Gabapentinoids The Lyrica (Pregabalin) Mega Thread v 2.0

Lyrica is indeed the strange substance. It does affect everyone differently. I find that any dosage over 400 mg goes to waste, except that it makes me sleep like a log. It does have that sort of drunk feeling, but with a dose of hyperactivity at the same time. It is a pleasant feeling, for sure, but perhaps not 'euphoria'. When I first start up Lyrica, after a while, it gives me the nods, like a 10-minute power nap, then I am good. Sleepiness is a tough thing to fight off on Lyrica, even with 3 cups of coffee! As most people say, tolerance builds extremely fast. I love to read books; while on Lyrica, that can't happen cause the concentration goes way down; I zone out on TV shows. But wow, sleep is good with interesting dreams. OH - of course, it works pretty well on nerve pain/neuropathy!

150mg of lyrica? You might as well drink a cup of coffee and have a cookie.

I would say 300mg would be a good starting dose for someone not tolerant to GABAergics. Also, this isn't an anti-depressant, you don't need to wait a long period of time to feel its effects. We're talking about recreational drugs, lyrica takes a long time to kick in and that is 1-1.5hours oral. I have a mild GABA tolerance and find 900-1200mg a good dose but have taken 2400mg before and had fun so I wouldn't say you are at risk of ODing and having a bad time. In any case you sound like you would really benefit from some drug/lyrica education so read the lyrica/pregabalin megathread and whatever you can on here. The only real negative side effect I have experienced when you are at the 1000mg plus range is joint pain.

I would think 450 would be recreational for someone like you with 300 being conservative but hey if 300 or 225 (I gather you have 75mg tabs) even works for you then great. The problem with starting low is that the half life is 5-6 hours and it takes a while to kick in so by the time you wait and don't feel much then wait for it to kick in your system has eliminated a decent amount, so start somewhere reasonable. Definitely don't start below 200 and feel free to go up to 600.
This is the megathread so what are you on about? You tell someone to read where you are already posting? Wow

If you’d read more throughly, you’d notice those posts were from their own thread which was later merged into the megathread by a mod 👍🏼
Yeah I noticed that later. I was wrong about it. I missed they were merged before I started looking for Lyrica information because I was just put on it

i was prescribed the max dose of lyrica by my GP which i think was 300 mg daily at that time and i honestly felt nothing off of it, i remember the first time i ever took it i did notice a sort of drunk-like feeling but not really in a nice way. some people i know swear by it while others like me got nothing out of it.
i wish there was a doctor out there that still prescribed Soma i'd love to give that a try.

IIRC max dose your can absorb is 900mg, after which it's passed out via urine, YMMV

not even sure if the max prescribed dose is 300mg

you could be right it was the first time i ever tried it, i just know my GP was like, yeah the max dose is 300mg so that's as high as ill go with it when i told her it's still not working sadly. :P

I've been taking pregab recreationally weekly for ~10 months, and finally just started to notice a tolerance build up. After experimenting with complete GABA tolerance breaks I'm happy to report being near back to baseline with prega after 1.5 months  , I had a 1 month break, then required 600mg to get high on pregab, then another 2 week break and 300mg is enough to get me back to baseline (woohoo, very happy!). I'm going to take this as a warning to not exceed once per fortnight dosing, but given how much I love this drug I'm willing to extend to monthly to protect the high.

For background and experience info - I'm 300lbs+, I usually take 300mg orally very early in the morning so I can enjoy the full duration of the pregab (it's a dose I can take without people noticing I'm on it!), though I experimented with 600mg and 900mg a few times (which are both very fun). Insufflation is a much more intense experience than oral, but I will at time mix both ROAs to tweak the experience I want, I'm using pregab insufflated effectively as a a combo with pregab orally because insufflation is much more of an intense experience. 900mg insufflated provides visuals at times similar to mild geometric s-ios ketamine, and a much more intense body feel, shorter duration. Typically if I redose pregab it's just once and it's 300mg insufflated, that's generally done and timed so they 2 doses peak at similar times but trail off towards the end of the day allowing more sedative combos later.

Any advice from people about what's best to do with usage frequency? pregab is my fav drug and I really don't ever want to build up a tolerance to it, would like the fun to always be there if it it mean long tolerance breaks.

EDIT: to add I noticed the tolerance build up because before my GABA break on my last use of pregag I didn't get high on 300mg and required 600mg to get the effect I wanted, I took this as a red flag and stopped using pregab straight away, going cold turkey, and suffering zero withdrawal effects (I think, though have had some sleep issues which I think are stress induced).

Interesting take on tolerance build up with weekly use of any drug. You are doing the Pregab one day weekly? (not two in a row or anything) You talked about redosing. Is there a rule there? Like only one redose allowed or anything?

I've noticed similar with pot. One day a week can go on for long periods (Maybe indefinitely, but maybe 10 months or so) with no deleterious effects (tolerance, significant hangover, cravings). But, two days a week will eventually catch up with you and 3 days quickly catch up with you.

I'm very strict on once weekly on a single day maximum, that's usually only 300mg oral as well, if I redose that's infrequently (once every 1-2 months) and typically an additional 300mg insufulated on the same day as the oral dose. I never take pregab on consecutive days.

edited for clarity

Once per day, once per week? Interesting.
I try to never do a gabapentinoid more than that, one time one time per week. But I'm not quite as in love with them as you, so it's not every week (although I do like them). If I do that too many consecutive weeks or twice a week a couple times I do find a bit of depression the day after.

So you were taking 300mg 1x a week for 10 months, took a 1 month break, then you needed 600mg to get a good feeling from Lyrica when you started back??

almost yes, I'd say after the break I'd need less than 600mg to get the same high, I'd guess something around 400mg, but they come in 300mg caps and I've done upto 900mg in 1 go a few times + I'm lazy so popping 2 was just easier at the time.

300mg is defiantly not enough now though, might have to do another break and see if I can improve things, it's my DOC so I don't want to be fucking the fun up for good

Interesting, I have had a script for like 2 years. Never liked Lyrica for almost the first whole year. I randomly took it one day and I guess that it just starting clicking with my body. I've been using it 2x a week at no more than 300mg for 6ish months now about. I find that using it this way has made it so my tolerance has not gone up, I have the 75mg capsules. I have taken a couple times about 350 mg and it's always been too much as my goal is to get like a good buzz feeling but nobody else around me knows and I am functional so 300 has been 👌🏼so far.

I have a pretty shit GABA system.

too much alcohol, been hitting soma, ghb, pregab and a bit of benzo in the past year so suspect the partial cross tolerance is kicking in, I'm cutting down the gaba generally, hopefully that will help sort things out

the tolerance on these things is insane, I did another 600mg last night & I only felt at best 70% of the effect I was after.
How long do most people take as a break from these things so they get the full effect?

Ever had RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) from doing to much Pregab?
If you ever had an Opiate issue it's the same feeling you get in your legs, they twitch & feel like you have ants inside your skin, you CANNOT get away from the feeling inside them.

when I researched it via AI (so take with a pinch of salt), the conclusion was you reach a breakeven point on positive GABA effect after 1-2 weeks, a month break for me gave noticeable improvements but I'm planning on giving them a 2 month break at some point. Going to cut out all GABA I think at the same time, then when I start taking them again I'm going to be much more narrow in what I take.

Mixing and matching different GABA is creating compounded problems for me with partial cross tolerance, from what I've read better to stick to 1 thing that way your GABA systems isn't constantly trying to adapt. Suspect part of the reason when 1 month wasn't enough for me
