The Big & Dandy Methoxetamine Thread - Hit #12 - Oh look, it's MXE o'clock

Awesome. So, is the point of light in the actual center of your vision, or off to the periphery, in the center of your conscious attention? Intuitively, I feel like it would work best when you're focusing your conscious attention on peripheral darkness, to the side of a central point of light (your brain is extrapolating the central light into the periphery).

Here's something I've noticed with MXE users. Because of the extremely variable nature of MXE trips in general, people experience substantially different effects from trip to trip, and incorrectly attribute the difference to external variables, rather than the intrinsic variability of MXE itself. So, people get all of these wacky delusional ideas about differences between routes of administration, and various "batches" of MXE, when they're all more or less the same.

Different roas do produce slightly different effects, snorting comes on faster and can be more stimulating, while subligual takes alot longer to come up and is calmer though with as many people who swear by sublingual I always feel like its weaker and I just ended up wasting some. And there is a big difference in alot of the batches, with the sandy off white grainy kind being lower quality and the powdered batches being hit or mis, sometimes its good sometimes its bunk. The salty bright white, or tiny tiny sugar looking crystal batches are always the best. This comes up on almost every page of the mxe threads, I wish the producers would stop fucking around and get it right already.

^The problem with the idea that qualitative differences owe to chemically intrinsic compositional differences between batches (and this is true for any drug) is that it necessitates that unreacted precursors or unknown chemical synthesis byproducts are powerfully pharmacologically active at doses well below the dose of the intended synthesis compound. So, lets say MXE batch 1 is 99 percent pure and batch 2 is 90 percent pure with 10 percent unintended compound X. For there to be qualitative differences between batch 1 and 2 that owe to intrinsic chemical differences at, say, 30mg, compound X would need to by powerfully pharmacologically active at just 3mgs (3mg being 10 percent of 30).

There may be some drugs for which this is the case, such as PCC being a potential active impurity of 4-MeO-PCP synthesis, but since for every drug that exists there are droves of people posting theories about different batches resulting in drastically different experiences it seems almost a certainty that many of them are wrong and are mis-attributing personal factors affecting their experience like set and setting, expectancy bias (you already believe it's "impure" so it's a self-fulfilling prophesy), and tolerance to intrinsic chemical factors. I don't know of any reason to suspect MXE has active unintended synthesis byproducts so it strikes me as implausible, though not impossible, that different batches are really resulting in drastically different experiences. By believing the difference is in the product we give ourselves the comfortable belief that we can control our experience by changing products, whereas if it's in unknown factors we can't control our experience and so we're not motivated to believe it like we are in the former case.

Is it possible to create a recreational drug better than MXE? No! Why do it?
I suspect patients with manic-depressive illness it is a particular pleasure. This medicine. Urgent sell in pharmacies!

Maybe. But I usually IM my mxe, and when I plug it I don't get the tinnitus or 'rush' I get from IMing it. These are things that happen every. time. I IM, but not when I plug. The peaks are basically indistinguishable, sure. But I like the rush.

this is the dark side of mxe in a nutshell

not that i'm on one to judge. i maxed out last night and didnt sleep at all and feel so fucked now. if i do it for a second night idk if i'll still be sane

Speaking of MXE's 'dark side' has anyone else experienced 'bad trips' where the typical MXE confusion escalates to ridiculous levels, where nothing seems to make sense at all, like you've lost the kernel of truth that any rational integration of reality relies on. cause and effect becomes a meaningless concept. scary thoughts of 'is this all life is?' and just the uncomfortable feeling, the fear of the unknown in a situation where EVERYthing is unknown.

another thing that happens, but with much less frequency and is most likely a result of taking too much, I will go 'catatonic' and even sort of have baby blackouts. just the people i was with telling me, 'dude, i was a little worried you were like...catatonic'

MXE feels very good and 90% of my experiences are enjoyable and positive. but every once in a while, the dissociative demon rears its head and im lucky if I even have enough wits about me to say, 'its cool, just sit here and ride it out. this wont last forever.' while it is an unpleasant experience for me, the most inconvenience it causes other people is having to deal with my child like need for reassurance.

I also feel as if MXE may develop tolerance to its NMDA receptor antagonism faster than its serotonergic action (its an uptake inibitor if i remember correctly?). Lately, my experiences with MXE have been more serotonergic than they were when I first started. This may just be the variable nature of the mxe experience as TheAppleCore mentioned, but it is pretty consistent. it's not as if 1 out 3 trials have serotonergic character, there is definitely a pattern.

Anyway, this is just me sharing my personal experiences. As always, ymmv.

I will be have a few days break off mxe before I get more. While probably not enough time to lower my tolerance, it will give me some time to ressociate and sort of get my head in a relatively clearer space. Then I will IM or plug a decent sized dose (which for me is still about 60 mg of good mxe, IMed) and write up a trip report. MXE is both incredibly fun and profound. It speaks to both the hedonist and the philosopher in me.

Interesting and makes sense. Often see black animals walking by in the corner of my eye when I'm very tired or on lower doses of things and I'm focused on my computer or guitar, esp if the monitor is my only light source. I'll hafta play with that next time I get MXE.

