that's what surprised me too! i wish i could get a pic of the damn thing! it makes me wonder if it's another species of mushroom that's getting passed off as psilocybe cubensis...

Pink Buffalo have a Tendency to grow incredibly THICK LARGE CAPS.

Yeah, cubensis CAN have caps that size. It is not altogether common, but it is possible.

If the cap is golden/blue, I'd go for it.
 
First she should check that the mushrooms are DRY. If she is purchasing WET mushies than the weight could EASILY be 1/8 oz for one mushroom (you need to eat more wet shrooms to get the same effects as dried ones)

For a DRY mushroom to weigh an eight of an oz. it would have to be QUITE large.
 
Yeah dude it's possible by far, when i was growin me mushies for awhile way back when i came across tons of mushies that have weighed out to an 8th or more. One time i even managed a 5g cap. It's definitely plausible, tell that chick to grab that while it's still there!
 
hefty caps?

i myself have came across many a large varieties. the heaviest being amazonian a.k.a. "Penis Envy" and yes they do that. My friend brought one he grew to a festival and it weighed 27 grams dried. the cap was closed and you could tell they were dehydrated. (rock hard) it had to weigh at least a quater itself. hope this helps. peace
 
The heaviest cultivated cubensis mushrooms are recorded to be well over 200 grams fresh.

Personally I have only managed to grow a few 60 gram mushrooms.
 
I've seen huge caps too... unfortunately the one i had didn't seem very strong. Some say the smaller the better, like with chillies, but I'm not sure how true this is. It was probably just that particular shroom that was weak.
