The Drug's in the Mail - The Silk Road and our very own Tronica!

Those forums replicate GTA forums 1:1, filled with tonnes of ignorant and absoutely stupid negligent people.. fucking aggravates me just thinking about it.

However, there are a couple of posters with signifant and logical information. Generally the website is being watched by (probably) every active country's LE.

Though, it is handy for people who are disabled and still want their drugs.

fucking +1

EDIT: these are not the people I want representing the fight against the war on drugs, SR is the epitome of the type of people created by the war on drugs.

I love hearing all the people getting asked "How did you get it in? What methods do you use?" And every one starts their answer with "Errr.."

One person said he got busted for 1 pill and it sounded like it was only interstate though, pretty interesting.

agreed, I think Tronica articulates what we all would like to say very nicely and professionally. Thanks for being our voice of reason :)

Thanks guys. I just listened - I'm happy with it too!

Irene and I did 15 minutes of interview so she only took a couple of phrases but I was happy with that - just glad they had input from so many others, AFP, Customs, Aust Post. The Project segment really wasn't as comprehensive as this radio segment - although of course TV is usually briefer than radio.

Interesting how they had a few people living in rural/regional Australia calling in. Wonder what proportion of Aussie SR users are based in less populated areas (sounds like I'm hatching more research !)

I hate to pigeon hole people but its fairly obvious from the way the Aussies talk on SR and the prices they quote for drugs that a fairly large percentage reside in either rural Australia or somewhere other than a major city, although they also could be people who have no other means of getting their drugs of choice because without SR they would be sat watching home and away tonight instead of necking MDMA from Holland.

SR is a real thorn in the side of governments worldwide and at the moment Im not sure where I sit in regards to this site, In a way I see SR are being a perfect example of why the drugs war is useless, and then I see the people who post and the admins reasons for having SR and I worry that society will use SR as an example of what can happen if drugs were legalised, and I fucking cringe.

Personally I dont want drugs to be legalised to give me more access to drugs as its not hard to score most drugs, I would like to see less people dying because of prohibition.

OK we can't talk prices here but in more general terms, I did a calculation on a gram of MDMA from Holland and found it to be considerably cheaper than any possible Australian prices, like a quarter of the price. Even for city folk who are well connected, that has to be a huge draw card?

Good points about SR being (1) an example of why prohibition doesn't work and (2) a reason why prohibition may remain. I see it as a challenge to prohibition. And I'm not sure who is going to win the battle.

Legalisation is different to regulation which is different to decriminalisation. I think most of us here would agree that drugs should be treated as a social and health issue not a criminal issue. Once we can agree on that, there are many other policy options that are not full legalisation that could be considered, trialled and adopted if they work out.

I'm heading to this conference next week... very excited about it: http://www.issdp.org/conferences.php Will be talking about Silk Road and the bigger picture of drug policy implications of the internet. I'll let you know how it goes!

I listened to the radio segment the other night, I thought it was pretty good.

Tronica I also checked out the prices on there and have found that even domestic suppliers seem to be offering goods for cheaper then typical street prices here. I also wonder if there is a large rural/non-metropolitan Australian user base for these type of services.

It's not just MDMA, almost every drug aside from pharmaceuticals is significantly cheaper (1/2 to 1/4 of the price) than you'd pay locally. The question is whether the lower price outweighs the risk of no payoff (if your package is seized) and delayed gratification (usually when someone wants to get high, they wanna get high 'now'). It will be interesting to see where SR goes 6 months or a year from now.

Either way, it's definitely opened the floodgates. I think internet drug distribution is only going to get bigger from here.

I wonder if it will affect domestic prices? Will local distribution be forced to compete with an increasingly global economy? I doubt it in the short term, but it might lead to a long term relative price reduction as the Australian drug market becomes less isolated and more globalized.

Fingers crossed LOL

We've got it bad when it comes to price and quality on the street, I think everyone but the people involved in making money off drugs will have their fingers crossed

Another piece in the SMH about SR. Mentions killers for hire and a few other "things" you can find on the dark webz, the killers for hire and the fights to the death are absolutely un-true, there are a couple of hitmen sites but Id say they are more scam than hard core assassins for hire who would keep your money knowing you wouldnt go to the police.

Fingers crossed LOL

bear in mind that increased competition = increased violence, alot of these young SR starts up could find themselves in big trouble once the higher ups figure out there taking a chunk of their profits.
