It's not like I'm planning which songs I'm going to play when, besides I have enough music in the playlist for a 3 hours set now so it's definitely going to be mixing on the fly. I just made the playlist so I don't have to go through my entire music library to find certain songs cause a ton of the music I got I wouldn't play there since the scene is much more bass music instead of trance (which makes up half my music library.)

:)

Ah like that, yeah I do it like that too. There's alot of DJ's "practicing" pre-planned set's out there though lol. Really pisses me off when the crowd is obviously bored and he just keeps playing his crap lol.

Wait what, you create a playlist for a rave? You do know the DJ's job is to read the response of the crowd and change your set accordingly on the fly right? ;) Preplanned sets are no good

lol sounds like you're just not good at planning ahead :sus: there's nothing wrong with putting forethought into a mix, but if the people don't like it obviously you need to be able to think on the fly as well. I like doing mashups and things in my mixes, it's a lot harder to pull that off without knowing what you're supposed to be doing. I aim for perfection when I mix, I care more about how the music sounds rather than my performance

Stop trying to impose on how other people make music dezz, we all have our own paths to creativity ;) and to be fair, producing tech is WAY easier than Hardstyle, House or really any other genre. Hell, even I've made a tech track but never got it mastered

I agree with you to a certain extent. I don't like DJ's who are obviously selecting a song with pre set cue points and just "pretending" to search for a certain part of the song or just turning knobs until it's time for them to fade in or whatever transition they chose to do WHEN they are playing to a live audience. HOWEVER I don't see anything wrong with people trying to make a perfect mix with pre-set cues and what not in their bedroom to upload to the website(s) of their choice.

Even if you have a few songs you like to play together live I find that okay but if you're entire set is laid out in front of you I don't see that as doing your job as a DJ.

Most mainstream DJ's now adays play pre-recorded mashups in their pre planned mixes. It's a shame.

With mashups it's definitely something I practice before a mix to make them sound the best but as long as you know those two songs you can really throw it in anywhere in a live mix. I'm debating playing my Pendulum - The Island 1& 2 mashup tomorrow night but the scene is more underground so I don't know how well that will do. Might do it anyways and see what happens... idk yet. It will be a decide then kinda thing.

Holy shit I'm DJing tomorrow... :O :D:D

Tomorrow is going to be killer, I'm honestly doing everything I love doing in this world in one day. Going 4x4ing in the afternoon up by the rave venue, cooking some killer food before hand, DJing, dancing, raving, gonna roll, camping with some amazing friends, and I just got the Poi I ordered today so I'm gonna spin Poi for a bit! :D

:D

Stop trying to impose on how other people make music dezz. Folley's next sentence: lol tech is way easier to make blabla. You don't know what your talking about man..

If I don't want to listen to repetitive music I don't listen to any from of electronic music.

In my opinion electronic music in all forms rely on loops much more than most other genres (not saying other genres don't loop or repeat a lot). No point bickering over what takes more skill to make or what's easier/harder. Just my 2 cents.

How is that beat more complicated? It's excactly the same. Minimal is more subtle that is all. Less in your face sounds isn't easier or harder to make. You are doing the judging here. And there are some VERY complex and melodically well crafted tech tracks out there.

I really didn't think you'd debate that, I mean that's kind of what makes tech "tech". I'm not saying there isn't some extremely deep and intricate techno, just that the majority is rather simple and repetitive. More so than other genres, at least. That's what makes tech good though, the simplicity allows you to add your own flavor to the music in your head. There's less distractions, it lets you really get into the beat and experience the rhythm.

Personally tech is just a bit too boring for me, but add some 303 synths and an acid bass and I'm down like Charlie Brown ;)

Fresh out of rehab.
20 days clean (not counting the time i was in detox. Cause i was getting valium and subutex in there.)
I'm fucking DONE now. I cant do it anymore. This last run SUCKED more than ever. I cant pick up again or i'll die.

Sucks bro, I've been a little bit too reckless lately as well. Weekly rolling, daily MXE use, frequent benzo and a couple of amp binges and trips and it's been quite the summer. Not touching anything but weed in the upcoming month or so..

i told everyone i was doing good but i was back to the same old shit, same old people.
The last time i actually got high off dope was the night before i went to rehab and i fell out in a parking lot at 4am with works and empties sitting out, i'm lucky to be alive.
I was out for a half hour. I'm lucky i didn't stop breathing. and i always fell out when i had money and dope, i wasn't exactly a careful user. I'd start with 5 bags whether or not i knew how good it was and if i had cash i'd do 6-9 within a half hour, i'm lucky i never overdosed. Heroin wants to kill me and I'm not trying to let it take over my life and thoughts again. "One more time" turned into shooting more than i was the first time i got off. Never again, ever.

Last night was just wow. Beyond happy with the 4x4 capability of my Ford Escape, went 4x4ing for a good two hours and had no issues what so ever! After that I went down to the venue of the rave early and helped set up for the rave. My opening set got everyone going and had a blast doing it! Then I rolled with my old rolling buddy and had an amazing night dancing, exploring, helping out others, chatting with strangers, building inukshuks on the rocky river shore (I am Canadian afterall ;D), watched someone spin fire poi, danced some more, and enjoyed some killer tunes! Oh I also tried Ketamine for the first time, it was really fun, something I'd do again.

So happy my rolling buddy is done with her SSRI's, I missed rolling with her. :)

EDIT: Here is my favorite photo taken while 4x4ing. :)

Never again, ever.

Good plan. :)

whew, these past few weekends have been damn good...

clubbing last week, had an excellent time.

last night went to a small house party that was more of a practice session for a few friends that dj.... Was a really good time lol.

I was offered a ticket to kwerella but turned it down. I've noticed my tolerance starting to build and I want freak night to be really fun so I'm trying to hold off.

^ I'm planning on being %100 sober for both nights at Freaknight xD

I don't like rolling at massives anymore, I prefer the smaller underground events, it's much more enjoyable I find.

llama.. you live a really crazy life dude, idk how you do it. lol

yeah I remember headhunterz played psychedelic sunshine at a show I was at, it had been raining all day beforehand and then sun came shining through the clouds.. that was awesome!

I downloaded and installed Logic Studio on my mac at the weekend.. such a huge program and tough to use for a beginner. I'll keep at it though maybe I'll find a tutorial online or something :)
