The Bikie Wars

Area was closed off by police for about 7 hrs that I am aware of. Police wouldn't let anyone in or out of the street the shooting occurred on, even if they were a resident. Police requested ID from residents when they did return.

HOTEL RAID: Police investigating bikie shooting question five, charge two.

May 20, 2009 09:00am

GANG crime squad detectives investigating Monday's bikie shooting have charged two men after yesterday raiding a Joondalup hotel room.

The police raid followed the shooting of two men, including former Gypsy Jokers bikie gang president Lennard Kirby, at a Jandakot property at 4.20pm on Monday.

A 24-year-old Tapping man was charged with possessing an unlicensed firearm and possessing unlicensed ammunition.

He will appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court today.

A 29-year-old man, also from Tapping, remains in hospital after being treated for gunshot wounds. He has been charged with breaching bail and a bedside court hearing will be held at a later date.

Three others were questioned by police after yesterday's hotel raid but have not been charged.

Kirby, recently released from prison on parole after serving seven years for drug trafficking, was shot three times in the chest.

An associate, Alexandro Scilio, was shot in the arm.

Both are recovering under police guard in hospital.

A blue Subaru Impreza sedan which was seen leaving the shooting scene has been located, police said.

Inquiries into the shooting are continuing.

You do realise this is all hype.

I don't hear of any actual club members in trouble here.

It's all either ex-members or people affiliated with clubs getting up to the shit. These are then written about as if they are club members.

^^^^ yep, that's them. the bikies - without bikes, or at least, it isn't compulsory to have one. lol

Think Hawi was meant to be released on bail yesterday. I remember reading something, but have too much work to do and too many feeds to trawl through. I'm sure someone will post, hehe

Comanchero boss Mick Hawi leaves jail

Wednesday, 20 May 2009 3:50 PM

Comanchero bikie boss Mick Hawi, charged over a fatal brawl at Sydney airport, has walked out of jail on bail only to be tailed by police.

Hawi left the Metropolitan Reception and Remand Centre in Sydney's Silverwater about 2.50pm (AEST) on Wednesday.

He walked out of the jail, but within minutes he was running down the street, pursued by police officers.

Hawi reached a car and was driven away, but the car was followed by at least one police car, with its siren wailing.

The 28-year-old, who is facing a charge of affray, was granted bail by the NSW Supreme Court on Friday on a surety of $200,000.

But he had remained behind bars, unable to immediately raise the funds.

In granting Hawi bail, Justice Megan Latham set a strict curfew, meaning he must not leave his home between the hours of 8pm and 8am (AEST) each day.

He also is forbidden to contact his co-accused and witnesses, and must not visit the Comanchero clubhouse at Milperra.

Justice Latham agreed Hawi needed to be with his wife Carolina Gonzales, who is well advanced in an "at-risk pregnancy".

Hawi is due to appear in Central Local Court on May 27.

He had been in custody since his arrest at the beginning of April over a brawl in Sydney airport's domestic terminal that fatally injured Anthony Zervas, 29.

Now they were scary!!:)

But seriously, when you have prohibition of any product or activity, you will always have typically a group of stand over merchants filling the demand. Organised crime has always thrived on this stuff. Alcohol prohibition of the 1920s effectively helped create the mafia.

The solution, controlled regulation of the product.

It's the best of the bad options. I'd rather buy my drugs from a quality controlled, licensed government distributor than a gang of goons who will make top dollar regardless of what the product is.

Bikies under the current system are providing a community service, all be it illegal! It's called supply and demand.

Personally I'd rather see them settle their differences with Paper, Rocks, Scissors as opposed to guns. But then again I really can't see it catching on somehow?=D

^^ I think it may be an abbreviation for a very small club that only he knpws about and felt the need to brag about his afilliations with.

OT

If the 'bikies' are as we know involved in organised crime, are harassed by police and media for wearing their patches while riding together and crossing state lines etc why don't they disband the Ulysses for riding in their hundreds on the roads. How do we know individual members of the Ulysses aren't involved in organised crime?

A Hells Angels bikie is among three people charged over a clandestine drug laboratory in Adelaide.

Police said on Thursday the 22-year-old bikie and a 51-year-old man were arrested at their homes on Wednesday and were jointly charged with taking part in the manufacture of a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.

They were both refused bail and were listed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court.

A 33-year-old man had previously been arrested for a similar offence after the amphetamine drug lab was located at a suburban Mawson Lakes property in March.

He appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court and was bailed to appear again at a later date.

Again, the ages of these guys getting arrested over labs/trafficking just depresses me.

22 seems very young for a bikie?

Nevertheless, it's interesting to see the spotlight off NSW for the time being.
