The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

yes, it does. I don't understand whats wrong with seeing a movie sober, especially LOTR, the first time.

I will do my best to do the as many hours of LOTR in the one day before watching ROTK... I have been looking forward to this for oh about 4 years since I heard there was a possibility of LOTR being made... now the final film is almost here. It can't get here fast enough...

Oh and I definitely agree that seeing movies sober is pretty much the only way to see them, especially something as epic as this is going to be. If I was into seeing movies stoned - which I am not, I would wait until at least the second time that I saw it so that I didn't miss anything.

CB.

i can see where randycaver is coming from.

i guess it's sad in a way that many people's first reaction to certain movies is "i'm going to get so high to see that" - there's an implication that the art doesn't stand up on its own.

don't get me wrong, i'm all for getting baked and watching movies but it's the automatic nature of the response which i'm talking about.

Perhaps I am a nerd, but I've had a ROTK coundown clock on my desktop for over a year, my how it feels good to see only 9 days left compared to over 300.

Also, the 17th is my last day of school for this semester, so what better as a capper.

damn all you americans for getting this movie before us poor aussies... we have to wait til the 26th... but the 26th is going to be a fine day indeed :)

michael, you REALLY don't like these movies do you? Do you know exactly what the ending is going to be? I'm very curious as to what the return to the shire is going to be like...will it include sauremon as the boss or the hobbits banding together to kick the bandits out of the shire?

michael you really are one of a kind man, at least as it pertains to this topic w/in this forum:) can you not enjoy the movies on any level? i would think that even though it didnt go exactly the way you want it to you'd be stoked to see a novel you love brought to life. i guess it works in reverse though if you totally hate the way it was done but i cant fathom totally hating these films.

im prolly gonna end up seeing the extended versions of the first two over the next two weeks, leading into the 3rd. are all cities showing these in the theaters?

well michael, we all have figured out by now that you don't like them.

you like the books better. we know. why do you continue to post your hatred? it's not like anything would be to your liking.

let's hope it's better than the last one - not that it was *bad*, just that fotr was so awesome. i hope it doesn't get overtaken by spectacle, but knowing jackson he should have it pretty under control...

well of course -

but i'd like to hear more reasoning behind the hatred besides just .. "this sucks"

Like explain why you think the casting is awful. I thought the casting was great. Obviously I haven't read the books, but I'm interested in knowing your opinion, simply knowing that you hate it isn't enough for moi :)
