I hope it wasn't just my personal experience that turned you off methadone. Like I said in my post, it does work great for some people. In the circumstances that I was facing, with my personal situation, I needed a substitute. I would have much rather detoxed, but I'm a real pussy when it comes to withdrawal. I've done it before, numerous times like everyone else. Even with self administered naltrexone, yes I'm an idiot. But everyone is different, has different circumstances and has different people who rely on them. I tried bupe, it didn't really work, so the only other option I had was methadone. And it works, but it's not a very good life. For me.
Thanks for the kind words though, I appreciate the gratitude but I hope that I haven't inadvertently turned you down the road more or less travelled for the wrong reasons, it may work well for you, it may not. It is your decision ultimately, as it was mine. Still, I would take methadone over the alternative that my head was thinking at the time. It saved my life so I can't be too hard on it.
