the guitar players megathread

Take it to a pro fixer upper. If your truss rod is stuck it could be because its at the end of the threading.Forcing another turn could take the nut off of the truss rod. Which would really suck.

Ouch, Goddamn it... I spent about 4 hours playing bass last Sat (not the one just gone, the one before) & my useful middle finger is still numb, at the tip. Anyone got any advise as to how I can get the feeling back? Lol The other two fingers were also numb but have got their feeling back, unlike my middle finger...

Are your fingers numb on the hand you were plucking with? Or on the hand that was fingering the notes on the neck? I mostly play with a pick but I do use my fingers or thumb to get deeper tones from my bass. When I first made the switch to finger style I developed huge blisters on my thumb. Total pain in my ass.
Any way if your fingers are going numb try flexing them multiple times a day until the feelings come back. Also, maybe you should try and play lighter so that you`re not putting as much force on your finger tips. Just an idea.

Cheers man! It's the middle finger on the "fret" hand thats the worst, feels annoyingly wierd typing this Lol

It's dead right on the tip, actual finger-print area is fine, just the very tip is numb & that's 10 days later now. I hadnt played for ages so got a bit carried away. It hurts a little too, like the bone is bruised. I dont think I did anything that could have damaged any nerves or anything (suggested by a violin playing friend). Either way, the general concensus is, the feelign will come back in time. I hope so!

that sounds well annoying. i would suggest not playing until the feeling goes away and then gradually buiding up your finger strength again. otherwise you might do some permanent damage and not be able to play properly again.

Off topic slightly: I`m a bass player more than anything but I do have a few guitars left to me by my Dad after he passed away. So every one in awhile I`ll get lit up and mess around on one of his git fiddles. God damn I sound terrible! Those extra B and E strings and how close the spacing is really throws me for a wammy! When I first start playing I sound like i a spastic special-ed student at his first lesson. But by the time I`m done warming up I sound like a 2 year spastic special-ed student! Stellar!!!!!

I've been playing Guitar/bass for about 7 years i own 2 electric guitars. One washburn floyd rose in honor of dimebag darryl and another whammy Fernandez but no floating bridge. one acoustic that i hardly play and a 5 string bass. I try to play everyday and I manage to. been trying to learn some 80's Ratt songs like Lay it Down, Back For More. Guitar is amazing.

Sorry for any confusion. When I said "git fiddle" I mean guitar. Git fiddle is just a silly name I use some times when i`m having some fun. Sorry for the confusion!

^ It's weird how many people call guitars "git fiddles". When I first started playing, me and a friend would get together and jam and since we were always stoned when we played, we jokingly came up with the name "git fiddle" because it sounded funny. A couple years ago I typed "git fiddle" into Google and my mind was blown.

Any guitarists here? Specifically Fingerstyle guitarists?

I've noticed that fingerstyle guitarist seem to be very clean cut people.. I tend to feel like the odd one out occasionally. I play jam band, blues, jazz, classic rock, country, and bluegrass as well.

So lets hear it, who's a guitar player?

This'll probably get merged with the other guitar player thread, but for the record, I love fingerstyle. I feel like there's a lot more freedom in what you can play than if you stick with a pick alone. Also, even the simplest patterns sound really impressive to non-guitar players, so there's that.

Fingerstyle guitar players that are clean cut hey. Well you can put me down as the LEAST clean cut classically trained guitarist going around lol.

Though I still play a lot of electric, I mean I have 6 guitars, you have to chop and change.

that is a fucking sweet amp likes.

loving the hemp speaker cone in particular.

what guitar are you using with it?
