Based on my impressions, the LSD headspace is one with a lot of abstract thought going on, extensive pondering, experimenting with language ("Psychedelicity. Psychedelascticity. Psychedelaicité"), questioning basic concepts - by comparison, the ETH-LAD headspace is *very* clearheaded up until 100µg or so; beyond 150 µg, however, you're increasingly going to run into thought loops; memories of sounds, sights and people become more vivid, more present. At 225 µg, you could say I did "lose" myself in the sense that I could barely string together a thought for more than a few seconds; there was so much pressure from the drug, it all felt so overpowering... yet also fascinating. I eventually took a benzo to get myself centered again, but I lamented to my trip notes that it represented a "waste of 5HT2A-mediated mindrape". No "ego death" though, if that's what you're asking.
Speaking of "mindrape" - that's one way you could describe the ETH-LAD-"mindfuck". Well, not really mind-"rape" per se - more like some sort of intense BDSM roleplay scenario; LSD itself, OTOH, mindfucks you in some kinky fetish way that you never knew you were into.
And no, I've never smoked weed (only had edibles in Amsterdam like 3 times), although a substance that is relaxing and which enhances the effects of psychedelics sounds pretty intriguing. Unfortunately, I was always more partial to the convenience and efficacy of benzos as my downer of choice. Benzos significantly tend to diminish the visuals, although I found that the symbolism of the mere act of taking the pill may allow you to take control of your trip even before the benzo actually kicks in.
