Gabapentinoids The Lyrica (Pregabalin) Mega Thread v 2.0

I have gone to Clemson for five years (yeah super senior I know), and have extensive experience with lyrica.

At first I could take 100mg and colors would pop and mesh so nicely and I just floated through the world. But as everyone here has noted, tolerance came on quickly and the effects are quite variable from person to person. I have, on several occasions, taken doses I wouldn't feel now and been scarily screwed up, twitching and all. But that doesn't happen anymore, and I can take 3g of it and feel less good than if I take 500mg. I don't know why this is.

I also have not ever had any significant withdrawal effects to mention, but I have only been taking it a 3-5x a week and not everyday (for a year).

For anyone that does not have experience with lyrica please start LOW. You can always easily take more, and although I don't think you'd have any serious health problems you can become very uncomfortable and wished youd never taken it.

Be safe and have fun!

I havent taken any opiates but the Lyrica (2x75mg followed by another 2x75mg an hour later) 300mg in total has definately had some effect on the 20mg valium and the 4mg clonazepam that i took at around 8am...its now 3.30pm

The joint i smoked at around 8am worked well also.

I've been on this medication for about 6 months now....Have any of you quit and not gotten any withdrawals? How many of you did get withdrawals? Were they bad?

yes holy fuck they are better than the opiate + soma combo imo....if i add in lyrica to my opiates my whole body gets numb as hell and it synergizes with the high so well...add in some weed = <3[/QUOTE

That sounds like where I want to be brother. I appreciate your help like crazy, this may just be the trick for me. Plus, who doesn't love smoking herb?

haha yup np! i can definitely tell the difference between opiates alone and opiates + lyrica....the latter is an awesome combo %) ...and it is safer than the conventional benzo + opiate combo...and marijuana is the only drug i use daily 8)

Dude I am still fucking stoned from smoking a shit ton of pineapple kush about 12 hours ago. I feel retarded, plus I took 1.05g pregabalin + 2.4g gabapentin. I'll probably dose a whole gram of Lyrica later on, maybe rail about 300mg. Smoke some more bud.

I was 6 days shy of being 5 months sober, the longest I'd ever been sober in my life. I freaked out and had to fucking smoke weed. I HAD to.

damn^^ i can barely take a week off from opiates, its been exactly 7 days from my last dose and while i had no w/d's im still mentally craving those motherfuckers hardcore..just gotta go do something but i aint got shit to do and i have very little weed left. its is either buy some roxi or buy some more weed... let alone i cant even go a day without smoking, but if i find a blue im going to buy it instead and wait out the 2days of sobriety before i get mypaycheck brutal hahaha

ok here it goes:

i was on lyrica for several months and it was WONDERFUL. anxiety, depression, apathy were gone. i was uber productive and just loving life.

then at the 3 month mark it stopped. i started getting irritable, my memory was going, and i was talking to myself a lot! i also put on an obscene amount of weight (20lbs in 2 months). so i stopped taking it. i could take massive amounts and drink and get a recreational effect and kinda feel the effects the next day.

here i am about 4 months after i stopped. i went back on because i have been using klonopin instead and tried using dexedrine to replicate the lyrica effect, yet to no avail. the klonopin does not do much and i think it actually makes me a little depressed.

so i CAN feel the lyrica again! NOW I AM GOING TO RESPECT IT. i will NOT take it everyday. it potentiates the klonopin a lot and helps me not take more than i should. i try to limit lyrica to the work days when i really need to get stuff done. if i get bored i use a large dose on the weekend.

thing is i know im going to start putting weight on again(i never lost the weight from the first time i took it). so it sucks that it makes me feel good but i cant take it everyday.

just taking klonopin makes me feel kinda depressed and i cant really focus and do lots of work like on lyrica....so its hard to not take lyrica everyday. shit......i need to find a way to not lose the effect of lyrica.

does anyone have a regimen that helps with this? like take it 3 times a week only?

