The new skin has ruined Bluelight... (say some)

I hate it..

Before this skin i was on here almost everyday..

Now i log on maybe once a week..

Not sure what the traffic stats are, but I doubt you're alone. It seems a hell of a lot quieter here in EADD since the revamp. Not sure about the rest of BL. It fucks with my reply box too.
 
This happens every time anything is revamped... Gmail, facebook etc. The trick is to just keep using it and eventually you just forget how good it used to be.

Other than that i don't see what the fuss is about , i think its human nature to belive things were better , when in fact the difference is very nominal.
 
Beauty isn't only skin-deep as the saying goes. Still wouldn't fuck any ugly people though. ;)

I actually quite like the look of the place right now. Even using it (as I am now) in work through Internet Explorer(!) it's not half as difficult to navigate as I first found it. I suppose that answers part of your question, rickolasnice. Try logging in more.

Think about it though; we've been through major server upgrades / changes (that are beyond my understanding, so don't even think of asking) and there's all this business with updated software too. There are bound to be teething problems - remember that it took a lot longer than expected to come back online.

In addition to this, the technical team have been understaffed, which I believe has and is continuing to be addressed.

These people are volunteers too, remember - and many of them have other forum commitments as well as real-life jobs that are in all likelihood even more demanding than running BL.

So while I understand that people are a bit frustrated, please give it time, and most importantly give the engineers and admins a break, because they do lots of hard work which you never get to know about until the odd occasion something goes wrong.

So a big shout-out to the tech team, and if anybody's unsatisfied then I'm sorry, but to rejig an old saying, even Nazi Germany wasn't built in a day.

And please, stick around - this place is about the members after all. I didn't like the design of the new Mini at first... :)

So, so true on many levels. As we've seen in the past over things other than the new skin. ;)

I love the new skin, I love how the quick reply box comes up when you click quote now, and I also like how it saves your text incase you accidently deete it all.

Took me a while to get used to the new skin, but I reallly do like it now. :)
 
man, I must be a lot more cooked than I thought I was , I ain't got a clue what the oldB/L looked like.

It's not the skin that bothers me, it may as well be wrapped in a rizla skin for all I care. It's the reply box that pisses me off. Sometimes when I multi-quote, it repeats text for some random reason. Other times my cursor will will hop all over the bleedin shop as I type. Probably related to Explorer 9 (such a ludite I know) or something though. Although I have a fresh Windows 7 64 bit installed. So it's a clean system.

Anyway, it's more the increase in tumbleweed that blows around these parts that bothers me the most, which did coincide with the revamp. Wax and wane though I guess. Perhaps we need a few more arguments and contentious topics/members....
 
the traffic is lower because bluelight was down for about 10 days during that upgrade and thousands of people realised that there was more to life than bluelight and decided to focus more on the real life than their bluelight life. That is my theory anyway and I know I am not the onkly one whho believes so. Nothing to do with the skin.
 
I dont even really remember what it looked like before if I'm honest.

One thing ye need though and take note.. is threaded private messaging
 
Not really that bothered. I would agree though that the poor server performance and downtime leading up to the skin going live is probably to blame if there is a slump in traffic
