The Doof Thread

Attended my first doof on the weekend, absolutely loved it and met some really interesting people... Although at one stage we did feel quite awkward and out of place, dont know if it was because we were tripping but we seemed like the messiest people there, everyone's campsites we saw were so clean, we cleaned everything before we left but it just seemed weird at time. Absolutely loved it though and the setup was amazing...

I wouldn't worry I always feel out of place at a doof. Probably because I don't wear a Doof uniform like 80% of the punters and I head bak to my tent and listen to Country or reggae when I need some time out. I pretty sure I was the only one wearing a white T shirt the other night, not the mandatory green, black or beige with the assymetric rag cut hanging off the side. ;)

Sometimes I even feel out of place cooking the gourmet meals we do (not vegan of course). The thing is to realise as messy as you are, as long as you don't cause a scene no one will really notice you. Just make sure you take home what you bring and leave no trace. It really shits me when people just assume all their rubbish will be cleared by someone else, particularly at bigger doofs. :X

haha yeah I was wearing a white shirt but now that you mention it in the photos I have there's very few people not wearing green, black and biege... Had a great time sleeping on the left side of the stage going in and out of sleep as the psytrance kept pumping through my head as the sun was coming up.

Doof uniform my friend, for a bunch of people who preach not following society norms and individualism they all seem to want to wear the same stuff and have the same haircut. ;)

I'm itching for a proper beach doof. As much as I like the country air, I want to be able to camp on or near the surf and have a swim. Has anyone been to a decent 2-3 day doof on the coast?

I'm pretty sure you're saying this half tongue in cheek but...if you're seriously feeling out of place due to your clothing and your food, you're doofing it wrong :\

The most beautiful thing about Doof is it brings so many different people together for so many different reasons, and if you're Doofing it right, they're all as accepted as everyone else.

If it makes you feel any better, we have hippies of all shapes and sizes in our crew, white shirt wearing hippies included. and we cook spit roast :p

Doof is the ultimate place to feel free and embrace who you are and what you love! haters hate, doofers doof :D

What an amazing photo! It looks like a wonderful party :D

Couldn't have said it better myself, Astro <3 I've never felt anything but welcome at any doof i've been to, as has Pop - and he's definitely not a hippie in the traditional sense of the word. As for what food is eaten, etc, i would hate to be judged by that at a doof, and like you, we've had spit roast, home-made souvlaki, we take a stove top espresso pot and generally eat really really well. I've seen similar things at many other campsites. As for clothing, i've never heard of anyone being judged by their "lack of doof-uniform" and i would *never* judge those who choose to wear more traditional doof-wear - anyone who does, should leave the judgement at the gate, or simply - don't go. :\

What would one consider "Doof Uniform"? I suppose typical hippy style clothing?

Hell yeah birthday suit! There was a crusty dam at Earth Freq that despite extreme temps had limited punters lining up, except the three dudes who went nude.

It's never the hotties :(

Oh man once you start you wont wanna stop. I don't think i ever will... the hubby and i love love LOVE them so much. We get a lot out of doofing. I plan to still doof even when im pregnant! Naturally there will be NO drug taking, but that's ok because you don't need drugs to enjoy a doof. :)

There's so much grass! Envious..

I've never attended a doof where there's even a hint of grass, it's way to dry and dusty in WA.. so on occasion the dancefloor can turn into a dustbowl.. especially if winds pickup, but i suppose it gives it that flavour that you are in the middle of the bush, lol.
