The Industrial Thread

Best CD that everyone forgot about:

speedy j - a shocking hobby.

It's industrial in the original spirit of the word, NOT like covenant or VNVnation.

I haven't gone too deep into this genre; but NIN was my life for a couple years and I've got a lot of love for Gravity Kills and Stabbing Westward.

I wouldn't place these as industrial. More "rock with keyboards".
...
I'd say a good starter for the genre is Skinny Puppy "Too Dark Park."

I just picked up my first industrial album, Calling ov the Dead by Velvet Acid Christ. I've been into mainstream industrial metal and rock like Rammstein for a while, but never really gotten into the serious industrial stuff. For the past few days I've been checking out stuff like VAC, Combichrist, Suicide Commando and Skinny Puppy online, and I really like it. Anyone have any reccomendations of specific bands or albums I should check out?

Can you name any particular albums or songs that do it for you out of the list?

If you go for the dancier side of things, I'd suggest:

front line assembly - tactical neural implant, hard wired
haujobb - freeze frame reality, solutions for a small planet

the noisier side?

Converter has it on lock.

Industrial is fun at times. I'm talking stuff like Dep Affect, Ophidian, shit like that. As far as I'm concerned Minsitry and NIN and shit are just, to paraphrase a poster above me, rock with keyboards. Real industrial is dirty fast fucking electronic madness. Velvet Acid Christ were one of the first darker electronic artists I got into, and he holds a special place in my musical heart.

So I can't really get into the aggro-tech stuff. Too...trancey?? I like Life Cried okay when I want some musical saccharine. However, so-called 'Power Noise' got way better when I wasn't looking. Pneumatic Detach is fucking rad...

i don't listen to nearly as much industrial as i used to, but velvet acid christ, front 242, chemlab, wumpscut, arzt+pfusch and a few more i'm probably forgetting still get played once in a while.
do fuck buttons count as industrial? been listening to them fairly regularly too.