Fell into a nice m-hole recently... Felt like a character in 'the game of life". And guess what... I won

I did about 15 + 20 + 30 mg MXE yesterday I.M. and then decided to take another 50mg in one shot, which was a bit too much as I became somewhat delirious and paranoid at some point after spending a moment in a fun hole. But that aside, later at night as I begun to regain sanity I had a pain in my abdomen, on the right side a bit below from the navel. Was this a bladder related thing or what do you think? The pain is gone now though after a good night's sleep and it could have been something not related to MXE, gas or something.

I hadn't done MXE in a couple of months and never taken a big dose of this particular batch of german origin, but I've been using a lot of 3-MeO-PCP lately and also 4-MeO-PCP last week.

I just pinched a nerve in my upper spine. Tylenol does not help. I don't have quick access to anything strong. I do have methoxetamine which I have only tried once in small amount. I have read a little about its analgesic effects and am curious if any of you have any insights for its use in treatment of acute pain such as from nerve compression. Definitely would prefer low dose. Don't feel like getting really weird.

^I think it will probably help somewhat. In addition to reading the same as you I've also read reports of it helping with neuropathic pain. A friend of mine who was re-modeling his house and doing the standard awkward back-wrenching lifting and banging fingers with hammers and whatnot said he got significant relief from 25 mg oral. If you have no tolerance that's typically enough to get a person in a dissociated state of amazement with everything without warp jumping into innerspace or the like. I'm guessing you're still going to feel quite a bit of the acute pain of something intense like a pinched nerve in the back, but you may feel some relief. Just try the same dose you've tried before and work your way up slowly. Even though there's a lot a variance in effects between doses redosing can be be fairly predictable with MXE so as long as your initial dose is low and you gauge your reaction there before inching your way up in small increments. So long as you take that tactic you don't have to worry too much about finding yourself a little too fucked up.

Greetings... My first post here. If mxe is an anesthetic, why is it so hard to sleep later?

I love mxe!

Because it has effects that amplify and warp our imaginations in ways that cause fascination and introspection that makes it difficult to sleep, even if it works via mechanisms that traditional psychedelics and stimulants don't work by, that's why.

Yeah, last time i took too much, i got stuck in a time loop, realized that all my life was just a dream i was having while my real self was actually a schizophrenic delirient guy lying in a mental hospital for the past years, my family watching over me was just waiting in pain for me to get better. i stumbled around, now looking truly autistic/catatonic according to my gf, repeating "so this is life?". Took me a few minutes to get out of that delusion. Felt great to realize my gf was for real, and not just a mental patients delirium... or is she?=D Friggin powerful dissos, got about the same "realization of actually being a schizophrenic " on high dose K one day. -takes own ass handed to him-

I'd like to discuss the quality of MXE I obtained from a certain source.
Where's the best place to discuss this?

Thanks.

What causes tolerance?
Who do I need more to feel the same effect?

are you guys sure mxe isn't acting on an opioid receptor?

diehard-mxe, please use the EDIT button instead of posting 3 short posts. Also UTFSE, all your questions on this and the MXE combinations have been answered in previous threads. I'll try to answer them anyway but really... do some reading. You can learn a lot.

-No, it's not OK to discuss quality from a source. Without lab testing all people can do is speculate. Also, source discussion is forbidden.
-Taking almost any drug too often causes tolerance. The brain changes temporarily in the presence of a drug & needs time to return to normal
-There is a study which found that MXE has NMDA and SERT actions but doesn't affect opioid receptors.

Hello, I know source discussion is a no-no and this doesn't necessarily even involve that, but would it be okay to discuss the different batches of MXE, perhaps in more length than on B&D, comments on effects and appearance, comparisons etc. Might be very useful for a lot of MXE heads since there clearly are a lot of batches of varying quality floating around and people are consuming them. Some batches might be bad and some not even MXE (there was some shady MXE sold in the UK right before the ban, one user said he got his tested positive for tiletamine, and I think I have the same batch - it's shit and it's poison but sold as MXE from a trusted place).

Subthread might be good cause otherwise the batch discussion gets lost here very easily. What do u think?

How can one test the purity of mxe?

The most common way to test a compound's purity is GC/MS done by a lab. There's no way to do it at home if that's what you mean. There are reagent tests but those don't indicate purity (I don't really know anything about them for MXE.)

Also, I want to remind folks to be careful with how and where they use MXE. When people are using in public or giving it to uninformed people (or worse, selling it "on the street" so to speak) that's what ruins it for everyone. What happened in the UK was a few irresponsible people got noticed by the media and that was the end. Be safe, -oar

This drug continues to fascinate me. I haven't had any in a week, but before that I was on quite a stretch of daily use. One must be careful with it, as it seems like a 'soft' drug in low doses, but feels more like a 'hard' drug in larger amounts. I smelled it coming out of my skin for 3 days after I stopped, but I was also flirting with opiates during this time and was using it somewhat as a crutch for the opiate use. The combination psychological and physical withdrawal from coming off an opiate/mxe binge makes for a dreaded experience! Not recommended to use as a crutch for other drug issues. It has taken me a week to shake it off, but I do feel clear of it now. It has left me not wanting anything to do with opiates more than not wanting to do more mxe. The tricky thing with mxe is that it is riding the line between medicine and recreational drug, and in that respect it is almost too good of a drug, at least to people who respond to it in the way I do. See, for me it's a great anti-depressent because it made mundane experience into extraordinary experience, on top of the anesthetic and psychedelic effects. The downside to that is that the mundane afterwards feels so...mundane...so there is definitely the potential for psychological dependence.
