Kratom The Kratom Megathread

Being in Canada, you can get OTC codeine, using maeng da Kratom in conjunction with it may increase it's effectiveness taking a lower initial dose to save your liver from the massive acetaminophen dosing which causes liver damage. Those combination pain killers with it are pointless and causes damage to the patient. I believe all opiate pain killers should have no form of aspirin or n.s.a.i.d's, allowing patients to take an appropriate amount according to their pain without worrying about health damage.

Codeine and kratom definitely potentate each other. Interestingly there doesn't seem to be much cross-tolerance either. I've definitely got a growing kratom tolerance but my codeine tolerance disappeared after only using kratom for a few days. But combining them is nice especially with promethazine. Been gulping both kratom and codeine linctus. Lovely mix.

The method most commonly used by Santa Claus is to measure out and take one at a time 3 full table spoons of maeng da strain powder, turning the spoon upside down in his mouth to dump the powder in then chasing it with warm yet not hot coffee to wash it down. He pointed out that his yarbles were pulsating after the method. He then reached into his Christmas sack and pulled out 10 Tylenol 1's smashed them down with a spoon into powder using the bottom of the spoon with them in a corningware (R) deep-set type dish and made it a white Christmas for sure lining up the powder and snorting it until he seen the northern lights.

I have a bag of Maeng Da Kratom Capsules. I've heard good and bad about these. Can anyone link me or tell me about these? What are the effects if I take a couple capsules?

Things factor in:

1) are you opiate tolerant?
2) have you injested any intoxicating substances including alcohol?
3) weight/body mass

If you are opiate tolerant, the capsules are 500 mgs each 2 making a gram. A dose of 10-15 capsules as an initial dose will not cause any adverse effects and you will feel them kick in within 30 minutes. You should be fine taking a few, yet, it is doubtful with only a few that you will feel much relief from pain nor feel energized. If you're not sure, take 8 and see how you feel. If its nothing, take the other 8 and that should be a decent median dose.

Kratom does not appear safe for the liver:

Our patient, a 25-year-old man, with a BMI of 23.4 kg/m2, ingested kratom for 2 weeks. He was aware of and curious about the effects of the drug and ordered the powdered substance via the Internet, where it was advertised as an additive for footbaths. He ordered two kinds of powder (so-called Thai Pimp and Malaysian Green, both powder from ground up leaves) and took both powders on a daily basis orally, washing the powder down with orange juice. The ingested amount started with one to two teaspoons (one teaspoon is about 2.3–3.5 g, corresponding to approximately five to eight dried leaves) twice daily. In the course of 2 weeks, he increased the intake to four to six teaspoons daily. No further illicit drugs, medication (e.g., antibiotics, analgesics), dietary supplements, or alcohols were consumed; the patient’s diet was adequate, and he was otherwise healthy. He described the effect of the drug as mildly relaxing, causing tiredness, and noticed a loss of appetite, without observing any stimulating effects. After cessation of drug intake due to inconvenient swallowing, he developed subjective fever and chills on day 2 after cessation, which lasted for about 1 week. On day 5 after cessation, he noticed slight abdominal discomfort, which developed into intense abdominal pain on day 8 and concomitant brown discoloration of the urine. The next day, the patient developed noticeable jaundice and pruritus and consulted his physician. He was admitted to hospital on that same day, approximately 10 days after cessation. The initial physical examination showed a pronounced jaundice but was otherwise unremarkable

Liver problems with kratom only happen to those predisposed to them and they always seem to happen pretty quickly, like the case you quoted happened in just two weeks. The consensus seems to be that if you've used kratom for more than a few weeks and have not had liver problems, kratom will not cause them. If you are unlucky enough to be one of the few who will get liver problems from kratom, they will happen very quickly.

Kratom will always be a pretty nasty drug for me, I've got a bag of crushed leaf Bali and really there are only two ways to take it: Toss & wash, or capsules. Toss & wash isn't even an option for me as even if I can swallow it without hurling it all up (which by the way I can't), I still have to deal with the nausea whilst it's digesting also. Capsules take ages to fill, ages to swallow all of them, and it can't be so great to have all that gelatin from the capsules in your gut when you already have fairly weak digestion to begin with, and especially not as a daily thing. Funny how I see Kratom -- which is essentially a natural substance -- as a 'bad' drug yet I see other 'fake' opioids that come in tablet form as 'good when used in moderation'.

