I'm sorry but by what I'm reading here no wonder there's stigma towards drug users. Would you not wish to prove people wrong about drug users? What's wrong with expressing distaste for music or talent without resorting to name calling or physical abuse (eg throwing bottles of urine)?

Fair enough not everyone likes rap n maybe people don't agree with rap music being at Glastonbury. Again cool. But death threats are over the top n just make the people / person look like an immature thug.

Well obviously death threats are a little over the top, and throwing bottles of piss is bloody dangerous as well as disgusting, but I personally have never engaged in either of these activities. Also, I don't see what's immature about telling the truth - Kanye West IS a pig ignorant talentless moron with an over inflated ego.

But what have drugs got to do with any of this? Are we supposed to be totally devoid of a sense of humour in case anyone might think badly of us? Monsters of rock has never had a reputation as a drugs festival, and Glastonbury lost that image in the 80s. The point is that Glastonbury has always strived to be a serious music festival offering quality acts - but has been going off the rails of late e.g. Dolly Parton last year ffs... She even had the gall to blatantly mime! I think the announcement that K.West was going to be a headline act was the final straw for a lot of people. There's a time and place for rappers of his ilk and Glastonbury ain't one of them (actually, neither is this universe imo).

Anyway, what do I care - festival went to shit when they put the fences up, let the police in and turned it into the 'trendy must go to' event for middle class students, trustafarians and Norman Normals to act like hippies for the the weekend and take as many selfies as possible so they can upload it all to FB to brag to all their fwiends "oh yah, I totally went to Glastonbury, It was awesome". Its got too big, it's lost sight of it's roots, its gone mainstream, trendy, sterilised and part of the establishment. Even the local folk go now cos they all get free tickets..

Plus, Hawkwind never play there any more so it must be shit :)

Never been to Glastonbury but always wanted to. But at £100 a ticket. Fuck that. I do agree that they have messed things up n put acts there that really have no business being there. Sorry for calling you immature that was a bit OTT. I'd just had a row with someone n was all fired up so apologies for that one.

Yeah but FUBAR is immature. :p And he should immediately go onto Cheryl Whatever and Kanye West's Twitter accounts to apologise for his immature outburst. They might read it here some day. :\

Hah, same here. There is something I don't understand about fucking Twitter. Well, probably loads of things, but I don't get it either. I expect things to show up straight away, but it's like they disappear into the void.

I feel myself losing touch with technology, and I hate that. :|
 
The only music I've seen outdoors was Red Hot Chili Peppers, supported by acts like The Pixies, Hot House Flowers n Groove Amarda, in Phoenix Park, Dublin, back in 2004. 2 pm until 2 am was absolutely ace.

I love Dublim n need to visit again someday.

The thing is Yeezus was one of the most important albums of the past few years. You might not like it, but that's to be expected. At least the Glen Miller fans (who were also probably a bit racist ;)) kept out of what was going on at festivals 30 odd years ago.

Jesus, Yeezus? (I must admit I had to Google it). Popular it may have been, but I'm not sure if 'important' is a status that can be ascribed to any modern music, though having never heard it I can't really comment. Is it revolutionary? Does it lay the foundations for a new rock 'n' roll as the man himself claims?
Has he ever heard Hawkwind?
 
To each their own, but I struggle to see why perhaps the world's biggest music act shouldn't appear at Glastonbury, one of the world's biggest festivals. Like it or not, it's a commercial festival, and most of the bands that have headlined since the 90s have been mainstream, albeit they happened to be guitar bands. You can't expect them to keep headlining a style of music that is on the way out.

I know it's pointless arguing about music as each to their own, but when an artist's ability is created in the studio, then I don't think they have earned the right to headline a festival of live music. Yeh, I've nothing against him appearing, but to be booked to headline when there are so many talented bands around who have earned their wings through sheer ability, is wrong in the wrongest sense of the word. But I'll give that album a listen ASAP so that I can criticise with authority ;)


BTW, rock and roll will never die...
