I'm going to a Tool concert soon with 4 other friends, me and one other friend are debating dropping ~150mcg of cid' each at the show. We've both tripped more than a few times, but never at a concert. I realize it would have the potential to go very wrong, but it just seems like too good of an opportunity to pass up. We would have 3 sober friends there watching out for us- what do you guys think?

Also to the guy above me:

I normally keep it under my tongue for a bit and eventually swallow it if it doesn't completely dissolve, I can't tell you if 2mg of xanax would kill you as it depends on your benzo tolerance... personally I don't think it would completely kill it, but i doubt i'd remember as much of it afterwards :P. As far as nervousness and body load, some depends on the dose, I normally get really anxious during the come up but it never lasts more than an hour or so, and then I'm always able to let go and enjoy the trip, and as far as the body load is concerned I personally don't notice it too much unless I drop a few hits or more.

do it, definitely! easily one of the most psychedelic shows i've ever been to, and one of the best too. i accidentally wash out trip'd! myself when they played here and i have no regrets except for maybe not getting front row seats. be prepared to have your head thoroughly messed with before you even get inside.

Under the tongue is what I normally do and let it dissolve or just chew it after a while and the swallow (I'm assuming blotter..). Depending on your tolerance the xanax will reduce the intensity and immediacy of the experience, but if you use it regularly it will not imoact greatly.

I get quite nauseous off LSD as well as cramping and some over stimulation, but that is more because I don't get along with acid anymore. That said, I've taken it heaps of times where I felt physically normal- experiencing body hallucinations still- but no sense of drugedness or dirtyness. Also, LSD can give a great body high if you rekax into it...

I've done my share of ecstasy and I dont think Ill be bothered by anything I see/think - probably just jinx'd myself right there! In all seriousness, I'm not worried about wigging out, just a little nervous as with any new substance. I've seen Tool twice before, so Im aware of the intensity of their shows. I'll be there with my nephew and his fiancee/gf, neither of which are new to drugs. They should be sober, perhaps a little drunk - her first time to New Orleans.

This is *if* the acid is even good anymore. I just looked it up and I bought it sometime around June of 04. I neglected to take it, lost it, and just found it a coupla of weeks ago, still wrapped in tinfoil and cellophane. It was in a desk drawer. Is this shit even still any good?

but yeah you should be fine start low since your in public.It should still be good.
 
I can't recommend taking your first real psychedelic (am I correct in this assumption?) at a concert or in public at all. Psychedelics aren't about what you see... it's about the way your mind will be opened up and twisted around in ways you couldn't possibly foresee. Trust me, being around other people can be quite overwhelming while you're tripping... even if you've done it hundreds of times.
 
This really isn't a good idea if it's your first time using psychedelics ever, and not just acid. If you're experienced with shrooms or some such and this is just your first time trying acid then you should know how you react on psychedelics. This is one of those situations where I feel like if you need to ask then the answer might be no. Even after I'd tried LSD a few times, being out in public on it was overwhelming.

If you decide to do it, make sure you're with people that you trust deeply and that you feel safe with. That'd go a long way toward improving the experience. Please make sure that someone with you is sober, or take a cab! Driving on psychedelics is never safe. I know that just RIDING in a car on acid I can't help but stare at all the pretty lights, or the lines that are weaving back and forth on the road. ;)

Bottom line: do what you want, but do it safely and responsibly. Have fun, but always remember that "the mind you fuck may be your own." ;)
 
^^ Great post. I 'd like to restate that I wouldn't do this, unless you've tripped on something truly psychedelic before and know how tripping can be. And MDMA does not count, as that is not the same sort of thing as LSD or other true psychedelics.

A friendly paramedic who volunteers at raves, parties and concerts claims that the majority of his "psychedelic emergencies" are people who (subconsciously or not) took the drug believing it's a good thing to get "fucked up".
The rest are first timers (some of those suffer from the aforementioned problem as well).
No exceptions.

I'm assuming that experienced people who get into trouble are smart/wise enough to leave for home before things get too unpleasant.

Funny, I asked about taking acid at a tool concert a few questions up :P, though it definitely isn't my first time. I'm going tomorrow, I'll drop you a PM and let you know how it is if you want.

I still don't know if I want to take the xanax my first time. I'm pretty tolerant (38 or so mg of rohypnol didn't put me to sleep), but I don't wanna kill the trip.

Maybe 1 hit with 2mg-4mg xanax my first time, and 2 hits with no xanax the next time.

I wouldnt take the xanax right off the bat, if your that nervous about it just keep the xanax on hand and only take it if things start to go bad, but at least give it a chance first.
