The Cannabis Discussion Thread Version 2

talking to a spanish solicitor would be a good place to start with legal matters. also checking out local business models wouldnt hurt. unfortunately i dont think youll get much info in here. only a few weeks till i start throwing in a few. gotta clear my patch with the whipper snipper, turn the soil and add compost and fresh cow shit. should be a lot better turn over than last grow this season.

Oldreds that is an awesome opportunity, I sincerely hope that you manage to pull that off mate as that really would be a dream come true for any cannabis enthusiast!

I got some babies going right now, didn't end up getting any name brand strains due to a combination of circumstances changing and also getting access to a wider variety of local beans than I anticipated.

Blackrabbit, curing is not necessary to get smokeable weed, however, I would think that anybody who went to the trouble of actually growing would want to get the most out of their end product so curing would be highly advisable. It is a sad fact that the majority of weed in this country is not cured (atleast not well) and you can tell rather easily, a cured product will taste much better and generally be less harsh to smoke. I can definately see where it seems undesirable to finally get your harvest and then have to wait another 4-6 weeks before your product is actually ready, but if you think about it, growing is already a 3-7 month wait so adding an extra month or so on top isn't really a big deal. I would just seperate a percentage of the product that you want to smoke straight away and then jar the rest up for the cure.

Thanks for that d_m an Oldred3s.

I think I'll keep a gram or 2 non-cured so I can perceive the differences myself.

Also Oldred3s, that sounds like an amazing opportunity! I hope it pans out for you, it sounds like a dream job

That Spanish thing sounds great. I thought it was only decriminalised there at the moment? Do you hablas espagnol? That would probably help.
Yeah the Spanish collectives have some awesome stuff, fresh genetics from all over the world. Also the climate is not bad for out door. Competition would probably be pretty healthy I'd bet.

^ I mean it certainly varies a lot, I was saying 3 months roughly for indoor, but for longer flowering strains or if one had a long vegging period it could be longer than that, just as one could grow autoflowering plants or very fast flowering strains with minimal veg time and take under 3 months. I would say most outdoor plants are planted between September and November and harvested in April or May, there definately are longer flowering sativas that may take longer than that to finish though. For me living in the South East of Melbourne I doubt that these are grown very commonly (although I am speculating) however in more Northern parts of Australia they are probably a bit more common. Considering the fact these plants get pretty fucking large and are also typically originating from very hot climates though it would not surprise me if they were generally planted a little later than most indica's and hybrids, although I am speculating on that as well.

an old wise pot grower ive only heard stories of who recently died had the philosophy of always planting the week after melbourne cup. this is qld im talking of.

most of the commercial stuff available is cloning. allows year round crops as youre mainly dealing with smaller plants but greater quantity. but theres also the drop in potency which is recognisable to a regular smoker. never needed to clone myself but know the process which a 'smurf' could pull off with ease.

I've heard people saying AFL grand final weekend as ideal but its possible to do it earlier as long as the genetics aren't indica dominant- because they will flower when they are tiny and then reveg. There's others that plant later in summer so the plant doesn't get too big before flowering time.

yeah ive had the problem of them hitting near and over 6ft before veg stages - thats what you get from planting bag seeds with an unpredictable growth spurt after a day or two of rain. the crowns easily pull the plant over itself once they load up. quite a spectacle to see when the fruits of labour start to pay off.

Some bud porn from my mates recent indoor grow:

Tasty, tasty buds =D

Those buds do look rather tasty mate, I am a touch jealous as my most recent pickup or two haven't been anything to write home about. Do you know the strain or was it just a bagseed grow?

Got ten little ones pushing thru there third set of leafs now and there out n the bush. Ill put a photo up tomorrow morning when I go to check on them.

On another note I've not smoked in 6 days and I feel great. I'm able to actually eat now without smoking, where as before my appetite was completely dependent on cannabis to make me feel hungry. And who dosent like a clear mind off every once in a while? On top of that a new lady has come into my life and I really couldn't be happier :)

Soo good to hear floating, those words giving me strength. Iv just stopped smoking cones, which iv been doing daily for about 4 years.

Its a big lifestyle change and is really difficult t9 find something else to fill that space that used to be sesh time.

I guess the 3 months is for hydro? Isn't outdoor like a 8 or 9 month wait?

Not at all mate, depending on climate and time of planting. Planting just before winter results in dwarf/bonzai buds (3 months) vs spring plantings 10 foot + (9 months). By reducing the amount of light the plant receives you can fool it into budding early. Also the reverse is true ie if you want bigger plants increase the hours of light exposure, although they won't throw head until you reduce the hours of light exposure. Northern climates would obviously change the growth cycle unless in greenhouses as it gets too cold. Some hydro can be ready to harvest in 2 months depending on strain ie "early girl".

Could post dozens of tip for enhancing bud density both indoor/outdoor, fertilizer regimes, soil prep (outdoors), grow strata (indoors), organic grow hydroponic/outdoor, chleated nutrients, CO2 gas during budding, Phosphorus, magnesium, potassium ratio 3:1:3 during transition to bud etc. It's more fun growing the stuff then smoking it. In terms of HR i'd recommend eating as it's less likely to cause cancer etc. and try to get organic grow hydro or outdoors and always flush hydro with just H20 a week before harvesting. This means just H20 in the nutrient feed for the entire 5-7 day period. For me personally I find cannabis use increases the risk of relapsing into depression, not as bad as synthetic but still an issue, hence I've gone off the stuff.

Yeah interesting info mate, I guess if you can get away with the 6+ footers it's much better for the yield than the dwarfs. I agree it's really fun growing them, I love the smell of the different buds, so nice.

I've eaten cookies a heap of times over the years, had some mad strong ones in byron before, been so stoned I could hardly walk or talk for a while. I dont use cannabis much either these days, I used to grow some a for a few years indoor and out, not too fussed about the whole thing now days tho, I abused the hell out of weed for like a decade and wasted so much money and was a bit lazy and stuff, so i'm glad i've stopped, mostly because I haven't got all those old contacts that I used to score off close by anymore. When I do get some weed, maybe a few times a year I try and use my vap a bit, but I usually end up hitting the bong as well.

Eating is a nice way to go about it as long as you are aware of the dose. Have been going with 0.5g of bud as a good starting point. If someone else has made it and you don't know how much is in what you've just eaten you could be in trouble.

haha yeah know what you mean. Grow great if planted over septic tanks as well, just tend to taste a bit like what they are grown in despite being very pootent. Giving up/having a break is also nice, because the hacking cough seems to take a vacation as well lol! Just 4 more rambles till I hit 300!