Anyone got any other suggestions on how to take it? Also, I've had the same airsealed (but previously opened) bag of crushed leaf kratom for a few months now, is it still safe to use?

Kratom IS USUALLY safe for MOST people's livers but there are those who cannot tolerate it who shouldn't use it.

These people are probably predisposed to liver problems with Kratom and that's why they have issues.

It annoys me when people come on here who have obviously never used Kratom and find a few studies of bad effects and say that means it's unsafe for the liver.

I've taken it many times and seen the doctor without bad effects on my liver after taking a blood test.

There are negative reports regarding almost all substances that are not the norm.

You are spreading information that people have already shared in this thread and others and acting as if it is a regular occurrence.

I only use capsules now and with the "000" size I can fit 7-8 grams in eight of them and can fill them in around 3 minutes. Even with these being massive I can easily swallow two at a time so 30 seconds at most.

Not dick sizing or anything but if it's taking you ages then you are doing it wrong. :)

Toss N Wash would be the last way I would ever take it, disgusting.

What you do is get some single ply toilet paper and rip it down to about 1/2 to 3/4 it's original size.

Lay it down on a flat surface and pour out 2-4gs. Wrap in a tight rectangle and hold wrapped end onto your tounge so it doesn't open in your mouth.

Fill your mouth with a non carbonated flavored drink. Flavored helps a lot. Do not swallow till you already have a mouth fall of fluid to help push it down while you drink more.

I would have to eat an ounce a day and this is the only way I'd be able to get it down. It's still no fun but 100xs better than a Toss.

Single ply toilet paper ripped in half. Make 2-4g parachutes and use a mouth full of flavored drink to push it down before you attempt to swallow.

Wrong. I have used several times kratom (as a tea). I thought it was quite "heavy" on my liver, much like a hangover the next day with alcohol. I have not had a problem personally, however I reported for harm reduction ...

I just received a vacuum-sealed bag of Super Green Malaysian via Canada Post! Awesome, because there's a blizzard here in Eastern Canada today and I will likely be housebound. I've only tried the Red Kalimantan and Maeng Da strains thus far; looking forward to trying this one out!

Just toss n' washed two tbsp and washed it down with some orange gatorade.

Edit: Really enjoying the Super Green Malaysian, although I think I like red strains a bit better. I've yet to try a white strain, which, if I understand correctly, are supposed to have more of a stimulating effect? Maybe I'll try that next time I order something. :)

Even if I thought you hadn't used Kratom before, I am still not wrong here.

How much of this thread have you read??

Not much I'm guessing.

The fact it felt heavy on YOUR liver is just anecdote.

We've discussed AT LENGTH the cases you mentioned, and we have VERY good reason to assume these are anecdotal reports and that Kratom is IN GENERAL safe for MOST PEOPLE'S livers.

You are new to this forum or else you would know that a number of the most experienced Kratom users on this forum including moderators have come to the conclusion that it's safe for MOST PEOPLE'S livers with some people responding badly to it.

So I have a question regarding full spectrum tincture.

Used to use this stuff a lot, to the point of addiction, even. I quite over a month ago and no I've just been indulging from time to time. Wds are gone but my tolerance still seems to be through the roof, it does work but I'm using more than I did at the height of my addiction.

So is it just tolerance, or did I get a bunk product? Trusted vendor but still, you never know, right?

Why do people fuck with extracts and tinctures?it just blows your tolerance to all hell..

To the above guy who felt a load on your liver, what do you mean?how did u feel it being heavy on your liver?this seems unlikely to me

Liver problems are not a typical side effect of using Kratom, I must concur that they are rapidly noticed by those who have liver issues already. I have never heard a case in which Kratom was harmful all by itself, it is effective as a mild pain reliever and a w/d aid to those in opiate cessation. The only drawback I have seen is it tends to be pricey unless ordered in bulk, making it more a one-off pain reliever rather than a chronic pain reliever unless you are rich. It is far safer than alcohol without the terrible consequences associated with alcohol use.

Similar at much alcohol (dosage around 4/5 grams).

I still don't understand what is a heavy liver. Alcohol hangovers aren't typically associated with liver toxicity, and if it is, you'll probably be in the hospital. Abdominal discomfort is a very common side effect of kratom, and it doesn't necessarily correlate with liver problems.
