Maybe get a script and work out a regime with your addiction specialist/GP if you have one and stick to it then don't get any more when its done.
If you get an effect from 2.5mg then that's a nice low level to keep it at. How many times is "A few times"? I try and work out how long it takes to get out of your system and don't use it again while its still present. I think its 3 days for diazepam for me that would mean no more than 2 times a week. I have been using benzos for quite a few years now and have not had any real withdrawal symptoms. That said I can see how it creeps up and how psychological dependence is the real worry. I used two days in a row once and found I had rebound anxiety so I'm not doing that again. Unfortunately I have developed tolerance and do experience poor memory despite never having had a physical dependence.
