The Doof Thread

Naww that's sweet you broke each others doof cherries =D

Mine was in April 2004 - it was just a day doof, my first actual camping doof was Earthcore 2004. Before that i was just into the raves and warehouse parties. What held me back though from experiencing doofs sooner was i dated a guy for about a year before i started doofing and he was into housey clubs! He knew i loved psytrance though, he bought me my first infected mushroom CD but he would never be comfortable with me actually going out and dancing in a bush! How absurd! 8)

Friends of mine managed to drag me out one night to see infected CD launch for converting vegetarians in 2003 or 4 was it? Not sure... but man that was good.. my dreams of dancing out in the bush after experiencing that only became more and more eager...

I finally made it to one after breaking up with that guy, and i haven't looked back :)
 
went to a friends bday doof with a fello bl'er cpl weeks back in victoria out passed gisbourne

was pretty fuckin good to say the least , fair big turn out for a bday party
 
Looking forward to our next doof outing on ANZAC day-weekend this month. A little event known as Progressions of Freedom will take place out in the Queensland bush and should be a memorable event!

Personally I'm really looking forward to seeing Tom Cosm and giving him a big ol' "Heyyyyyy brooooo!" during his set. I'm sure he'll appreciate the massive NZ flag Busty's planning on taking along for the dawn service stomp. ;)
 
My first was In The Pines back in Nov 2000 (Gnangara, WA) I think. Don't remember much beyond smoking over a pack of cigs, cool music and lazers in the pine tree.
A girl got raped at that event which sucked :-( and I got glandular fever after it which also sucked :-(
 
my first doof was an autumn equinox party in 1993, at a maccadamia farm in upper main arm, near mullimbimby.
i was 20.
took some lsd, mdma, an ate some gunja cake, and had the most incredible night of my life to that point. the music, the people, the venue, and the chemicals.brill.


i enjoyed it so much, i didnt leave for six months. not untill after the spring equinox party at the same place.

that winter, i tromped around the hills, waterfalls, and beaches, of the northcoast, going to more of these doofs. i was in love.

it started a love affair with electronic music that has grown to the point of being now what i do for relaxation and fun. i sit in my little studio and make music. no i dont release it, its just a hobby. and i still love to doof.
allthough
i dont go to as many these days. but i do enjoy them when i do

i am hoping to make it to re-gen, and maybe meet up with some old faces, and hopefully meet a lot more new ones

plus i am taking 2012 off to do the big desert journey.
so, you never know. i may just see you out there.

aah yes. a wattagans doof is a goood doof.

been to, and been involved with putting on, some great
doofs in the watty's.
bordinghouse dam, mt sugarloaf, mt vincent, and further down, out the back of morrissett, and even further down, out the back of wyong at a place callled the basin.
cant remember names of parties.but have been to watties parties by newy folk and sydney folk alike.
i may have given away too much. lol. some may recognize me now, if they are from newy. remember festival club.
and then there was the S&W warehouse, night flights and what have you.

This looks like fun :) Bring on the winter doof season!! Dare say i willl be at this event with a few others . Will even be there for the morning service/stomp %)

Yeh yeh I'll be along too if I can find transport and get myself organised *fingers crossed* =D Had no luck convincing flatmates etc to go as Jeff Martin is playing at the hi-fi on the 25th
 
with regards to re-gen, does anyone know about transport options for the unvehicular amongst us?

or is there anyone out there willing to give or help find a lift to said party.
travel light, pitch in etc.

experienced doofer from way back.

i realize this may be a whacky way of findin a lift, but mine has fallen thru due toserious illness in family.

as i am new to sydney/sth nsw doofs am in a posi where i am out of touch with other doofers.

A good friend of ours who is heavily involved in the scene advised us this event is now canceled. No explanation, no message to anyone - even ticket-holders!
Apparently all of the acts were sent a letter on Friday last week to say the event has been canceled, and there have been no official new releases since.

Poor form if you ask me. Busty and I bought our tickets a few weeks ago and wouldn't have known it was called off if it wasn't for our friend who has her ear to the QLD doofing ground.

Disappointed, and now looking for something to occupy us over ANZAC weekend. :(

OH NO!!!! That's terrible news, it was going to be my first proper doof in donkeys years & I was looking forward to meeting some new bluelighters :(

Ah well, I'm sure I'll meet you guys sometime soon anywho, still a good few months of cool doof-weather to come.

Hey mate, check out the forum at australiens, in the New South Wales parties section, and ask for a lift to Regen within the existing Regen party discussion thread. I'd offer, but our car is full already!

The same thing happened with last year's Regen party, although they at least had the decency to let everyone know exactly what the problem was, and offer refunds etc.

I just found a flier for the 99 one when I was moving house. Its a shame things turned out that way and the following years one got closed down.
 
My first doof was earthcore 2002. i was in year 11 at the time and just drank and smoked some pot. Never heard psy trance before, and was dragged along by an older friend. i really loved the friendly vibes, and the music.

My first proper doof was called Shrooms in 2004. It was about an hour from bendigo in some forest valley. Probably about 1000 people. really cold night but great music.

Despite going to psy clubs and the odd doof for around 7 years, i only made it to my first rainbow serpent this year! best festival ever!

I'll come down to a NSW doof with you kids soon, I promise :) I have a friend living in the blue mountains so i might fly down for a long weekend sometime... just a matter of getting myself organised.

^^ Oh nice one!! I adore the Blue Mountains <3 What suburb does your friend live in? I'm about 30-40 mins from the middle of the Blue Mtns :)
