Oh I'm full of national pride and Parisian arrogance. Just trying not to spread it around too much on a forum essentially composed of English folk :D

Well if you think the UK is bad, I broke my arm in Italy, it was complete fracture. They gave me NO painkillers. None. So they did the x ray, had to move my arm, with NO painkillers. The bone was at a 45 degree angle, very close to ripping through my skin. Not even a paracetamol.

Now that is pain. In a hospital, and no pain relief.

And I went on a plane ride back to the UK with paracetamol and ibuprofen we had to get ourselves. the pressure played the cast up, I could feel the bone moving. :\

fuck you Italy

Fuck knows TBH. But it was a hospital.

The nurse back in the UK didn't believe me. Well she did, she ran to get me codeine and asked Dr for some morphine.

You know what codeine at least takes the edge off it!

Yet at the same time they are asking for harder regulations on the prescribing of shit like tramadol. Its insane.

I'm taking a break from the MST, been off for a couple of weeks.

I'm not convinced it works particularly well for me, ramping up the dose seems to do little other than give me more fatigue.

My doctor is pretty good about it and despite the hospital suggesting Tramadol he was far from keen, in his opinion it had more side effects and was more likely to cause me dependence issues than the slow release MST.

I'm hoping the warmer weather and continued exercise regime will see further improvements to my mobility and pain, it will be a year next month to when I managed to hit that fekin traffic island....what a stupid place to leave it :D

If you mean Morphine I'd hardly call it a waste, I hardly think IVing the stuff 3 or 4 times a day is an attractive alternative.

In medical use the BA is largely irrelevant and oral is by far the safest and most convenient method of administration.

Had a week off due to this fekin cold thing but other than that I've been doing about 10mins Excercise Bike and 10 mins Cross Trainer every weeks day for about 6 weeks.

It really paying off, I can walk better and the pain in general is getting less but more importantly it's finally starting to get straighter and I'm not far off being able to lock the knee out again.

Unfortunately the leg isn't straight and bows out a fair bit on that side, it will never be back to what it was, which is saying something as it was wrecked already but a short time on a wheel chair was enough to make me feel grateful I can walk at all.

I'm just rebuilding my old Lambretta, so I'll be back on the road to celebrate the anniversary of the crash :D

Thanks for askin BTW

Very true. Podger it instead - BA is nearly as high as IV only without any of the associated risks. Your script'd probably last twice as long and be twice as effective. Morphine is very sedating though :\

In pain news, back is feckin' killing me :!

Is near the end of me monthly taper so am doubly ouchy. Tis a shitey state of affairs :\

^^

For me the time release was more effective and they won't script me instant release anyhow, I know how to break the time release and could acquire instant if I wanted them but the stuff makes me feel even more knackered than usual anyhow.

Whilst I was in the initial stages of recovery and just laying about it was OK now I think I'd rather live with the pain I'm left with, it ain't going to go away and isn't so bad these days as long as I do the exercise.

Sorry to hear about your back Shamles, are you off the Trammies all together now ?

I'm not adverse to a bit of a podger though:D

Ah yes. Would need to break the time-release to stop it turning to gloop, probably. I know I've IV'd MST before (yes, I know that's none too wise - was just cos I'd never done it before) so presumably can be prepped for podgers. From memory I just crushed up the wee balls, added cold water and basically did a CWE. Definitely worked and I'd rather podger the resulting solution than inject it... in fact I'm fairly sure I have done. Memory is a tad hazy though. When I get MST I tend to get fuckloads for essentially nowt so am usually not all that fussed about just gubbing loads despite it being horribly wasteful. And no point if ER works better for you anyway really... although I'd personally rather use less to achieve the same effect and dose more often. Am fond of IR stuffs in general though. Is nice to have just a smidge of "drugginess" with ya meds =D

In tram news, ya am totally off 'em now. Replacement additional painkiller has been naproxen so far which I hate. I don't get on well with NSAIDs and naproxen is especially brutal on the gut. I seem to tolerate it somewhat better than I used to though and will no doubt help my case somewhat to demonstrate I do at least try non-opi options.

My Dr fucked my prescription for gabapetin, iv gone done to basically nothing. Fucking back is killing me, and I have got a few ibuprofen and paramol left, and down to half a amitrip so my back kills! Not cool, got long train journey weds.

Going be painful, I'm not a happy bunny.

She didn't give me enough. So I phoned up Friday asked for a phone appointment, the receptionist but me on hold for 30 seconds and pretended to speak to the duty Dr. And said i could NOT get a new prescription! I know this as there is no way she could have been that quick, and the Dr would have wanted to have spoken to me. She is a total cunt, she has previous form to do this sort of thing. And then I ran out of credit.

So phoning again Monday so I can speak to my GP, I'm also putting in a formal complaint.