Well, I think the only sure way to make sure there are no reduced effects is to limit use to once a week max. That would also avoid any problems with addiction and the many harmful effects of being dependent on the drug, never mind quitting. The problem is that those of us who really enjoy Lyrica or find it very helpful are going to want to use it as much as we can. You can limit your use to every two or three days and still feel it, but will still experience a gradual reduction in effects that requires you to either increase the dose or pause/reduce for some time, and you'll probably be physically and psychologically addicted.

I have stopped with Lyrica 4-5 times after extended use now. Two of those was CT, which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. The best is really to detox or maintain with Gabapentin when you want to quit. This works perfectly, and also allows you to lower your tolerance and lose some of that weight. I recently took a break for one and a half month and substitited with Gabapentin and lost around 15 lbs. It doesn't seem to increase your appetite/cause water retention like Lyrica does, which I believe are the main causes of the weight gain. At some point my thighs were so swollen with water I couldn't feel the muscles underneath, pretty disgusting. Gabapentin is also cheaper and easier to get, and not as hard on the body as consistent Lyrica use, as it's less effective.

I wish I didn't like this drug so much, at its best it rivals opiates for me, and I also enjoy the amphetamine-like effect that motivates you to engage in activity and enjoy it. Perfect for studying and writing. But people should really research this drug (and its withdrawals) some more before they let themselves get dependent on it. If you look around, there is a lot of scary stories and reports floating around out there. I know there's a thread somewhere about how it causes dental decay, with a whole bunch of people who ended up ruining their teeth the space of a year, and one who was very upset he needed dentals at age 47, and have also read reports of much more alarming damage.

Just keep in mind the drug is very new and still in its trial stage. People should be warned that they might be letting themselves in for more than they first imagine. It seems so benign at first, as the side effects are so mild, but that doesn't mean it's not doing serious damage to your body. I'm expecting it to receive a higher regulation, if not being taken off the market completely, but of course the producers are going to hold it off for as long as they can. In my mind, it's best used once a week or less, whether you are after the recreational or therapeutic effects, and more regular use should be avoided if it can be.

Beginners think Lyrica is so innocent and like a miracle-drug, but with time there will probably be more and more with experience saying things like these, and some time in the future it will probably be a household name after being abused by enough kids...

Me scared too.............8o

If I may, I think that is a healthy fear. If you try it, you WILL like it, and like any drug it is probably a boat you do not want to willingly hop on. I managed to escape Lyrica withdrawals every time, most probably because I can never make the capsules last any sort of extended period, but from what a lot of people say and I can wholeheartedly understand the truth behind it, pregabalin withdrawal can be worse than opiate withdrawal. In my book that is a version of hell I do not want to visit. The side effects seem to be on the more negative side of the scale than some other drugs, though naturally you don't get something for nothing.

If you are afraid of it, it's probably for a good reason. :)

It might be something to be afraid of...I mean, I love it; I've been hooked on Lyrica, Neurontin, or both for 7 years. I've been trying to lower my dose of each because I am prescribed 450mg Lyrica + 3,600mg Neurontin per day. I have been taking much less, then giving in lately for the most part. The pain is awful, I'm burning up, sweating my balls off at work. I haven't let it get to the panic attack point, b/c I have done this many times. I tried to get high on pregabalin, but after taking like 3+ grams I said fuck it. I don't know why I want to cut down. I think I might stay where I'm at with the Neurontin, and just dose Lyrica prn. We'll see.

But yeah, btw, this w/d is horrible. I haven't let it get that bad, but I have both gabapentin and pregabalin. I can say, though, from experience, both Neurontin and Lyrica have absolutely terrible w/ds. Up there with opiates/opioids, except the gaba analog w/d lasts longer.

They had me do a trial of gabapentin, and I thought to myself "Sure, the high's gotta be similar to Lyrica, right?" and I was convinced afterwards that it just wasn't possible for some reason even though Lyrica's just an analogue, then after reading some posts on Bluelight what should have been obvious to me became fact. I know it's a bit off-topic, it's just strange I couldn't get any effect from Neurontin, though as they are cross-tolerant it shouldn't come as much of a surprise, I was prescribed 600mg Lyrica per day and was, of course, taking more than that at the time they tried me on gabapentin.

