem to be every fucking where lately.

But i suppose no scene ever dies.... we just kindof push it under the rug until it rears up and causes problems for politicians.

^ Agree completely...its all cyclical, there isn't any new amazing drug to warrant an ENTIRELY new scene. but the current scene is definitely the heroin/downer-pot/psychedelic scene there was in the 60s and 70s. the "something/something/drop-out" scene

everyone's hates/fears the establishment and the future of technology and so hides in mystical faerie realms - go figure!

heaven

Anyone else heard of the "Heaven" mix atlien3 was talkin about? I gotta think there is gonna be a push on the these new X "blends" you could call it. Keep hearing more and more about combos that are throwin x more in the mix with ice and whatever else is available. SWIM will stick to my opiates.... but to each his own

definitley RC's. they are EVERYWHERE . DOB DOC DOI 2CB 2CI 2cb-fly

its becoming so common and easy to get.

also , a little concerning. starting to be pressed and laid on sheets

Yeah, I used to play both EQ and WoW and also have done a massive amount of meth over the past several years; but my MMORPG addiction and meth addiction rarely crossed paths. I played MMORPGs when I was clean and quit them when I would go back on meth. It would be a horrific combo though...I could easily see myself or any number of net-nerds using methamp. to binge on their game of choice for day after day of retina-burning fun. Those games are very competetive and whoever logs the most time played is normally the biggest badass in those net-social-circles... I seriously doubt that meth+MMORPGs will become any kind of fad though. Maintaining a meth habit normally requires sacrificing many of the prerequisites that are needed to maintain a MMORPG habit so I doubt many people would be able to maintain both for long. Then we'll just be left with a bunch a tweekers again....except there will be a larger nerd-tweeker demographic and (hopefully) a smaller redneck-tweeker demographic.

nerd tweekers are down right scary.
