The Big & Dandy First-Time-Tripper Thread

If possible maybe have a benzo on hand as a way out if things get too rough

I did this after a bad trip a while back and just having the diazepam there stopped me needing it as the knowledge it was there as a last resort was a huge comfort.

I find weed to be alot more panic attack/bad trip inducing than acid, but if your worried before taking it then the lsd might amplify this, its best to have a safety net
 
As for the social anxiety concern, I'd recommend only dosing with friends you are comfortable around, and staying in a safe environment, where you will not have to interact with a lot of new people (such as hiking outside somewhere where there aren't a lot of people).


And it definitely sounds like you should avoid smoking weed while you're tripping. Link's advice is also good - having a benzo (Xanax, Ativan, etc) on hand would be a good idea in case you want to cut your trip short, as well as to give you piece of mind that would most likely increase your chances of having a good trip. As far a psychedelics go though, I've found acid to beone of the least anxiety-inducing. In the case where there is anxiety, it's good to remember that you CAN change your environment (IE going outside if you are inside makes a world of difference)
 
Weed makes me hella anxious, LSD didn't give me a single second of negativity. I've only done it once, but I feel safe saying LSD doesn't automatically trigger anxiety like weed does for me.

Well thanks for everyones input so far, its been quite reassureing. I will be doseing with 5-6 good friends i have known for over 7 years now! The environment has been long considered and we've decided to dose on a hot sunny day out in the countryside with surrounding beaches, somewhere i've spent the past 8 years of my life surfing! Also planning to catch a sunset over the ocean on the tail end of the trip :D

I'm not planning on smoking any weed, it's not something i have much interest in luckily for me... and the benzo idea is something that will help a great deal but i don't think i've any way to source such drug but i will try my best to get myself a valium or somthing of the likes.

Also.. the drunk comment, was that a joke?? :p I was thinking about having a few beers before i dose to calm my nerves, good idea?

And since you can't get benzos, you might aswell take along a 4 pack just incase things get too intense.

^^^ Have you had a look at Erowid? Chemically LSD is very safe. It's been around for a long time, long enough to have been researched to find out how it reacts with the body. In regards to flashbacks, some people have experienced this but AFAIK it's not all too common. These flashbacks would usually only last a second or two anyway, it's not like you "flashback" for hours. When it comes to weed, people are divided. Some people say it directs the trip negatively, some say it makes them trip harder. Personally I wouldn't if it's the first time taking acid. But that's just me since when I try a drug for the first time I like to see what that is like - not what that drug is like with another. Maybe have some on hand and see how you go. You might find you don't need it! Basically used basic drug sense - Set, Setting and common sense. Good luck and if you decide to do it have fun! :)
 
It sounds like you've got everything figured out and should have a great time, honestly, whether or not you have a few drinks before. If you're feeling a little anxious the day of, it couldn't hurt though. I'd say the only thing that is really likely to cause anxiety in an LSD trip (besides being in a bad environment) is going into the trip with anxiety, so just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!
 
Drop your tab(s), and just sit back with a drink and turn on some really good music. No need to go overboard on the alcohol, but a drink can help smooth out the come-up nicely. The music, though, is what will really set your mind at ease -- it will take on dimensions you never dreamed possible, and will guide you through your trip. Peace, love, and happy tripping. <3 :)
 
The alcohol thing is totally legit. No reason to go overboard, but a few drinks will definitely keep you calm. I like to have a few on the come up, just to make things nicer.

The social anxiety... I'm under the impression the MAIN sorts of psychological problems that come from psych use are more so... bringing out schizophrenia/psychosis. I mean, it could surely affect how you interact socially, but I wouldn't worry about it. Not to say I'm an expert, but don't worry! It's always better to not worry. Though being worried doesn't always cause a bad trip, so don't worry about... worrying. Ahah. Especially if you're with good friends, I bet you'll be fine.

are any of your friends experienced with LSD? You said a couple are first timers also, so I'm just wondering. I recently purchased an O of mushrooms and my girlfriend was with me (no psychedelic experience, not even weed), out of the blue i asked her if she would like to dose with me, she was really scared hearing some past experiences I went through with larger doses. She was really nervous after dosing, but towards the end of the come up she was perfectly fine!

