the magic of opiates

The only time I'd really consider using opiates these days is (A) during a really nasty stim comedown... anything that makes me feel better is welcome, and (B) only if I had no kratom around, which is plenty good enough to do the trick. Otherwise I'm just not attracted anymore.

Nah. I toughed this 3 day out with nothing except bluelight to keep my mind occupied. Sorry all for being a pain in the ass!

Sorry man, but ask yourself this question, and if you come out with anything but the grave truth...you need more help than I can give bitching.

* Has recreational opiate use every had a good outcome in the long run? *

Later.

Like anything recreational, no, no good outcome in the long run came from doing opiates for me. Neither has spending time with cute girls, climbing some of the most beautiful and treacherous mountains on both coasts, or reading philosophical material that has served as the foundation for many schools of thought.

I've never had any negative effects from doing heroin, but I understand that this is because of how responsible I am in comparison to other users, that I only use and only get high on heroin by myself, and that I've just been lucky.

Positive statement. I'd hate to be you if I 'reading philosophical literature', 'spending time with cute girls', as well as even climbing mount everest didn't spark the least bit feel of JOY or SATISFACTION.

Which, sure. You get that with an opiate. Joy you just used and are cool for another six hours. Fuck. That. You're comparing destructive behaviors with completely opposite and enriching behaviors.

You're still in denial you drug addict!

Ive been trying to stay away from the heavy duty opiates and hard drugs, so far doing a good job. the magic goes away fast for me when im bootin h and sniffin oxys. im on suboxone maintanance now and i wouldnt say its magical, but its a lot better thatn being broke and strung out. im also messing with muscle relaxants (soma) and weak barbiturates(butalbital). I even use benadryl now instead of benzos 'cause i end up eating them like candy. imo, the magic of opiates and other hard addictive drugs is long dead. the drugs i use now are just to get by. hopefully i wont end back on heroin, but from past experience, i always eventually do. thats the definition of insanity: do something over and over again that never works. so no, there is no magic for me anymore. just the occasional "high," and the rest is hell.

^ Keep it up and stay away from that fucking h. Lame shit.

Good work man ;). There shouldn't be any fucking magic. Life is not magical. It's baseline. It's boring. Sure, you have your 'highs'...but come on.

I'm glad you've decided to join the real world!

They do, that was the point of my post. Recreational activities don't really do much to create 'positive long term outcomes' for you. Nonrecreational activities, ie academics, business, and family, are what usually create 'positive long term outcomes'.

Personally I think if you were given a choice of doing drugs or having never gone down that path, the smart choice would be to deny drugs and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. The only difference between legal and illegal activities is that only one of them can ruin your life because of legal repercussions. Everyone would be better off not doing drugs, but whatever, shit doesn't always happen in a theoretical context (or perhaps more accurately, a rational one).

i duno about that. I cant ever feel how i did the first couple times...EVER no matter how much i take. It has lost its magic to me to a certain extent. But not like ecstasy has.

Oh, yeah. E is the originally coined..."Lost it's magic".

To be honest with you, even though I used to do MDMA a couple years ago...I still don't see what the fuss is about.

It's such an overly dramatic drug. Like, it has no function in the real world. The comedown/crackout for two weeks isn't particularly pushing towards productive, either.

opiates get better the more I do them.

For me in the beginning yes. Then tolerance builds. Then you try harder drugs and start IVing because what once worked no longer does, and then the drugs that once made you feel so good and happy turn against you. Then comes detox and rehab, if you're not dead.

My opiate addiction has led to lifelong dependency on opiates (on suboxone maintanance now and probably forever) and I am always at risk for relapse and death from ODing.

iameatingjam, enjoy it while it lasts, because one day, if you keep abusing opiates, you will know the meaning of hell

TDogUSA,

It's when I read posts like that-- that make me happy I'm not blissfully ignorant like many who deny drug abuse has any faults. (The raver kiddies are the fucking worst)... I'm not saying it's ..good to see someone with a clear head on their shoulders but is addicted...but it's good to hear from someone with evident experience who isn't ignorant.