Yes I have to agree, I absolutely love Lyrica myself. I'm glad I did some more research on it and found out that it binds itself to calcium channels (I think, something like that), it might help me cut down a bit on Lyrica since the last time I was on it, a couple years ago, I was one of those "new users" who thought it was "a miracle drug." Reading this thread brought to light the darker aspect of it. Like losing teeth.

I'm on this medication...I have a feeling I'll be on it for a while. I am worried about a possible withdrawal. Having experienced opiate withdrawals, I'm nervous that this will have some bad withdrawals.

Can someone who has taken this long term talk about withdrawal? How bad is it? Does the withdrawal even exist? I'm very curious...

If you're on it from a doctor they should be able to taper you down (well when you want to stop the medication its their job to taper you down)

Plugging is my preferred ROA.

Snorting pregabalin makes me feel like I've ingested some nasty deleriant or smoked a bunch of purely indica herb... it almost feels like an anvil has been placed on my once agile consciousness. It's a "gross" feeling.

Smoking it? Just... don't. Why someone would be so enamored with pregabalin's effects (as great as they are) to attempt smoking the contents of a Lyrica capsule is beyond me - although there WAS that one thread about the guy looking for the right dose of Benadryl to mainline, so I guess foolishness is more prevalent than I had originally thought.

I do really enjoy the effect of just eating the capsules, too. I get the 300's, and generally if I have been good and not taken too many over the past couple of weeks, one or two of those will produce a very pleasing tactile and mentally anxiolytic/motivating experience that is quite different from the effects produced by administering it rectally.

I don't IV drugs anymore, so I cannot comment on IV pregabalin; it sounds, however, like a god-awful idea.
And I've never heard anyone pose the question, "Can I IM Lyrica?" but I suppose that's more comforting than intriguing ;)

Been on this stuff for just shy of a year now and have fallen off the recreational pregablin wagon. I'm much more interested in the ways and practices which allow me to gain the most therapeutic effects from my Lyrica. I am grateful to have the prescription, but I use it sparingly (instead of multiple times per day, every day) and my memory's returning, I can shit again (constipation from this stuff is a MAJOR issue for me) and I don't feel so run-down or like I've induced SCT (Sluggish Cognitive Tempo) in myself. Good stuff :)

As homeydontplaythat said he's going to do, RESPECT the stuff, and it will in turn respect you. Abuse it, and the backlash is both disappointing and alarming/nasty.

does anyone get a fast heartbeat on lyrica, its not like a panicky one, but even at my small dose of 150mg twice a day for anxiety, it makes my heart race, does it go away once your body becomes used to it? Its kind of uncomfortable but ive seen it listed as a rare side effect.

Just got my refill, God I can't help it, I love Lyrica. :D But that couldn't have been said any better, drugs are to be RESPECTED for what they do, MISuse is different than ABuse, you can't abuse something you respect and vice-versa.

Yeah, I kinda get a fast heartbeat on this stuff too...it usually occurs around 2-3 hours after ingestion. It's kinda weird...similar to after smoking a little herb. I think it may have a slight effect on blood pressure.

Lyrica is really weird stuff. It's a sedative, yet sometimes it acts as a stimulant at times. It kinda feels a little dissociative. Kinda like a cross between having a beer or two and smoking a couple hits of herb. It's not a great euphoria like cocaine or opiates, but it is pleasant in a weird sort of way. I'm actually kinda high on it right now ;). I wouldn't call it a social drug, more of a chill type drug. Another weird thing is sometimes it feels a little different, depending on the day, even after taking the same dose.

I wouldn't really call this stuff recreational...it is what it is....

Question:

AFTER the Lyrica takes effect, taken orally of course (why anyone would take it other ways is beyond me, the possible exception being plugging), how long does it last? I'm trying to space it out and take less per dose, but how long after it takes effect does it last?

In other words, how long should I wait in between doses? Mind you I have an extremely high metabolism. My beginning dose is around 1.2g, five 225mg capsules, increased by one capsule in between doses. Just took six being my second dose as this stuff has tolerance issues. Took them at 4:00PM.