I find having someone experienced helps a ton. If you don't have an experienced person with you, the best advice is go with what you want to do. You want to be comfortable with your environment and be around people you enjoy hanging around. It's hard to go wrong with something so beautiful like Lucy =D
 
Drink just enough before hand so that you feel a little confident and a little cocky....this always works for me when I'm taking recreational doses of shrooms or acid. Now-a-days when I smoke pot, I often get paranoid or feel uncomfortable....focusing on my heart or breathing....this NEVER bothers me on psychedelics. I don't recommend smoking pot on acid either if it already makes you feel uncomfortable. Psychedelics im my opinion cause much less anxiety than weed...


Another good thing to remeber is that: NO ONE HAS EVER DIED OR BEEN HURT BY LSD...it's a very reassuring thought for those who have never experienced it before.

^^so true....I've had TERRIBLE mushroom trips, (never had a bad acid trip) completley transformed by music

I have social anxiety and let me tell you, LSD helps me release that anxiety. I feel sooo free to truly just let loose and be myself. Don't worry!!!
 
I always like to start off my trips with a decent sized glass or two of Red Wine. It's like going on a date with the psychedelic substance and the liquor helps calm the nerves.

Also, keeping some Valium or Klonopin on hand really helps boost your confidence about the whole trip. To the point that you know the trip is going to be just fine, because just the idea of having it on hand. In case something goes wrong, makes you completely forget about it (it being, "the trip going wrong").

You eat a few of those babies and you'll be out cold in no time. It's like hitting the abort button.
 
The only bad trip ive ever had resulted from drinking alcohol and having acid in the same night, it was really bad.

Ive experienced anxiety from a lot of drugs and weed seems to bare the worst kind of anxiety, speed/meth coming in second, then alcohol then psychedelics

Am i likely to experience this on acid aswel? I know they are two completely different things but i thought i'd play it safe and ask as they do share certain qualities.

i have severe social anxiety and it didnt affect my trip on LSD at all, but everytime i take shrooms i have a bad trip. LSD is the way to go
 
I think weed can be useful in combination with psychedelics if you're very experienced with it, otherwise it's a definite no-no (at least during the peak). Personally, when I'm taking tryptamines, I feel like something is missing from the trip if I don't smoke any weed, but that's probably because I've always smoked weed when tripping on mushrooms. With LSD, I can easily trip without weed, and in fact prefer it, although I do find it nice to smoke when coming down. Same goes for phens really, though I prefer to take toke or two at the start to alleviate nausea. At the peak, however, I find that weed usually takes away from the clarity of the experience.
 
It's remarkable that so many people would advise alcohol with acid, I can see where 1 drink or 2 at the very most could take off some of the edge but otherwise acid makes me despise alcohol so being under the influence of it seriously conflicts with the acids clarity.

Wouldn't go so far as to say its a no-go but please be very careful mixing those. :\

Theanine calms me down a bit, at this point I don't have so much trip-anxiety to fear but when really in need my allies have been GHB and alprazolam (=xanax, a benzo). Yes there are commonalities with alcohol there but not many things are as dirty as alcohol is.
 
First time doing acid

Hey, this friday i will be doing acid for this first time with a few close friends(none of us have done it before) and i was wondering should we smoke weed at all during the trip? if so how long after we take the acid.

I wouldnt.
Just go for the acid this time round - its your first time on it - your doing it to experience the acid. Just using the acid will give you a clear idea of what its like and how you can remember it.

Its quite an overwhelming drug and when Im on it I dont even feel the urge to use anything else.

After your first time if you feel like you want to add a more "trippy" kick to ur experience then by all means go for it.

But for now I would suggest just sticking to the LSD.

Personally I wish I was one of your close friends today - its so damn hard to find LSD these days!!
