The new and improved Smackie thread; respectable junkies

You won't get addicted to either of those if you use them ONCE. But the thing is, if you enjoy it... really, really enjoy it. Do you think you'd be also to say "well, never gonna do that again. I've had my fun. Now I'll just settle down to the rest of my life".

Too right Halif, your sentence can be applied to other drugs too, once you experience a drug which really "gets you" and alters your mind/body on a special level, it's likely you'll do it again. Then it's your decision whether to use the drug again, in your mind you weigh the negative consequences against the positives. Very interesting

Your insights are truly incredible halif. The even handed way of writing is so engaging, and I for one can't help but associate my own experiences when reading your posts. I no longer do any drugs for fun, I am reliant on pain meds to get thru my days. It's an addiction to being free from pain, and the ability to focus on other things in life. There is no doubt some of my meds would offer an incredible euphoria if used in excess, but after addictions in my teenage years and early twenties, I am not prepared to go there again. I left myself short once before my next script was due and was in agony for days. Why am I writing this? I honestly don't know, and should probably apologise, but I guess I wanted to say thank you for being so open and allowing others to do the same (even in such a boring fashion like me).
Add depression into the mix of your last sentence, and you have an even harder time saying no to a second time with anything that gets you.

that is a very good point halif. Made sense. Guess i won't try it because i know ill like it

Bit of a tangent here, but: How much better off would society be if nature wasn't prohibited? I mean, if people were allowed to cultivate any plant or fungus for their own use, and didn't feel so tempted to chase over-powered, refined hard drugs. Chewing coca leaf instead of cocaine. Home grown cannabis instead of those bloody synthetics or genetically engineered super hydro strains. Opium instead of heroin. Cacti and/or shrooms instead of NBOMes.

I really hope we head that way again. In the mean time plants are still growing, they don't know that they're prohibited.
As much as I believe that opium is addictive, how much could one person really grow in a year. Self supply surely limits ones intake?

Bit late to notice this, but thank you, Raymond. Those are some of the kindest words I've had directed my way on a forum - or anywhere for that matter.

Here's an emoticon to demonstrate my feeling about this: %)

Those Afghan farmers sure can feed a few with theirs.

I remember seeing part of a documentary in which the maker got a very, very rare opportunity to visit an opium 'farm' and speak to the Afghanis running it. The boss of the place said: "When people come here for the first time, they work hard and think of payment. Sooner or later they lick the blade <rather the edge of the little cutting implement they use>. Then again the next day. Then next season I see the same people, begging me to be able to work on the farm for free". *

The presenter of the doco was offered a cup with some poppy tea in it. He tasted it and immediately gagged and said it was the most unbelievably bitter thing he'd ever tasted and gave the cup back. I think I shouted at the TV before I could stop myself - "NOOoooo!!! Give it here, you idiot!"

*I used quotation marks, but to be honest I don't remember the exact words, just the gist of it. It really stuck in my mind. The look of knowing on the bosses face as he surveyed his happy slaves was creepy....

I wouldn't be any different. In fact, I know/have known a lot of people who would happily work for their dose (heroin primarily).

If you haven't already I recommend reading River of Smoke and Sea of Poppies by Amitav Ghosh. Tales of the opium factories in India prior to and during the opium wars. Its fiction though.

Am going to go searching for the doco you are talking about. It sounds pretty cool.

Finally gave in to curiosity and had a shot of endone today. Stupid and dangerous, I know, I know. My arm is fine.

Got a lovely, powerful high, but absolutely no rush, just as many have said. Not even an especially fast come on.

Anyone know the reason for this? Why doesn't IV oxy give a rush like H or morphine?

Again, curiosity.

Because diacetylmorphine (heroin) is a perfect IV drug, oxycodone is an (almost) perfect oral drug. It's that simple, I shoot oxy because it gets me better straight away. I usually do 160mgs, 2 80's, but there is no real rush. It's just sick -> better with a small kind of thank you feeling from my body. Heroin gives me a rush, I need more than most people but I still feel that feeling that makes me love it. I can also function as a human being on either heroin or oxy or morphine, but not methadone. That's why I am addicted to illegally obtained opiods.

^Ties in with the 'how much money would it take for you to quit drugs' thread.

There's a guy who I'm fairly certain who have had plenty of coin. And respect, and status. Like Heath Ledger.

Drug addiction goes way beyond money or fame.

so recently i got a bit of gear and its mixing up yellow and its awesomely strong.

Its a light yellow, very transparent etc. I have a feel its badly made #3 but considering that i'm using water only it seems to be quite effective. What's ones experience with yellow gear and how do you think it compares?

Quick question. Was able to get some white heroin around Sydney. It seemed to dissolve no problems. Is all heroin like this or do some not dissolve as easily? Also, should I be using a filter(cotton bud) to filter every time even if it fully dissolves?

It should dissolve easily, if it doesn't then you're getting shit.

Yes you should filter it every time, even if it fully dissolves.

In Europe our heroin is a brown powder, to which you need to add citric acid and then heat it up in your spoon for it to disolve. I always use quarter of a cigarette filter as the filter. They also sell good fits where you can take the needle off, so it's easy to filter it through the cigarette filter and then pop the needle back on.

The H I got completely dissolved except for the odd grain that was floating around. How many units of water should I be using to mix up a point? I used 40 the other night. I also use the same for meth. I assume as long as it completely mixes up and isn't sludgy the amount of water used dosent matter but I thought I would ask anyway.