You're rare.
^^

It's seems every one is torn about whether or not opiates lose their magic, except center. Damn, I wish I had the answer to everything like you center, how do you do it?

I just wanted to add, that personally I think it is possible to keep the magic with opiates, albeit, not for everyday users. I love them, but the more frequently I use, the quicker they seem less interesting. I take an extended vacation from my Lady M. and I when I see her again I fall fast in love, head-over-heels. But everybody has their own drug preference; opiates are mine. My girlfriend loves E, for example, it is nostalgic for her and she loves to drop. And b/c she only gets to do this maybe four times out of the year, E keeps its novelty.

Oh yeah, MeDieViL, I hope I answered your question as I can't send IM's as a greenlighter.

thanks center. i actually had 15 months sober recently (on suboxone maintanance) and was doing very well. but then some things in my life changed, and i hate change, then the temptation got the best of me AGAIN. im currently using drugs with low addiction potential, not that it matters though, a drug is a drug, and weaker drugs almost always lead to harder drugs IME. im scared to death to go back to IV heroin abuse, but being scared has never stopped me before. right now though i have no urge or want to go back to heroin, but since i am using i am at great risk for that. i do have much support though, from my family and doctors.
And when it comes to the kids who think they are invincible, if only they knew. i wish i had known then what i know now. maybe my life would be different.

eh, They definatly don't lose there magic in the same way MDMA does, I think thats pretty clear.

You take E everyday, its gunna stop fuckin working. period.

You take opiates everyday you can still achieve the same high....it just becomes redicolously expensive followed by a hellish sickness.

So id say no they don't lose there magic, but certainly the cost (both monetary and physical) of achieving the "magic" will soon begin to outweigh the benefits, heavily.

Stay on top of it TDog, it seems like you're headstrong and know your goals, and family and community support I think have been big factors in staving me away from addiction.

Just when I think I know everything about drug use, someone else comes along and blows my experiences out of the water. I really appreciate more experienced BL's offering their advice as this has literally save my life on at least 2 occasions. I'm definitely not "drug-ignorant," but there is always someone who knows just a little (or a lot) more.

Well, thanks for calling me ignorant!

warm'n'cozy-- Everything can be enjoyed with moderation. Does this mean there are no risks? Fuck no. There's always risks.

My "ignorance" as you see it, or rather my dislike for the ignorance of some as I see it isn't a blind and bigoted opinion I've formed.

I am opinionated. It doesn't mean I'm wrong. I'd never flat out tell someone they are fucking stupid etc for doing a drug, no. If they are using irresponsibly, sure I'd tell them. I wish people would tell me. Actually, I already know...so nix that.

It proves I too am not IGNORANT in my use, but I'll admit STUPID. Yes, I am stupid about the way I use.

The difference between a stupid and an ignorant being is education. The ignorant person knows know better- they haven't been presented with facts.
The stupid person understands the facts, yet acts in spite.

Ever heard "ignorance is bliss"?

I'm much happier to be stupid than ignorant with drug use. It's amazing the ignorance on some other related subforums. Again, it's not their fault. It's not the fault of their ignorant "superiors" if you will, either.

I dunno, I quit using H for 2 weeks in June and expected it to be just like in the beggining and when I used again it was a LOT better than when I was using everydaY but it deffinitly wasn't like the beggining. I think if you get to the point that you need it to feel normal and use everyday for like 6-12 months it might not ever feel like the first few weeks-months, I think your receptors just get abused so much their sorta used to it. Its not as bad as if you use X every week for months on end and you don't feel it at all ever again, but it never feels like the first couple times IVing again, maybe I need to quit for several months to get my receptors back to baseline, but I fear even that won't make it like the first several weeks were, being able to be fucked for 8-12 hours straight off of 1-2 bags and not being able to eat the whole timr without puking. I mean my tolerence goes down and I'm able to get way higher than during constant abuse but I only get high for 3-4 hours instead of 12 hours straight like in the begining.

^ I hope...well..

Ahm..at least you know being high for 12 hours a day isn't cool. Maybe it's better off, you know? It comes down to either being sort of high all day, or really high for 1/3 of the day.

I'd look forward to that 1/3. Figure something else to do.
